Step into my office!
~ Some Guy somewhere

The Pig Sty

Hello all, this is my office, where I'll track what I'm up to on Storytelling side of things, as well as the Dev side of things.

If I'm missing anything here, or you think I've overlooked anything, don't hesitate to PM me with questions and queries.

I'm mostly approachable, as long as you're reasonably nice :P

Approaching me for moderation:

Pms work best for this, Discord is okay too. I'm a bit stuffed to the gills for individual modded threads at the moment, but depending on how many things I'm currently modding for you, and your need, your proximity to Rharne, and volume of bribes, I may be persuaded to take on new things.

Thanks

The Dizzy Wizard
Tavern and Brewery
Image
The Dizzy Wizard Tavern and Brewery is the headquarters of the Alchemists Guild of Rharne. Here, it serves its experimental brews as much as its more mundane ones. Several apprentices scurry about and work in the operations and service of the Tavern in order to earn their membership in the Guild. As part of a work-study exchange, many apprentices serve for a fee while receiving instruction from some of the greatest alchemical minds that Rharne has to offer.

It's not uncommon for those visiting, who happen to have an interest in alchemy, to strike up conversations with their servers about the finer points of alchemical glyphs, rituals, scientific processes, and/or reagents.

The place is run like a well-lubricated machine by the bartender, who stands at a raised dais where the main bar is located. There, he serves some of the finer alchemical libations anywhere in the world. Graid takes great pride in his establishment. Should anyone wish to brawl, he only asks that they take it to an underground ring, located two stratas beneaeth the cold storage for their brewed products.

Common Drinks: Tier 5

The Usual
Clean Water - 2cn a mug - 1sn a flagon
Clean drinking water. Useful for quenching thirst, survival, or sobering up.
Ale - 1sn a mug - 6sn a flagon
A cheap drink brewed from barley or oats, or any number of different grains.
Beer - 3sn a mug - 2gn a flagon
Rich, hoppy flavours scented with allspice, juniper, resin, apples, bread-crumbs, sage, lavender, gentian, cinnamon, or laurel. These are usually high-flavoured beverages with a strong, natural taste.
Amber Blade Grog - 3sn a mug - 2gn a flagon
An amber-coloured grog with a slight hint of apple. Apple cider, rather than water, is mixed with an inexpensive rum to spice up the taste. Great for those looking for something with a little more sweetness than the average beer or spirit. It's a cyclical drink that is only sold during the Cold Cycle in Rharne, after the apples have been harvested.
Cider - 5sn a mug - 3gn a flagon
A bitter-sweet flavour achieved by pouring water onto apples and steeping them to perfection. Fresh, crisp, and strong-flavoured, cider can be served cold, at room temperature, or heated.
Mead - 1gn a mug - 6gn a flagon
A sweet alcoholic drink enjoyed by people from all classes, mead is and brewed using honey.
Rum - 1gn a shot - 10gn a bottle
Made from sugarcane juice and molasses and distilled into a clear liquid before it is aged in oak barrels, producing the dark, amber colour rum is famous for. It has a smoky, sweet taste and is very popular among sailors.
Vodka - 2gn a shot - 15gn a bottle
Crisp and distilled for volume rather than flavour, vodka has no distinctive taste, and can best be described as cold and clean, going down smoothly. This spirit is clear having no colour and is typically drunk straight, with a subtle after taste and strong bite.
Brandy - 2gn a shot - 20gn a bottle
An after dinner drink of the best quality and highest proofing, this brandy will leave a warm feeling in the mouth and stomach upon consumption.
Whiskey - 2gn a shot - 30gn a bottle
Made from fermented grain-mash including barley, corn, rye, and wheat. Whiskey is aged over time in wooden crates generally made of charred white oak important from different regions across Idalos.
Signature Beer
Shock Bock - 4gn a glass - 50gn a bottle
A strong, dark beer with a kick. The key ingredients are zapnip and heat-dissolved bottled lightning. The process for brewing it is a tightly kept secret. The beer itself has a strong and cloying aftertaste, leaving your palate shivering from vague feelings of being electrified. Shock Bock simultaneously stimulates and keeps one awake, while also causing heavy drunkenness within just a few sips.

White Wine: Tier 6-7

The Usual
Ashan’s Twilight - 6sn per Glass - 4gn per Bottle
A wine low in alcohol that is cheap and popular. It has a pleasant taste and is grown, harvested, and vinted in the hottest parts of Idalos. Though it is mass produced most of the year, Ashan’s Twilight is a very widely respected wine.
Saun’s Heat - 8sn per Glass - 6gn per Bottle
A spicy concoction made by the Biqaj and often kept by the barrel loads upon their ships. This is an aged, dry wine with a strong hint of flavour that goes great with seafood dishes.
Shimmering Koriel - 10sn per Glass - 8gn per Bottle
The added flavours of pomelos and kumquats give this straw coloured, sweet, full-bodied wine its unique and delicious taste. Imported from areas of eastern Idalos, this wine is crafted and bottled every four arcs, making it hard to come by outside of the east.
Sparkling White - 2gn per Glass - 13gn per Bottle
Vibrant and bubbly in aroma and flavour, this sparkling wine is herbaceous, flavoursome, and will ensnare the senses with its hints of citrus and passionfruit.
Kuwasa - 3gn per Glass - 15gn per Bottle
A dessert wine from the shores of Desnind with special aromas of mandarin and apricot with a hint of lemon zest.
Appiden - 4gn per Glass - 17gn per Bottle
Rich and savoury flavours loaded with the aromas of intense, ripe pears and Ymiden apples.
Smof - 8gn per Glass - 26gn per Bottle
A crowd favourite with ripe peach and aromatic flavours, make this one of the best mid-range wines in all of Idalos. Its subtle spices make this the perfect white wine for a cold day.
Moseke’s Harvest - 13gn per Glass - 35gn per Bottle
Inspired by the tastes of nature, crafters of this wine import green grapes from the far reaches of Idalos to bring together the ‘tastes of the world’. A crisp, refreshing vintage that will inspire anyone's taste-buds.
Queen - 25gn per Glass - 50gn per Bottle
A strong wine with a sharp taste blended with hints of kiwi fruit, mangosteen, and lychee. This is known as the queen of wines, best served with a meal fit for a king.
White Diamond - 40gn per Glass - 100gn per Bottle
A sweet wine best served cold, high in alcohol and far too easy to drink, this white wine tastes just like a high quality grape juice and has been describe as ‘the taste of Saun in a bottle’. Partnered well with fish.
Alchemist's Vintage
Sovereign Champaign - 60gn per Glass - 200gn per Bottle (Available to Tier 9 or see Shoppe for pricing of Luxury alcohol)
Sovereign Champaign contains notes of minty flavor, undergirded by the sour and sweetness of the green grapes that it's brewed from. Sovereign Champaign produces a feeling, when imbibed, of extreme pride and adulation to the drinkers. They tend to feel better about the company they are keeping at any moment they are under the influence of this drink.

Red Wine: Tier 6-8

The Usual
Stone Creek - 6sn per Glass - 4gn per Bottle
An inexpensive red wine from the city of Rharne with enticing aromas and flavours of wild blackcurrant with overtones of black pepper and spices best served with red meat, wild game, and stews.
Venora Rose - 8sn per Glass - 6gn per Bottle
Imported all around the world from the sunny shores of Rynmere, Venora Rose is grown on the slopes of ‘Nora’s Rest’ where the vines get just the right mix of cool air and warm sunshine. This light, red rose is best served with Saun fruits and light meals.
Low Hanging Zemoni - 10sn per Glass - 8gn per Bottle
Crafted from the shores of Ne'haer, this wine is excellent as a before-or-after-dinner drink. This deeply coloured wine of purples and reds is sweet and delectable. Its elegant smoothness is due to a low acid content, delivering a flavour that will leave most yearning for more.
Acripae - 2gn per Glass - 13gn per Bottle
A wine that evokes legend and fascination with its brilliant tastes of purple grapes from the mysterious lands of Desnind. It shines with noticeable hints of garnet-red and flashes of amber. Acripae can be a bitter tasting wine due to its acidity. However, it is a wine that exudes glory, nobility and power.
Nanutha - 3gn per Glass - 15gn per Bottle
Nanutha is a drink best served chilled. It is a drink with a high alcohol content that is bound to get even the most tolerant tipsy after a few glasses. This wine is meant as a dessert drink, with its intense notes of red fruits and herbal undertones. Some say this wine is a true serum.
Vithella - 4gn per Glass - 17gn per Bottle
Important from the Avriel City, Athart, Vithella holds notes of spicy and herbaceous undertones that go great with a beef entree. It sparkles with brilliant reds and has low alcohol content for maximum enjoyment.
Red Aìda - 8gn per Glass - 26gn per Bottle
Named after the Sev'ryn's meaning for 'Love', Red Aida is a wine imported from the lands of Desnind and crafted by the people themselves. This drink is high in alcohol content and contains a chemical that is known to bring about “feel good” emotions and cause mild hallucinations. The wine itself is balanced between tartness and sweet and is great as an after dinner drink.
Ruby Shav - 13gn per Glass - 35gn per Bottle
This wine is both delectable in taste and appearance, giving off a very transparent shade of ruby red. Given at most celebrations, Ruby Shav has undertones of acai berry mixed with hints of orange and starfruit and is mostly produced and exported from Hiladrith.
Sesser’s Blend - 25gn per Glass - 50gn per Bottle
Named after Syroa's mark, this wine has a chemical in it that causes strong hallucinations combined with herbal ingredients that causes the body to become both hypersensitive and sluggish, verging on paralytic. The wine does not have a high alcohol content and is more often used for fast acting drunkenness than enjoyment. The taste is quite bitter, though most seem to enjoy it.
Gyara - 40gn per Glass - 100gn per Bottle
Gyara is a high class wine made by the citizen of Rharne . Its quality of smoothness coupled with its luxurious colour and blend make it a drink preferred by the noble class. The process to make the wine takes an extensive amount of time, making it one of the most expensive wines in the world.
Wizards Vintage
Emean Mist - 60gn per Glass - 200gn per Bottle (Available to Tier 10 or see Shoppe for pricing of Luxury alcohol)
Emean Mist is said to be mixed from the ground up remnants of Midnyte wells. Whether this is true or not, the secret of its vinting is a closely guarded secret by higher levels of the Alchemists Guild. Whatever the truth behind its ingredients, all can agree it has a flavor and feel-good quality to it, warming to the core and filling the body with a sense of euphoria that can be distracting.

Graid Bockey

Graid Bockey

Name: Graid Bockey
Race: Human
DoB: 52nd of Vhalar, 667
Title: Alchemist Bartender, member of The Alchemist's Guild, Manager of the Dizzy Wizard
Skills: Alchemy: Master, Brewing: Master, Ensorcelling: Expert, Combat: Unarmed: Expert, Politics: Expert, Science: Competent, Socialization: Competent, Teaching: Competent

Graid Bockey has been with the Guild since its inception. The personal apprentice of Markel Ignar, he learned all he knew of brewing and alchemy under his tutelage. Upon the difficulty that the guild master had trying to establish theirselves in Rharne, with the general prejudice against magical practice in the wake of the War of Death and Souls, it was Graid who suggested to his former masters that they should establish the Alchemists Guild with an eye toward brewing special drinks, and furthering the advancement of libation sciences with alchemy.

He may have single-handedly ensured that the Guild got its foot in the door. When Ilaren caught wind of their mission, to improve the brewing process with alchemy and share that knowledge with wider Rharne, she intervened immediately, ensuring that they would have their Guild, so long as they established a Tavern to serve up their latest brewed innovations.

Graid rose to the status of full partner and member of the Alchemists Guild at that time, and holds as much sway in Rharne as the Guild Master himself.

The Moscatine Fracture
Image
The Moscatine Fracture opened up in Vhalar of 722. Fractive scholars haven't had time to study it yet, but believe it's formation is the result of the destruction of Immortal artifacts in the possession of the Purveyor and Rhaum. Not to mention the deaths of those two powerful beings in such close succession to each other. It took time for the Fault-Line fracture to form. Yet form it did, until it became a permanent fixture as of Vhalar of 722.

It exists on the northwestern shores of Lovalus, on a well-traveled path leading from the shores of the lake into the Ywyngyll Forest.

Already a stretch of dangerous territory, being so close to the Ywyngyll Forest, the Fracture has made it doubly so. Those who venture to approach its Foyer will find their senses start to betray them, as if suffering from a light state of intoxication that proceeds to heavy drunkeness as they approach a Vein. Should they get close enough to enter the Vein, they will suffer from a blackout period. After which they will awaken, heavily inebriated and having lost at least one of their senses, the space they occupy bounded by the confines of the Mugbottom Tavern and it's colorful patrons.

There are two ways to go from the extremes of the Tavern, and a variety of ways that the Mugbottom Tavern can damage an individual who enters into it. Whether the new patron of the Tavern draws closer to the Heart, or to the Exit, there are a variety of threats and dangers that are posed by its denizens. Emeyans that can rob you of your senses temporarily by inviting you to drink from their cup. Bellicose beings that try to pick fights and brawls. Over-amorous beings that will give you all manner of ill-effects should you partake of their company. Gamblers that will run you out of coin should you sit down to a game with them.

Of course, these are all navigable by those with appropriate skills to deal with them. Those who are skilled in the arts of merry making of all sorts will find it possible to navigate either closer to the exit or the Heart. However, one cannot do so without engaging with the denizens in their various challenges.

Overview and Rules

Stuff and things that will kill you.

Domain and Denizens

Moderator's Note: Players are welcome to use these creatures/places/domains if they're writing about this location. Keep in mind that Major Fractures are incredibly dangerous. You likely won't come away from an expedition unscathed.

Foyer: The Bumpy Road

The Bumpy Road
Image

The Bumpy Road is notoriously difficult to travel over. It seems like rocks and dips in the road are just designed to trip up feet, derail wagons, or injure horses. Whatever method of conveyance you take through this road, it appears the very landscape has it out for you, and wants you to crash into a ditch. Should you make it through the Bumpy Road, you will emerge (most often inebriated) at the Mugbottom Tavern.

Veins: Mugbottom Tavern

Mugbottom Tavern
Image

The Mugbottom Tavern is a merry beer hall, where all manner of drinks and flavors of alcohol and other vices are available to partake in. Patrons must beware, however, as the Sotlians will sense anyone who has begun to suffer any degree of confusion or intoxication in their ride through the Bumpy Road. Should they notice a patron, they will not take no for an answer but challenge the patron incessantly to a challenge. They will emit a poisonous gas that causes intoxication until the patron finally relents and takes them up on their challenge.

The wager for these challenges? Simple. One of the patron's five senses...

Should the patron succeed in the challenge, they will have ten bits to themselves before another Sotlian will challenge them. It is during these times when they can try to find wells, if they have enough of their wits about them.

Heart: The Polar Blackout

The Blackout
Image

The Blackout. Nobody knows what the Blackout is, except that its where the Master and MIstress Tiptaps drag patrons who have failed enough challenges to lose all senses. Nobody knows what happens to them after that. Perhaps even the patrons don't know. They aren't heard from again, in life, death, or even memory. It's as if they never even existed.

Exit: The Hangover

The Hangover
Image

The Hangover is simply the state that the patrons find themselves in when they exit the fracture. The poisons emitted by the Emeyans within this fracture will wear off within five trials. However, any senses they lost during their time in Mugbottom Tavern will need to be recovered from a Sotlian, through the same challenge that caused them to fail.

Denizens

Minor Emeyans: Swillings
Appearance: Swillings have various material forms that are hard to pinpoint, as if staring at them through a distortion glass. They emit a strange gas, that is explained in their minor traits below. They are mischeivous to the point of malice, but fortunately rarely have enough wherewithal to enact any real damage other than the poisonous fumes they exhale.
Skills:
Socialization: Competent
Deception: Competent
Minor Traits:
  • Poison
    • The Emeyan possesses some form of poison or toxin which they can excrete, whether that’s through pores in their flesh, through bite or claw… the choice is down to the creator and should be detailed when taking the trait. It ought to be appropriate to the beast’s other features, and the effects of the poison also need to be detailed when the trait is chosen. Lethal effects are prohibited. The poison causes mild drunkenness at first, and then proceeds to heavy drunkeness. Appropriate levels of Resistance can limit the effects of this poison.
  • Emotional Aura
    • All Emeyans are able to project an aura provoking a basic emotion in those around them. From fear to calmness, the emotion is a general sense or feeling from them. Whether through an aura effect, a particular mannerism, expression, sound or posture, they are able to project this emotion and the Dreamer will feel it unless they possess Resistance, Discipline or Meditation at a level high enough to justify resisting. The Emotional Aura that Swillings emit cause emotions of their victims to become more pronounced and exaggerated.
Moderate Emeyans: Sotlians
Appearance: Found exclusively within the Mugbottom Tavern, Sotlians are stronger and more formidable than their smaller and dumber cousins, the Swillings. However, they also possess the miasmatic forms that defy the senses in various ways. These chimeric creatures aren't as malicious as the Swillings, and can communicate their desire to engage in various challenges against those who enter the Mugbottom Tavern.
Skills:
Resistance/Gambling/Seduction/Combat/Deception/Etc. (Choose a skill appropriate to the challenge they place upon Patrons): Expert
Endurance: Competent
Strength: Competent
Socialization: Competent
Minor Traits:
  • Poison
    • The Emeyan possesses some form of poison or toxin which they can excrete, whether that’s through pores in their flesh, through bite or claw… the choice is down to the creator and should be detailed when taking the trait. It ought to be appropriate to the beast’s other features, and the effects of the poison also need to be detailed when the trait is chosen. Lethal effects are prohibited. • All Emeyans are able to project an aura provoking a basic emotion in those around them. From fear to calmness, the emotion is a general sense or feeling from them. The Emotional Aura that Swillings emit cause emotions of their victims to become more pronounced and exaggerated.
  • Malleable
    • The Emeyan has a physiology that enables them to flatten themselves, bend their joints dramatically out of place, or otherwise readjust their bodies for the purposes of accomplishing impressive feats of contortionism and agility.
  • Keen Sense
    • A single one of the Emeyan’s existing senses are keen and improved over the normal, giving them increased benefits. This can account for any of their natural, normal senses, or any acquired through other Traits. When they win a challenge against another patron, the Sotlian will strengthen a selected sense that is then weakened in the patron.
    Major Traits:
    • Telepathic
      • The Emeyan is capable of communicating with thought, and to a limited degree perceive the surface thoughts of those they focus on in their vicinity. Their communications are limited to images and emotions unless they possess proficiency with any language.[/i]
    • Sensory Deprivation
      • The Sotlian is capable of depriving those who fail their challenges, whether they be games of chance, games of seduction, riddles, drinking games, or just a round of darts, of one of their senses. Should they weaken a particular sense, that same sense will strengthen in their selves, making it easier to bilk the patrons out of all their senses.
Major Emeyans: Master/Mistress Tiptap
Appearance: There is no true master or proprietor of the Mugbottom Tavern, nor is there a big bad boss of the Moscatine Fracture. Instead, there are bouncers, who act as the clean-up crew of the Fracture. Unfortunately, for the patrons, most mortals are on the list of trash to take out, whether to bring them into the Blackout, the Heart, or to eject them out of the Mugbottom Tavern toward the Exit.
Skills:
Resistance: Master
Combat (Unarmed): Master
Socialization: Expert
Deception: Expert
Discipline: Expert
Minor Traits:
  • Poison
    • The Emeyan possesses some form of poison or toxin which they can excrete, whether that’s through pores in their flesh, through bite or claw… the choice is down to the creator and should be detailed when taking the trait. It ought to be appropriate to the beast’s other features, and the effects of the poison also need to be detailed when the trait is chosen. Lethal effects are prohibited. Whether through an aura effect, a particular mannerism, expression, sound or posture, they are able to project this emotion and the Dreamer will feel it unless they possess Resistance, Discipline or Meditation at a level high enough to justify resisting. The Emotional Aura that Master/Mistress Tiptaps emit cause emotions of their victims to become more pronounced and exaggerated.
  • Shapeshifter
    • A Shapeshifter is able to change their appearance partially or completely, though their Traits remain the same. They are able to change all cosmetic details in the frame of their abilities on a whim.
  • Painless
    • An Emeyan that is Painless suffers no pain and is therefore not deterred by taking damage or by effects that specifically aim to cause pain. It continues to take damage as normal, but will not be distracted by the pain of their injuries.
  • Humanoid
    • An Emeyan with this trait has a humanoid appearance and the benefits that come with it. Though it doesn’t have to resemble a human, it possesses the abilities of a humanoid and is capable of speech, has opposable thumbs and two legs unless otherwise specified. Can be combined with other traits for strange creature combinations.
  • Commander
    • Setting themselves truly apart from their lesser brethren, the Commander is a Emeyan with the ability to command and dominate other creatures and Emeyans of lesser rank than itself. It is able to impose its authority on creatures around it, commanding them according to its own will. This authority is executed in the form of direct verbal or telepathic commands (based on the Commander's communicative abilities), independent of if the creature in question possesses the ability to understand their language. The commanded creature will be compelled to execute the command, as long as it does not go against their Purpose, and unless they possess natural resistances to mental magics and control or high Meditation or Discipline, they must obey.

Dates & Seasons
We're rolling into the new Cycle. The Rebirth Cycle marks the Winter and Spring seasons of the Arc, and begins with the season of Cylus.
Image
Long cold days leave the world in a constant state of twilight. Living outdoors becomes extremely difficult due to the icy temperatures and flora and fauna suffer during this time. Grass dies making livestock, who need to eat more to survive the harsh conditions, difficult to feed, and a lot of trees fall into dormancy, slowing down their metabolism and energy consumption in order to survive the season until the sun comes up again.

While the days slowly tick on, the sun begins to sink to the horizon before finally being blocked by one of Idalos' slow orbiting moons. The stationary effect of this moon, however, is partly due to the Ellune and their dormant ruler, Treid. His influence over the moons, and his less than favorable views of Faldrun, prevent the moon from showing any light for 30 trials. A curse he enacted to punish Faldrun for his backhanded and wicked ways, Treid was incapacitated by Audrae before he could remove it. Now the world suffers sunless for 30 trials an Arc, until the light of Ashan touches it once more.
Image
The first few weeks of Ashan are rigidly cold. Though the sun finally makes its appearance from Cylus, it takes many trials before the ice melts away into puddles, blooming flowers and grass. Ashan experiences a cold period, lasting for a quarter of the season before the temperature finally heats up enough to begin sowing crops for the Arc. Ashan is mainly known for it's spring weather, gentle breezes, and the rebirth of plant life. Barren trees slowly sprout buds of leaves and flowers, releasing a green haze of pollen while green grass grows slowly from the wet soil. Dead leaves from the previous season are swallowed up during this cycle, providing nutrients for new life growing from the ground.

Ashan lasts a total of 123 trials (days) while experiencing pretty moderate weather. Later in the season, rain clouds become a common thing, depending on the environment. The temperature begins to heat up while the green haze of pollen dies away and the budding plant life fully sprouts into bushy trees, thick grass, and lively, colorful flowers. As the season closes, the temperature rises, ushering in stronger storms and much hotter weather.

Staff Changes

Unfortunately, the past season has seen two Prophets retire from Standing Trials, although we still hope to see them active as their PCs. Please join me in thanking Tempest and Vulpes for all their contributions.

As well, I'd like to reiterate that while we're aware this is a volunteer role, there are certain standards of communication for Peer Reviewers/Wiki Workers/Prophets to communicate with the rest of staff for hiatuses or absences.

Please see the following article for more information if there are any staffers current or those wishing to join, what is expected. Activity Guidelines/Requirements. There are certain standards of communication for Peer Reviewers/Wiki Workers/Prophets to communicate with the rest of staff for hiatuses or absences. As well as being basic courtesy to fellow reviewers, it allows us to understand and be aware of how many Peer Reviewers / Wiki Workers / Prophets we have at any given time - this is important for knowing what we can take on and what needs focus.

On that note, we have good news, in that Fate and Wanderer have decided to take on Prophet duties, and will be running their own cities in Melrath and Yaralon (respectively) which will be opening this cycle!

Cities & Areas Open and Supported by City Mods
The following Cities are Open and have City Moderators presiding over them. This means they will have active Calendars, Events, and will moderate threads for players. These city moderators are on hand to provide active support for their cities.
  • Melrath - Fate
  • Rharne - Pig Boy
  • Scalvoris - Peg and Avalon
  • The Eternal Empire - Basilisk

  • Yaralon - The Wanderer

Cities Under Active Development
Avena - A new island in the West whose development will be headed up by the lovely Avalon. A place of culture and learning! Stay tuned! For a preview, here's a blurb written by Avalon:

"The smell of exotic spices lingers throughout what most call a peaceful paradise. By day, a gleaming epicenter of culture and craftsmanship, capable of seducing people’s senses without the slightest concern. A place where the artisans of all trades come to learn and showcase their skills for friendly locals and adoring tourists alike, seeking acclaim and renown. The best always find their way there eventually…

What makes the city shine in the light of day? The answer is shimmering irizat, the resident crown jewel of resources. Gleaming roofs, overlaid with irregular tiles of the mollusk byproduct, pieced together like stained glass – a tradition from the early trials - showcases the prevailing architectural style: form, function, beauty.

As the sun(s) disappears beyond the horizon and the remaining luminosity shifts from dusk to twilight, the city comes alive with light and energy. The music beckons from candlelit concert halls and amphitheaters. Colorful illumination of the city’s art galleries ensnares one’s gaze, bouncing off the ever-present irizat, producing some of the most dazzling displays in Idalos.

But as every coin has two sides, so does every city. Illusions, created by those protecting purpose and longevity, can be broken by those willing and stubborn enough to seek out the dark underground that hides in plain sight.

None of this do you suspect as you approach the city – by air or water - captivated by the rocky cliffs that form the base, laboring under the lofty expectations of those that founded the place you now find yourself.

The Isle of Avena awaits you...."

Yaralon - It's opening this cycle but there are many opportunities to develop it as it grows! Here's a basic blurb on the city itself:

"With the deaths of several immortals confirmed and the return of dragons to Idalos, tensions have begun to rise within the hierarchy of Yaralon. New mercenary companies and would-be merchant emperors/empresses are looking to exploit the reopening of the city to foreigners while old powers fight in the streets and in the shadows to hold onto the status they've killed for."

Melrath - Melrath will be reopening which also presents special development fun as the lore progresses from prior storylines. Fate will be spearheading all of those efforts as the Storyteller of Melrath. Here's a blurb written by them:

"Melrath has been quiet in the aftermath of global events. Despite its isolation the world turns, and change comes to the Valley of the Induks as the great spirits and their worshipers must adjust to a world that has seen the rise of other powerful Induks, and the return of Dragons. The Great Houses struggle with the Circle to keep power and wealth. The traditionalist clash with the modernist as to where the nations future lay. With its vast forest, and craggy mountains adventures can easily forge there own name without ever entering the political hotbeds of the cities. Come and forge you own legend however your passions take you."

Community Updates!
Rather than something every month, which I realised will overlap with this - I'm going to put the Community Updates here.

Currently, staff are working on the following:
  • Working on streamlining the Site Guides & where they are. This project is an all around team effort. If anyone wishes to adopt it for their selves, please speak up!
  • NPC updates and revamp - This project is an all around team effort. If anyone wishes to adopt it for themselves, please speak up!
  • More Effigies are forthcoming! This is being headed up by Basilisk and is ongoing.
  • Valtharn's blessing is also being developed.
  • Daia's blessing is being developed! Exalted line is up for feedback, and the curses will be next!
  • Darius is leading on trying to streamline the languages we have on Idalos - on giving them descriptions and so on. This is ongoing.
  • We're working on simplifying the Shoppe - on making 1 page per Wealth Tier that gives you an overview of that Tier, and the Shoppe only being for buying things outside your Tier. I'm leading on this but it's kind of stalled a bit. If anyone would like to help, that would be very gratefully received.
  • There's a new race (from beyond the Barriers at the edge of the world) and some new magic(s) in the process of being dev'd.
  • We're thinking that maybe the whole of creation started when a mouse laughed. Deep lore /ancient history clarification is forthcoming.
  • There's an ongoing discussion on Ghosts. ~ if someone would jump start the discussion again, it can be found here: Ghost Skills and such
  • Glamour has been released!
  • Draithadir's Effigy is in Feedback phase. Maybe consider volunteering as a Peer Reviewer or Wiki Worker if you want to participate in feedback! Basilisk is heading up the development of this Effigy.
  • Immortal Personalities Chart is being worked on by Basilisk also!
  • We're working on a 1-5 guide for how likely an Immortal is to mark a specific person meeting certain criteria.

Tech Guy!
I can't even begin to explain all the things Tech Guy has done for us over the last few years and this continues. We've had a lot of updates, including an automated review system, an automated XP / skill ledger - lots and lots of things! If you're not up to date then start here in the updates! Massive, enormous thanks to Tech Guy for all he's done and continues to do. There's also still so much more to come, such as Tier 2 skills being added, and the UCP skill system exiting beta. Thanks go out to Pegasus who's worked side by side with Tech Guy through all of this.

Also thanks for excerpts, say code, and integrating the Calendar into the forum structure!! Here's to any ongoing developments you have coming. They truly have been a gift.

Heya Players,

We're starting a little something different, somewhat in the spirit of the NaNoWriMo, since we're a writing site it seems appropriate to take the opportunity to have some fun and earn some fun rewards by starting and completing threads and GST's and collabs.

Here's how I see it breaking down.

5 Threads Completed 10 Threads Completed 15 Threads Completed 25 Threads Completed 50 Threads Completed
Penny Medal Nickel Medal Dime Medal Quarter Medal Gold Medal
TBD TBD TBD TBD TBD
TBD TBD TBD TBD TBD

In addition, for players who collab or GST, those will be weighted differently than solos, which are worth 1 thread credit if they're within the recommended word count.

This will apply to threads/stories started after the 15th of October 2023 from this announcement.

Each level of reward will be tallied at the end of the period at the beginning of December 2023. You will get the highest reward that you qualify for at that point. The rewards are not cumulative for lower level rewards.

Wardens of the River

History of the Wardens

History isn't held in much importance to Zynyx. Whether there has been a history of the Induk choosing mortals to represent them or not is a matter for guesswork. All that matters is that now and in the future, it will be so. Time flows like a river, and who's to say this isn't just a pattern repeating itself? Zynyx isn't one to spoil the surprise if that be true. But it's just as likely that Zynyx got jealous of the other Induks suddenly awakening and handing out their boons to mortals again.

The River Wardens

Almost more of a social group than a para-militant group of protectors or super-powered spiritual magi, Zynyx chooses his servants carefully, selecting for their love of travel, as well as their long itineraries. He doesn't abide people who are reticent or protective of information, property, or themselves even. He's a very open Induk, and enjoys welcoming all so long as they make life on his waters 'interesting'. He often opts to grant his boon to carefree souls who are generous, free, and fun-loving.

The intitiation by Zynyx is rarely one of service or quid pro quo. He wants to be entertained above all, and often his initiation quests or ceremonies will reflect just that need for entertainment, or sharing of a good time. He doesn't abide people of a dull temperament.

To become a Warden
TBD

If you wish to become a Warden you must either:

A.) Speak with a local Prophet about being initiated.
B.) Seasonal PC Initiation (Special): Each Warden has the ability to initiate one person a season into the Wardens even while not in the presence of The Riverman Zynyx. The Riverman Zynyx is connected to all Wardens so it is technically possible for the Heart to reach out through existing Wardens in order to initiate a new member in a pinch. However this is an uncomfortable process for the Initiator.
Off Topic

Seasonal PC Initiation Details
NOTE:Before any form of initiation you must register as an applicant OOC and a moderator must approve the initiation attempt. This allows us to be aware of all of those being initiated so we can step in if we don't believe that the character in question would be suitable as a Warden of Lovalus.

Apply here to become a Warden of Zynyx

Regardless of the manner in which you are initiated you must stand before the power of the Riverman Zynyx (whether that be one of his existing wardens, or the Riverman himself) and entertain them in one manner or another. Only those who impress the Riverman with their delivery, their comedy, tragedy, drama, or just sheer skill at performing will be accepted as a Warden of Zynyx. He'll also accept substantial bribes as a mode of initiation, if the sales pitch is good enough.

Your Diri:
Once your performance or sales pitch has been made, the Riverman Zynyx will reach out and bond you with a Diri and grant you the starting power of a Warden. (Described in detail below). These are Diri charged with challenging mortals and strengthening them through adversity at best. They will be the new Warden’s guide and are also a source of your power. Diri can appear in a variety of strange forms but these Diri will always appear rather small. (Perhaps the size of a small animal) They can levitate, and speak telepathically with the Warden. The Diri cannot be seen by anyone other than their fellow Wardens and their Diri, although they can choose to reveal themselves to other mortals. Immortals and Induks can also see them.

You will need to write up your new Diri, and include their name, appearance, and personality and post it here . This must be approved before you may use your Diri in a thread. Make sure you include their name, appearance and personality.

Warden Ranks

Ranking Up is done automatically, you must keep track of your points in your CS and we will strive to do so here as well. Once you have enough points you may begin learning your new ability.

0 Points - Initiates: These are people who may have just gotten lucky enough to impress Zynyx with a clever joke that he's never herard, or otherwise presenting an amazing bribe that bowled him over in either its value or rarity. Or perhaps Zynyx just likes the cut of their jib.

20 points - Reveler: Beyond luck, these wardens have proven beyond luck that they belong in Zynyx's special club of fun-loving, adventure seeking adventurers. Whenever meeting Zynyx, he will expect them to have stories to tell, or else he'll send them on a tailspin that ends in a story or anecdote worth telling.

40 Points - Rambler: At this point the Warden will have been on their share of adventures and travels, made a few trades, impressed more than a few people with their wit, charm, or ability to perform. These are the regulars of Zynyx's circle of friends, who can boast that they have Zynyx's ear and almost be believed.

60 Points - Impresario: These Wardens of Zynyx are known as some of the more prominent showmen, travelers, traders, and all around fun people to be around. They have accumulated a raft of abilities including one that turns what might be a mundane trip, into a epic and zany chase through dramatic event after dramatic event.

80 Points - Riverman: These are the precious closest Wardens of Zynyx, shy only in their value to Zynyx to the Grand Wardens themselves. The Riverman Zynyx considers them, whether man woman or otherwise, his living reflection, and the bearers of his legacy of fun, travel, and treasure. These Wardens do in fact have the ear of the Riverman, and are able to call one of his helpers to their side at will.

100 Points - Grand Wardens : The Grand Warden(s) are considered the luminaries of Zynyx's personal social group or club. These individuals are charming, resourceful travelers who are regarded as famed explorers regardless of renown and are the only Wardens capable of channeling the power of the River Induk through themselves. Every order of the Grand Wardens are heeded by the rest of the faction as if it were law. Grand Wardens can use the Avatar of River ability.

The Riverman enjoys long and meandering adventures that while not necessarily leading to a sensible conclusion, are at the very least entertaining through the main body of them. The journey is much more important than the destination. Traveling to distant lands, making voyages that are anything but routine, or being generous with anyone and everyone will earn more favor with Zynyx. Performances are also enjoyed by the Induk of Zynyx, so long as their delivery doesn't become a routine.

Collab Points: You may request an extra two points per PC that accompanies your Warden during the course of the thread. Working with others is important and you should be rewarded for building up the reputation of your faction.

Regardless of the manner in which you are initiated you must stand before the power of the Den of Umbral and swear a personal vow. This vow is something your character will come up with on their own, but you must make it clear that you are dedicating yourself to giving sanctuary to all who seek it in Rharne. These words must be utterly true otherwise Umbral will detect your lack of sincerity. It must also judge you as being capable of a certain level of open-mindedness and neutrality in equal measure. All who seek it deserve shelter within the Den of Umbral.

Dandelion

Rumor 1: News of a Buckwheat Beer has trickled down from the Sky Quarter, to the lower Quarters of Rharne City. As such, Dandelion will find a decent amount of beer tourists showing up at Rosebay wondering where the watering hole is.

Rumor 2: Dandelion is praised for his part in the fire fighting late last cycle. However, a strange rumor emerges that he can move through the earth with the ease of water. Occasionally an annoying request to test the rumor may emerge from those he encounters. Reputation Excellent

Faith Augustin

Rumor 1: General disbelief that Faith is gone, and that there's no trace of her soul left on the world of Idalos. People mourn the loss of a great force for good, and wonder what the future might hold. There are rumors of ghosts seen who bear a resemblance to Faith in several parts of Rharne. However, any Zuuda called to investigate will debunk this vehemently.

Rumor 2: In spite of the confirmation that Faith has indeed passed on, rumors of an unnamed Wisp, glowing red wandering through the halls of the Willow Tree Hospital persist. Is this an echo of Faith herself? Or merely some anomaly of the magic that went into building the hospital?

Accolade: Given the chaos of the Hot Cycle, the memorial for Faith had been cancelled, and was rescheduled for the middle of Vhalar instead. Multitudes of Igelak wash up on the shores nearby the WIllow Tree Hospital, where the Memorial is to be held. They all come to pay respects to one of the mortals that saved them from slavery to Pearl Hopper. Reputation Legendary.

Orik Qe'Ryn

Rumor 1: Orik is rumored to have beaten a higher ranked priestess in the Thunder Priesthood in a drinking contest. Suddenly, when visiting taverns, he finds himself the subject of many challenges to drinking contests, or arm wrestling alternatively, as everyone wants to be the toughest drinker or arm wrestler, who beat someone who beat a Thunder Priest of such high rank. Reputation Positive.

Perdita Westcott

Rumor: Perdita is rumored to be a grandmaster basketweaver, as reports filter in of her efforts to catch slimes with copper-wire baskets begins to spread. She finds herself the recipient of many invites to basket-weaving clubs or societies across Rharne's territory, and also the giftee of many basket weaving materials, including metal wire of various kinds. Less welcome perhaps are the requests for special basket designs, that are somewhat beyond her current skill to accomplish. Reputation Very Positive.

Praetorum

Rumor: It's rumored that somehow, Praetorum is the son of a benevolent dragon, and in fact has attained some form of power from the awakening dragons across Idalos. Many requests from annoying townsfolk come, and some perhaps flattering, asking him to prove his heritage by breathing fire, or sprouting wings and flying away.

Accolade: Praetorum and by extension Skydas Company is given preferred status among the military of Rharne. He will find much of the intelligence about criminal and Shadow Quarter activity, and also enemy movements are shared with his Company almost automatically, through an echo scroll that is gifted to him. Such is Rharne's trust in Praeotrum and Skydas Company. (Any wealth threads pursued while in Rharnean territory or for Rharnean interests abroad as a mercenary will earn him an extra 5 WP) Reputation Heroic.

Seira Shiryu

Rumor: A rumor spreads that claims Seira snores in a sing-song voice. This is not commented on by the hospital workers tending to her during her coma, and anyone trying to ascertain the truth of it is vehementlly rebuked by them, turned away at the door.

Accolade: Should Seira awaken in the next cycle, or afterward, she'll find her hospital room filled with all manner of flowers, stuffed animals, poems written by Shadow Walkers, and also seeds from the local herbalists. In addition, an un-labeled gift that is a small red lantern, which has no visible flame to it, but strobes in rhythym with Seira's heartbeat. Somehow, she knows it's from Seriel. Reputation Excellent

Vivian Shiryu

Rumor: Vivian is said to be considered a very important person in the military, an increasingly important person given her recent defense of Rharne's borders against monsters, Rhaum, and even treating with the Melrathi beasts that had gone wild on their shores. It's even said that Ilaren is considering handing over the leadership of the Knights to her champion.

Rumor 2: It's speculated that Vivian is, in fact, the mortal incarnation of an Induk of Storms. Many rumors persist that she can summon enough wind and lightning to bring down the spires of Volta.

Accolade: Ilaren is considered for leadership, as the current Head of the Lightning Knights considers retirement, stepping down to a lesser rank in order to focus on family matters. However, in order to rise to the heights of the Lightning Knights, as their General, she will have to meet with both the current General and Ilaren, and give an interview to ascertain her suitability for the role.

Accolade: Ilaren has a task for VIvian. The privateers operating out of Athart have rown restless, and are invading all along the Zynyx River. Ilaren has declared that VIvian is to be made the Commander of the Expeditionary forces. She's given broad latitude in how she deals with the privateer threat of the Windshear Brotherhood. Reputation Heroic

Winston Miller

Rumor: Winston is rumored to actually be a mutated rodent that emerged from the sewer one day when their warren burned down during the Sliming of Rharne. Tall tales, and small stories begin getting shared among the populace of Rharne, particularly among children, about the noble rat that rose from humble origins to save the city from harm.

Accolade: Along with the rumors of Winston's humble origins, toy-makers capitalize on the sudden explosion popularity of the Cadouri hero, by putting out Winston Plushies of varying degrees of quality. Some of them bear a striking resemblance, others are less faithful to the source image of Winston Miller. Reputation Excellent
Old Rumours:
Old Rumours

Balthazar Black

Rumor: Rumors persist that Balthazar and Ilaren met after the All-Taverns Tournament. Ilaren insists that it was just a training session for the Star of the Tournament, but the more she denies it, the more rumors persist there was more to that meeting. It's thought that perhaps Balthazar is a secret agent for Ilaren, who has infiltrated Scalvoris society. Reputation Very Positive

Dandelion

Rumor: Some people outside of Eureka who know of and have heard of Dandelion have begun to wonder if he's a telepath, that can communicate without speaking. This rumor is tempered though by the people of Eureka, who assure anyone who asks that he simply speaks with his hands.

Rumor: Word has spread that Dandelion has established his own settlement in the new Stormlakes region in late Saun. It's speculated that perhaps he has some faustian bargain struck with Lovalus in order to cause the rainfall of last season, but this is only heard from the truly delirious gossips.

Rumor: It's whispered that a group of tunawa slaves have taken residence in Rosebay, and this is how Dandelion was able to start agricultural pursuits so late in the growing season.

Accolade: People call for the formation of a Civil Office of Agriculture in Rharne. Dandelion is floated, quietly, as a potential candidate for the position. Whether he takes the opportunity or not, he will find his profile and that of Rosebay rising. Several settlers will petition to join the growing settlement (OOC: optional consequence, must be threaded in order to count the settlers)

Elisabeth Angelus

Rumor: There's a rumor that Elisabeth is a powerful Empath, who managed to thwart the anger of the crowds attending the tournament as she forfeited the Semi-Final. Reputation Positive

Eliza Soule

Rumor: A curious rumor begins to circulate about Eliza Soule, claiming that she is somehow the daughter of Ymiden and Ywyngyll, formed out of one of the Hearts of Unibor itself and given life. Amusing conversations persist about whether she's tunawa beneath her skin, or if that's just the color of her 'bark'.

Accolade: Eliza Soule dreams of ducks one night, specifically the ducks that live in the pond behind her house. Here, they talk to her, as if commissioning a family portrait from her. When she awakes, she will find a brush in her hand, although she may not remember having fallen asleep with it in hand. The ducks are quacking loudly outside, but there's no disturbance. They just seem more spirited this day. Reputation Slightly Positive

Faith Augustin

Rumor 1: After turning into a glowing tree in the middle of the Lightning Dome, Faith Augustin is believed to be the daughter of Ashan by many who witnessed the miracle.

Rumor 2: A strange rumor begins circulating about Faith Augustin, that she is related in some way to the deceased necromantress, Ellasin. Where this rumor came from is a mystery, it just seemed to pop up out of nowhere and trying to trace the source of the rumor leads to dead end after dead end.

Rumor 3: It's speculated that Faith has devised a way through her extensive medical knowledge to create a body double that follows her will to the letter. Rumor has it that this is how Faith manages to get so much done.

Rumor 4: Faith hasn't been heard much of, even as the progress on her hospital has somewhat stalled in the wake of the agreements to establish it. Some speculate that she joined the Skydas Company under Praetorum, and left to join him on a quest to liberate Sirothelle from the Faldrunites.

Accolade: There are calls for Faith to assume a more active religious role in the city, and some people, particularly a section of Quacian refugees, wish for a joint temple to Famula, Vri, and Moseke with her as the high priestess. Some are even suggesting a broader, ecumenical role that develops, incorporates, and represents the various religious interests and aspects of Rharnean culture. There's some movement on the council, from adversaries as well as allies, to give her a better defined role. Her adversaries promote this idea to limit her influence, while her allies wish to harness her specific talents in the best way possible.

Gennadiya Lyosha

Rumor: Rumor has it that Gennadiya is the daughter of one of the Kingpins of the Shadow Quarter, and that's why she does so much good. To make up for the evil that their parent has wrought on the city.

Accolade: For her great service to the city and the populace, Ilaren has offered to pay the entirety of Gennadiya's Wedding expenses. Please notify me if you wish to take advantage of this gift (mod note and reward) ReputationHeroic

Kasoria

Rumor: Rumor has it that Kasoria murdered the cousin of a highly placed person in the Shadow Quarter. He becomes the toast of some taverns, and can expect a hidden shiv in others.

Accolade: Kasoria has rubbed some people wrong while pursuing his magic, and engaging in the dumping of bodies and dispatching of smugglers. As such, he will find a bounty hunter on his tail in the following cycles, who will pursue him across the Eastern Continent. Apparently there's a bounty of ten Onyx Nels on his head. Reputation Suspicious (Positive by the Shadow Quarter)

Revan Blackhand (As Grimwald)

Rumor: His guise, Grimwald, is known as a dillegent and loyal worker for the Rharne Prison, it's nevertheless rumored that Grimwald is actually a long-lost mortalborn of Beleara and that he has a dual life as a villainous scoundrel. This rumor is widely discredited however, by those who know Grimwald and doesn't really form legs to travel. Reputation Slightly Positive

Rumor: It's speculated that Gennadiya Lyosha is adopting the Imperial custom of holding several spouses. These rumors intensify as she is seen dating no less than six different men in quick succession.

Rumor: The establishment of a support group for addiction by Gennadiya becomes a widely known project run by the healer. It's speculated that this is some ploy by Gennadiya to rope Ilaren into quitting alcohol, put upon her by Ymiden himself.

Rumor: Gennadiya is seen to be proposed to by a Lightning Knight. However the identity of the said Lightning Knight being obscure, the people of Rharne who hear of it fill in the blank with a more well known Lightning Knight, the Commander, Vig'tyrn Urien, who they assume to be the lucky man.

Accolade: Gennadiya is already the head of the Order of the Adunih in Rharne, but now people are wondering if she should take a greater, more global role in that organization or branch out. There's even talk about establishing a state health service, and she is considered as a potential councilor for the establishment of such.

Leander

Rumor: Since solving the dying cattle crisis in prior seasons, word has cropped up and it's speculated that Leander can speak to dead cows simply by reading the patterns of their entrails on the ground, a real Augur. MooooOOOoooOOo.

Rumor: Since Leander is making small waves in the community by donating his time to the Order of the Adunihi, and also becoming a student of Tristan Venora, people begin to speculate and wonder more about who this mysterious man is. There is a rumor that he's an exiled noble from Viden, or else an intelligence operative of Yvithia. People begin to assume that he knows things, and this may lead to uncomfortable questions being asked of him.

Accolade: Seen in the company of socialites in the Glass Quarter, as well as helping out in the Order of the Adunih, Leander's star is ever so slowly growing in Rharne. People begin to seek out their expertise, and he begins receiving more commissions for potions and medicines across the various organizations of the city. Reputation Positive

Praetorum

Rumor: There's a rumor that Praetorum intentionally threw his match in the All-Taverns Tournament in order to make way for his friends, Balthazar and Elisabeth Angelus.

Rumor: A rumor emerges that Praetorum is capable of seeing out of every corner of the Zynyx region, and that this was what contributed to his culling of the River Pirates. These rumors gain traction, when certain people around Rharne complain of hearing a vague ringing in their ears when near him.

Rumor: Rumored to be on an errand for a newly awakened dragon, Praetorum is thought to be pursuing a war campaign against the Faldrunite faithfuls in Sirothelle, however little else is known of his activities there, which has led to a rise in activity among the River Pirates.

Accolade: Praetorum's presence in the Stormlands as a stabilizing force is missed. Messengers are sent far and wide to ask Praetorum to return from his crusade and aid the people of Rharne against the growing menace of the WIndshear Brotherhood of Athart. Help us Praetorum, you're our only hope. ReputationExcellent

Thomas Karver

Rumor: Captain Karver is reputed to reneg on his trade agreements, and to drop cargo at the first sign of storms or pirates. However, as many don't know what Thomas Karver looks like, this will only be a problem should he conduct the negotiation under his real name. Reputation Mostly Unknown

Tristan Venora

Rumor: It's rumored that Tristan has brought in even more Rynmerish refugees, given a sudden influx from lands to the north of Westwind. Whether rightlly or wrongly, the people in large part attribute this migration to Tristan's efforts to ease tensions between Rharneans and Rynmerish.

Rumor: A rumor persists among cat-lovers in the Glass Quarter that Tristan's cat Mistral is actually a totem locked mortalborn mage, who is the son of Aelig.

Accolade: A few cycles after the creation of the Rynmere Memorial, there is a movement from Rynmerish refugees that wishes for Tristan to take their people from the city of Rharne, those willing to move, and petition Ilaren to form a new Duchy under Rharne for them to build anew. Somewhere in the Stormlakes Region Reputation Heroic

Vincent Steinitz

Rumor: Known as a villainous rake who groped a woman during Buskerfest, Vincent is thought to have fathered a number of bastards, and when recognized is infrequently even approached by young children and orphans who think he's their father. Reputation Slightly Negative

Rozkia

Rumor: Rumor has it that Rozkia (known as the Naer that raked the Angler) is related to the Witch Doctor, and is in fact her granddaughter.

Rumor: There's a rumor floated that Rozkia is marked by Yvithia, and is in fact a spy from Viden. ReputationSlightly Negative

Seira Shiryu

Rumor: Rumor is that Seira has decided to quit singing somber and sad songs. This upsets her most devoted fans, the Shadow Walkers, who are found loitering around her home, leaving gifts, flowers, and other valuables in hopes of encouraging her to return to singing.

Rumor: Rumor has it, that Seira is secretly a master gardener, who can identify no less than forty facts on every herb on the Eastern continent.

Accolade: Seira is noted for her voice now, and many beyond her usual fanbase have begun to crave the unique sound and artistry she brings to the stage. A strange and somewhat unique offer comes to her one night, after she performs. They are a director for an upcoming opera, titled "The Grace of Leviana", Leviana being Ilaren's deceased daughter. It's up to her whether she'd like to take this role up or turn it down. They of course request her as the titular character's actress.

Dates & Seasons
We're rolling into the new Cycle. The Cold Cycle marks the Autumn and Winter seasons of the Arc, and begins with the season of Vhalar.
Image
Vhalar is described as the season of harvest, where vegetables, herbs, and other produce are ripe for reaping one last time. During the beginning of this season, the temperature is still fairly hot, even though the second sun has moved away. As the trials progress, the weather cools while the leaves slowly change from thriving green to lively red, yellow, auburn, and purple. The grass wilts and hardly any color is saved by the end of the season except for the pines and other shrubs and trees. Vhalar takes on a chill during its final days before sinking into the cold season of Zi'da.

Vhalar lasts a total of 123 trials (days). It is a festive time for most cities as the temperature mid-season is quite enjoyable.
Image
Zi'da rolls in, bringing with it the cold winds of death. This season was named in honor of the Immortal Daia, after she was struck down at the hands of a human, thus manifesting the war between deities presently. Zi'da is a cool season that only progressively gets colder. Very few flora survive during this time and the trees, barren and lifeless. Animals have settled down to hibernate while the only real noise that disturbs the peaceful silence of Zi'da are the humans that walk about and the Immortals that fight for control. Snow is common during this season, along with freezing rain and blizzards.

Zi'da lasts for a total of 93 trials (days). Though it is considered a cold season, the weather and chill of Zi'da pales in comparison to Cylus.

Staff Changes

We've had Jackalope return from his hiatus to return to Peer reviewing duties and he's been killing it ever since along with our other active reviewers. We'd like to thank all peer reviewers for all the work they've been doing. We went from a month long wait in the middle of the cycle for review, to waiting only a week tops for a review. Great job!

Unfortunately Avalon has been stepped down from moderation this past cycle, we hope to see her return in her PC guise, but in any event wish her well.

Also, we'd like to point anyone to Activity Guidelines/Requirements if you want to join the ranks of volunteers.

Community Updates!
Rather than something every month, which I realised will overlap with this - I'm going to put the Community Updates here. Aside from that, one very major update is that we've brought back the global Discord, and dissolved the city Discords. If you wish to join the Global Discord, please send a PM to a staff member.

Currently, staff are working on the following:
  • Working on streamlining the Site Guides & where they are. This project is an all around team effort. If anyone wishes to adopt it for their selves, please speak up!
  • More Effigies are forthcoming! This is being headed up by Basilisk and is ongoing.
  • Valtharn's blessing is also being developed.
  • Pact Magic is being worked on. A magic meant to form magical contracts/geas but not limited to those.
  • A new race from the Misty Miasma is being worked upon.
  • Daia's Mark has been fully released!
  • Draithadir's Effigy has been fully released. Only two Effigies of the Ruin's Dawn dragons have yet to be developed.
  • Immortal Personalities Chart has been nearly finished, and will be ready for publishing soon!
  • We're working on a 1-5 guide for how likely an Immortal is to mark a specific person meeting certain criteria.
  • New Methods of learning magic is being discussed in the Peer Review and Wiki Work forum, if you'd like to get involved in the discussion consider volunteering. The new method will involve other ways of learning magic, that don't involve implanting an alien parasite into your soul. It is nearing completion.
  • New races from beyond the Miasma are being considered for inclusion into our lore by Squirrel. Stay tuned for more info, as it develops!
  • Tech Guy is looking at automating more of the calendar process to make the transition easier for players and moderators!

He does more for the site than is immediately visible at any time, but rest assured the site runs as smoothly as it does because of his help.

The Wardens of Umbral and Storm and Zynyx (WIP)

Wardens of the Storm

History of the Wardens

Before Volta was founded, before the incursions of the Flameborn, the coasts of Rharne were host to a regular storm-cycle that made settling the area nigh impossible. This had the effect of ensuring that while the settlement that predated Rharne was relatively protected from anyone who would attack by sea, it isolated the place. Eventually, the Flameborne did come with Faldrun's forces to raze and destroy the lands of Rharne, turning the dry fields south of Rharne into the Stormwastes.

While this conflict was unfolding in the south and east of Ilaren's settlement on the banks of the Lovalus, a group of pirates, said to be serving a Storm Induk, razed and destroyed the settlement. A few arcs later, after much turmoil had been wrought by these pirates even though the Wardens of the Lake foguth to defend Rharne, an ancient champion of Ilaren decided to take the fight to this Induk, and also drive the Storm Wardens from Rharne entirely by locking away the source of their power, the Storm Induk himsefl, Clemengoth. This Champion, named Volta, founded a town on the estuary of the Zynyx, which was built with the express purpose of trapping and diminishing the power of the Induk. Great scientific and alchemical works were established in the town, the three Spires of Volta became one of the wonders of the world, keeping the vociferous lightning storms and fury of the typhoon induk at bay. It turned out the lightning was the key to diminishing his power, and soon enough regular hurricanes and typhoons became but a memory, and prosperity and trade ensued for the fledgling mountain city of Rharne.

Yet Clemengoth raged against Volta still, but futilely as the Spires deflected his anger and bottled it into energy for the alchemical and scientific works undergone in Volta.

The First Storm Wardens

The first Wardens were little more than opportunistic raiders, thieves, and murderers who pillaged and plundered their way up and down the coast, and along the Zynyx River even. Clemengoth found their prclivity for clearing the works of mortals appealing, almost as much as he admired the mortals who rebuilt time and again in the wake of his fury.

The New Storm Wardens

The New Storm Wardens have yet to define themselves, asa they've only returned to the world. However, their stated mission as defined by their current leader, Esher, is to be the sword to Lovalus' shield, and protect Rharne from its enemies by utilizing the power of the Storm Induk. It's an outward facing group of spiritual warriors.

To become a Warden
TBD

If you wish to become a Warden you must either:

A.) Request an existing Warden PC to initiate you within the Arc (Warden Headquarters)
B.) Speak with a local Prophet about being initiated.
C.) Seasonal PC Initiation (Special): Each Warden has the ability to initiate one person a season into the Wardens even while not in the presence of the Heart of Lovalus. The Heart of Lovalus is connected to all Wardens so it is technically possible for the Heart to reach out through existing Wardens in order to initiate a new member in a pinch.

Apply here to become a Warden of Clemengoth

Regardless of the manner in which you are initiated you must stand before the power of the Eye of Clemengoth and swear a personal vow. This vow is something your character will come up with on their own, but you must make it clear that you are dedicating yourself to challenging and strengthening the living within Rharne. These words must be utterly true otherwise the Eye will detect your lack of sincerity. It must also judge you as being capable of self-determination and a touch of ruthlessness doesn't hurt.

Your Diri:
Once your vow is spoken the Eye will reach out and bond you with a Diri and grant you the starting power of a Warden, TBD.

0 Points - Initiates: Initiates are spiritual recruits who have only just begun their introduction to Clemengoth's ways and modus operandi. They are encouraged to go out to sea, or stormy areas otherwise to be exposed to the tumult, and meditate upon the tremendous power of the Storm. Typically advancement comes by punishing the enemies of Rharne, rather than protection of Rharne's citizenry.

20 points - Caller: A Caller has proven their mettle against several enemies of Rharne by this time, honed and come to grips with their new abilities. Still there is an expectation to pursue the enemies of Rharne, with a focus on preemptive retribution.

40 Points - Rider: Riders of the Storm Wardens are now called to seek out threats to Rharne abroad, and almost expected to proselytize on behalf of the Eye of the Storm. Still the focus is on offensive actions, but with some measure of discretion as Rharne is not a militaristic or expansionist nation. Still Clemengoth smiles on those who return vengeance on those who insult Ilaren or Rharne.

60 Points - Destroyer: Commanders within the Storm Wardens, their word carries great weight with the rest of the Wardens. They are expected to put on a leadership role when it comes to their excursions on behalf of Rharne, Ilaren, and Clemengoth. Leadership qualities are valued here, as are the ability to intimidate and make the enemies of Rharne back down when they come to threaten.

80 Points - Tempest: Sages within the Wardens of the Storm, these powerful individuals can act either as leaders to lesser Wardens or great advisors to Clemengoth and the Grand Warden(s). Their command of the powers of the Storm are unquestioned, as they have attained an attunement with the spirits beyond what most others would expect to achieve.

100 Points - Grand Wardens : The Grand Warden(s) are considered the leaders of the order. These individuals are powerful, accomplished guardians who are regarded as almost holy and are the only Wardens capable of channeling the power of the Lake Induk through themselves. Every order of the Grand Wardens are heeded by the rest of the faction as if it were law. Grand Wardens can use the Avatar of Lovalus ability.

Warden Abilities

0 Points: Shadowsbane: Clemengoth has enhanced your weapons with the ability to give off a sudden flash of lightning that does no damage but lights up the immediate area (30 yards in radius). In the wake of that flash, it will tend to make those who threaten the Warden, Rharne, Clemengoth, Or Ilaren to their sight, marking them as a viable target for either questioning or combat.

20 Points: Nimbus of Storms: The purview of the Induk of Storms has always been the Wind, which presents itself as forcefully possessive of all matter around it, whether it be waters, earthen matter, or fire. As such, a Nimbus of Storms can be summoned twice a trial for around thirty breaks which grants a form of telekinesis. This is not a gentle manipulation, but a forceful pushing of matter and energy of any kind. It disrupts the flight of projectiles, can outright disrupt elemental attacks, or just push people out of harms way. It strikes with the force of hurricane force wind. The accuracy of any matter turned into a projectile by this power is determined by the Warden's skill at ranged combat.

40 Points: Lance of Storms: A large projectile of stone, coalesceing with the force of wind and lightning, can be send to strike at anyone the Warden identifies as a target. It will seek them out without regard for the Warden's aim. Like an intelligent missile. However, it can be dodged by a particularly agile opponent, or blocked by a mighty enough shield or obstacle.

60 Points: Stormborn Weapon: This ability grants the Warden to will their diri to enhance their own preferred weapon with the following effect, or else turns the diri into the shape of a spiritual weapon of their preferred type. The effect is such that it will automatically strike as if from a masterwork+ quality weapon, with the added ability to convey the energy of lightning into that strike. The result if it bypasses armor (armor that lacks some protection against lightning) is such that it will stun those of great endurance (Expert or Master) varying degrees of efficacy. In addition, i twill inflict burn wounds on top of whatever wounds the weapon itself does. This stormborn weapon will last ass long as many repeated blows. However it's not indestructible, and excessively beating it against a hard target will damage the diri, to where it must go dormant for three days once it breaks.

80 Points: Stormscrown: The connection between diri and Warden have become seamless. The Stormscrown is in effect a halo of chaotic storm energy that rotates around the head of the Warden that can be used at the same time as a Stormborn weapon, or separately while the diri is present. It acts as a passive defense, using the very air around the Storm Warden to deflect and sometimes outright block any attacks levied against it. In addition, the Stormscrown can be used to deliver lightning bolts, that stun, shock, and blind once per bit at any enemies. The damage done by these bolts is minimal, however, they are mainly an annoyance to fight against.

100 Points: Avatar of Clemengoth: When inducted as a Warden a special bond is formed between the Warden and the Eye of Clemengoth. This bond not only binds the mortal to a Diri but it also forms a silent but residual bond with the Induk of the Stormlands. It is only the most powerful of Wardens that can call upon this hidden bond and summon forth the power of the Storm Induk. This ability can be used anywhere due to the power of the Eye of Clemengoth, linking the Induk to all of his Wardens. Capable of being used once a season the Grand Warden may beseech Clemengoth to come to their aid. If this call is accepted, the Induk will reach out and infuse the Grand Warden with it’s will and it’s power. The Warden for a time will find that their consciousness melds with the strange and wild mind of the Induk. For that one moment they will no longer be wholly mortal. The Wardens eyes will turn dark gray of stormclouds and their skin will be radiant with electric energy.

The Grand Warden may then control and manipulate any air or lightning within a mile of their position. They will also be capable of summoning a Nimbus of Storms that is a mile wide and roughly two feet deep. The Air summoned will be capable of generating such force that can tear apart weak buildings and destroy smaller ships. the wounds of allies and additionally the Grand Warden can manipulate the air within it to toss aside and deprive enemies of their breath.

This ability can last for twenty bits before the Induk will withdraw, otherwise the Grand Warden’s body will begin to fail due to the power flowing through it. The Nimbus left behind can remain or be dismissed by the Grand Warden before the ability ends. If dismissed, the winds will dissipate in a explosive blast that rends the ears, and scatters debris.

Gaining Points and Ranking Up

By taking the fight to the enemies of Rharne, and seeking adventure against these enemies, A Warden may impress their Induk. In all things, Clemengoth smiles upon warriors and adventure seekers, even when they fail. As long as the failure makes them stronger.

Collab Points: You may request an extra two points per PC that accompanies your Warden during the course of the thread. Working with others is important and you should be rewarded for building up the reputation of your faction.

One must begin their journey at the mouth or source of the river, whatever the circumstances. Other than that, methods are described below.

Warden Abilities

0 Points - Initiates: Zynyx's Lucky Die: Initiates are given ways to spice up their ordinary lives, in order to more easily induct themselves to the higher echelons of of Zynyx's Club. They are given a four-sided die, counting from 1 to 4. When rolled, it will result in one of the following results:
  1. 1. Discovery: The Warden will suddenly get a sense that there's a point of interest nearby. Shold they find it, they'll be able to store a picture in memory, that when blown onto a bowl or cup of water, will show the point of interest they saw to anyone else. Then the memory will dissipate and they'll have to seek out the point of interest (or another) again in order to show once more.
  2. 2. Fellowship: Meant as a way to induct the Warden into circles they might not otherwise traffic in, the dice prompts an antagonistic exchange with the Warden with a likely nearby person. The Warden, if they manage to cool the situation down, will be able to track that person for twenty trials.
  3. 3. Sensation: The Warden will be afflicted with a sudden sensory twinge, an almost painful occurrence occuring to one of their senses. Should they manage to maintain face as they go through this, for twenty trials onward, they will be able to endure any amount of offense against that sense. Those who are treated to a grotesque sight will find that they cannot be blinded by flashes, or complete darkness. Those who are given over to a bad taste, will be able to keep down even the most disgusting drinks and food.
  4. 4. Scavenger Hunt: The Warden suddenly finds themselves deprived of four of your possessions (this can include clothing if you wish). The Warden must make an entertaining excuse to a random passerby in order to get a clue as to where one of the missing items is. Once they've found all four lost possessions, the items will perform at masterwork level or be of masterwork quality for twenty trials.
20 points - Reveler: Riverfone: The Warden receives the ability to speak to another through the open waterways of the world. The waterway must have a direct path (through water) to the waterway which they speak into, but once the receiving spot of water is found, they may call one they are acquainted with to the water to have a conversation.

40 Points - Rambler: Every mariner knows a river, a waterway of any kind is a highway, not a barrier to passage. The Rambler can conjure a temporary condition upon the terrain they travel, in order to allow a shallow keeled boat (anything schooner or smaller) to travel over that terrain. This lasts until their intended destination is reached. The power may be invoked once every five trials.

60 Points - Impresario: An Impresario is able to project the knowledge of their presence to a wider area, effectively commanding the atttention of a large crowd. This does not compel those who aren't inclined to watch whatever presentation the Impresario is putting on, but does make their presence known for anyone who does wish to be distracted by them. It takes some discipline to ignore them entirely. This power may be invoked at will.

80 Points - Riverman: The Riverman Warden can mark any point at any body of water that has an open path by way of water, to any other point in Idalos. Once marked (marks may be placed twice a season), the waterway may be reached within a break, as the power of Zynyx carries them to their chosen marked destination on the water.

100 Points - Grand Wardens : The Grand Wardens of Zynyx are given the handsome form of Zynyx ( a tall problin in a concierge outfit ) and then access to all the previous powers of the Wardens, without respect to cooldowns, range limitations, or duration. They may maintain the Avatar of Zynyx' form for up to twenty trials, before they will become entirely exhausted and need a period of twenty trials rest. This power can be used once an Arc.

Gaining Points and Ranking Up

Apply here to become a Warden of Umbral

Regardless of the manner in which you are initiated you must stand before the power of the Den of Umbral and swear a personal vow. This vow is something your character will come up with on their own, but you must make it clear that you are dedicating yourself to giving sanctuary to all who seek it in Rharne. These words must be utterly true otherwise Umbral will detect your lack of sincerity. It must also judge you as being capable of a certain level of open-mindedness and neutrality in equal measure. All who seek it deserve shelter within the Den of Umbral.

Your Diri:
Once your vow is spoken the Den will embrace and bond you with a Diri and grant you the starting power of a Warden, TBD. (Described in detail below). Current Rumours:

Azrael:

Rumor: It's said that Azrael is a Grandmaster Sculptor, who will do commissions for the highest bidder.

Accolade: Sightings of Azrael in the company of a high military official, a werewolf, and a commander of mercenaries has led to a string of strange bar-room jokes. A wereowl, a thunder priest, and Azrael walk into a bar, ask for drinks. The Bartender says... Etc that sorta thing. In addition, he's increasingly recognized in taverns in general, for whatever reason.

Gennadiya Lyosha:

Rumor: Speculation abounds that Gennadiya is the lovechild of not just any Shadow Quarter luminary, but the Cheshire himself. And that anyone who messes with her signs their own death warrant.

Accolade: Gennadiya acquitted herself well upon the opening of the Willow Tree Memorial hospital. Many hail her as a fitting successor to Faith Augustin, and funds pour into the Willow Tree Hospital's coffers, opening up the opportunity for Gennadiya in the next arc to work on the expansion of the facility, for a new ward of her own choosing.

Netzach Embersoul:

Rumor: In the gambling halls, it's whispered that Netzach has fallen prey to a ghostly possesion. And that as part of his faustian bargain, the ghost siphons his life force in exchange for a glimpse of the other players' card hands. Given his low level of renown he's recognized only some of the time, sometimes by name, othertimes by his face. Othertimes he's not recognized at all. Many dismiss this rumor as foolish superstition, at any rate.

Nir'wei:

Rumor: It's said that when in his wolf form, this famous wolf-walker can paint with all the colors of the winds.

Accolade: The Tribune Kennel wishes to make contact with Nir'wei, in order to commission his services as a trainer. They have a newly hatched litter of Barghests that they wish to have him bring up to Dire status. They are willing to make an exchange with his office in Scalvoris, for the trade of every breed of canine unique to Rharne, in exchange for this service.

Praetorum:

Rumor: Speculation has spread that Praetorum has lost his magic abilities. A mad dash ensues to find the site of his 'De-Sparking' in order to locate a non-existent well type known as a 'thirst diamond', rumored to have the power to transfer his arcane might to those who find and consume them.

Accolade: Praetorum is sent word that a job to explore the Rhaumine Fracture has been posted, and delivered specifically to his Skydas Company. The bounty is 50 wp, and the objective is to find out what the Blackout contains.

Revan Blackhand:

Rumor: A rumor begins to circulate, that links Revan to a jailer named Grimwald. Grimwald is sought for questioning regarding the mass escape of recent times, which Revan is implicated to have had a part in.

Vega:

Rumor: A peculiar rumor has arrived, that Vega had a hand in her niece's disappearance in the aftermath of the Rharne Fire. Most dismiss it, as Vega is a well known hero. However information brokers in the underworld and several of the abductees who have returned in prior seasons from their captivity swear it's true.

Vincent Steinitz:

Rumor: Rumors emerge that finger Vincent as the owner of a shop of illegal curios and antiques, the source of which are often under the table, and less than legitimate. However, the sources of these rumors always claim he has the real deal, however he came upon these goods.

Vivian Shiryu:

Rumor: Rumors of her other daughter's death or disappearance has led to a wave of sympathy for Vivian, flowers and other offerings showing at her home, and also at her office.

Accolade: Not only is she being seen as a prime candidate for leading the Rharnean military, but perhaps as a viceroy to Ilaren herself. Obviously she'll have to prove her mettle in the former role before she'll be considered as a Viceroy, and a Viceroy in Rharne has not been heard of since the inception of the semi-democratic Council of Rharne.

Dandelion

Rumor : News of a Buckwheat Beer has trickled down from the Sky Quarter, to the lower Quarters of Rharne City. As such, Dandelion will find a decent amount of beer tourists showing up at Rosebay wondering where the watering hole is.

Rumor : Dandelion is praised for his part in the fire fighting late last cycle. However, a strange rumor emerges that he can move through the earth with the ease of water. Occasionally an annoying request to test the rumor may emerge from those he encounters. Reputation Excellent

Reputation Excellent

color=#0000ff]Winston Miller[/color]

Ymiden 1st
Ymiden's Rise
A parade to celebrate the season change is held on the 1st of Ymiden. It is led by members of the three core factions in Rharne and winds up the mountain from the Docks in the Dust Quarter all the way to the Sky Quarter, ending at the Lightning Cathedral. There is plenty of music, dancing, and laughter along the way, and citizens either join the parade themselves or throw flowers and rice at the marchers. Per tradition, the women wear bright beads and flower crowns, while the men wear colourful shirts and, often, beads of their own.

Ymiden 13th
Pilgrim's Preakness
A race is held, organized by both the Roamers and the Tappers of the Thunder Priesthood. The style of race is a relay, held from the bottom of Pilgrim's Ascent in the Earth Quarter, all the way up to the Sky Quarter. Anyone owning an agile and well--trained mount that is mainly ground based is encouraged to attend. Also those who can handle their liquor, as the race will involve stops at booths where various taverns provide complimentary samples of any and all brews they wish to advertise.

Those who make it from the bottom of the steps of Pilgrim's Ascent without falling off their mount, to their height will be rewarded by the favor of the Thunder Priesthood. Usually in the form of prizes.

Ymiden 79th to 83rd
Buskerfest
Buskerfest is held during four consecutive trials in Ymiden. It is an event filled with performance, spectacle, stories, and comedy. During the four days and four nights, the streets in the Earth Quarter and Glass Quarter are lined with performers, including everything from musicians and singers to fire jugglers and acrobats to amateur joke tellers and magicians. Temporary booths selling a wide variety of snacks and alcohol pop up throughout the city, and traffic is slow to non-existent as spectators stop in the middle of the street to dance, laugh, or throw nel into hats.

Ymiden 83rd
Dog Day of Summer
On the last day of Buskerfest, a sudden influx of stray dogs congregate around the squares where Rharneans celebrate the buskers and other noise-making performers putting on a show for the occasion. The sounds of their singing, their busking, their speeches and so on are suddenly interrupted by a chorus of incredibly loud barking, howling, and all manner of canine chaos. Every dog in Rharne joins in on the canine chorus, without exception. The dogs do not budge from their corners, but will lash out at anyone who tries to remove them.

The Dubois Patriarch Perishes
The long-ailing Dubois Patriarch, father of Nathaniel Dubois the current Voice on the Council, has died peacefully in his sleep. Deemed to have died of natural causes, brought about by old age, Dubois leaves his fortune and properties in the hands of the up-and-coming but somewhat embattled Nathaniel Dubois, whose political career has ever stood in the shadow of his father's sprawling business interests.

The Dubois Patriarch was known to have cornered a large part of the agricultural businesses across the Rharnean Countryside. His manorial plantation in the southern edges of the Ywyngyll Forest will go to Nathaniel, as will all his business interests.

His laden casket and boat is sent out to Lake Lovalus, set on fire and seen off by many of his admirers. His son was notably scarce at the funeral proceedings, only appearing for a moment before storming off.

Azrael:

New Rumour Hot Cycle 724:
A Real killer in the pit-fights: Someone is spreading rumours that those who take up Azrael in brawling matches end up dead in the gutter shortly after. This is actually substantiated when one of his tavern brawl opponents turns up dead a few nights later. Subsequently after this incident, nobody will agree to fight him, and the Lightning Knights have taken to keeping a closer eye on his activities.

New Accolade Hot Cycle 724:
River Cruise Maître d': Several taverns hear about the floating bar that Azrael owns, and more than a few offer him a similar proposition. If he'll agree to carry their signature brew in his boat, and host parties on a regular basis, they will give him the signature brew at a discount. If he chooses to play them against each other in negotiation, he can cut down the cost of the booze by about 25% per level of Socialization he has.

Dandelion:
New Rumour Hot cycle 724:
Sappy Ale: A rumour emerges, as Rosebay's signature drinks hit the market in Rharne. That Dandelion, the settlement owner is keeping a captive Qi'ora and draining some of their sap/blood in the fermentation process of his beer.

Elijah Lamareaux:
New Rumour Hot Cycle 724:
Elijah is rumored to be hiding an invention that can allow one to travel through time! Don't you know that's how they explained the explosion and non-explosion of Scalvoris. People could've sworn it was destroyed, but Elijah has a time machine that made it possible to thwart!

Eliza Soule:
New Rumour Hot Cycle 724:
Eliza is rumoured to impersonate Ymiden himself, using just a life-sized portrait to speak through to followers. This is how Gennadiya got the idea to build the Shrine! It was actually Eliza's idea.

Gennadiya Lyosha:
New Rumour Hot Cycle 724:
Eggcellent Taste: A rumour emerges that Gennadiya, who was renown for returning a set of the Jacadon Eggs to safety in the Induk of the Lake, has squirreled away a note detailing the location of these eggs, and the Jacadons incubating them in a decorative egg in a curio shop somewhere in Rharne. Many people take to buying, and in some cases stealing, these eggs in an effort to find the note.

New Accolade Hot Cycle 724:
When Gennadiya establishes the Ymiden Shrine, she finds a ready and willing congregation eager to attend the first services held there, and will retain a following so long as she maintains it.

Leander:
New Rumour Hot Cycle 724:
The Druggist that was Leander's former boss puts out a missing person's notice for Leander, presuming him to be abducted, or even worse.

Nir'Wei:
New Rumour Hot Cycle 724:
Nir'wei's escapade with the Jacadons doesn't go unnoticed, and a rumour rises to meet his reputation as a wrangler of all manner of beasts and monsters. It's said that he is both a Champion of Karem, and also a Sesserfiend hound, and that the dreadful howling at the Umbral Caverns last season was his own call to the fell-beasts of his kind.

New Accolade Hot Cycle 724:
Things are not necessarily improving for the security of Rharne and indeed things go from bad to worse at every turn. This has not escaped Scorn's notice, and he is willing to expedite an exodus to the greater safety of a place of Nir'wei's choosing, whether that be Scalvoris or elsewhere.

Perdita Westcott:
New Rumour Hot Cycle 724:
The Book of Palenon: Perdita is rumoured by many in the Thunder Priesthood, to be hard at work at a holy book for Ilaren. This is why she's been so quiet, even more than usual!

Tristan Venora:
New Rumour Hot Cycle 724:
Tristan has been seem among the Igelak population of Rharne, which is growing by the cycle since the Memorial for Faith Augustin. It's even rumoured that he's disguised a coterie of former Rynmerish nobles in remarkably convincing Igelak 'suits' or 'costumes'. Does his Froggy court pose a threat to the established order of Rharne?!

New Accolade Hot Cycle 724:
Tristan is offered a chance to settle the former ruins of Westwind, whose population has grown restless in the lack of direction lately. They await their leader, if Tristan wishes to pursue the settlement of that area on behalf of refugees from elsewhere.

Vahekoh:
New Rumour Hot Cycle 724:
After being seen about town, a new person riding through Rhrane's Dust Quarter, many speculate on the curious girl who is often seen to be writing in her journal after every experience. It's speculated that she's the daughter of Ralaith by some of the wilder claims, or else perhaps a spy. If she's seen to be writing near any establishment, she'll often find herself confronted by the proprietor, or even passersby.

Vivian Shiryu:
New Rumour Hot Cycle 724:
Vivian is thought to be hiding something, or someone. She will often find herself approached by people who are more or less subtly trying to fineagle their way inside their home, ostensibly so they can investigate these rumours for themselves.

New Accolade Hot Cycle 724:
Many fighters, impressed and jealous of Vivian's performance during the All-Taverns Tournament, will take to challenging her to fights. Since she was one of the finalists, she'll be able to squeeze double the tavern tokens out of these challenges, such is the challengers' desperation to prove themsleves against her.

Winston:
New Rumour Hot Cycle 724:
There's a rumour that Winston has been handing out food in the streets of Rharne. Emboldened by this rumour, the Rharnean Igelak missing their spirit food, take to looking under rocks, accosting local neighborhood pets, and also every cadouri they can find, presuming it to be Winston or else related to him, in an effort to beg a meal out of them such as they received at Faith's Memorial. What's a ferret to do in a case of so many mistaken identities?

Habitat: ~ Mainly in Westwind Town in the Mudflats, but anywhere it's muddy. Can be found across Rharne.
Forum Location Stormlands
Lifespan and Development: The lifespan and development is similar to that of a ordinary domestic hog. However it has several unique characteristics that set it apart from others. A newborn pigasuslet gains the ability to float (not fly) upon weaning off their mother, beginning by hopping really high and floating on the wind, up until they grow to full measure at an arc old, where they can float very high above the clouds.

They float quite fast, and have a lot of endurance on the wing. They're buoyed by some internal force, rather than their wings. Like hot balloons.

They can generate a quick burst of speed every other break, by flapping their bacony wings really fast.

Their flesh tastes very very good.

The wings aren't what's keeping them afloat. They are covered in white-gray feathers, and the wing limb itself is very meaty and tender. The wings are used more for directional steering, not flying.

Pigasus have a curious ability that seems to be strengthened when their diet is supplemented with the ingestion of Rharnean slimes. When it's on a steady diet of slime, it dampens magical effects and Emean corruption around it. Its anti-magic properties are strong enough to lower the effectiveness of spells and techniques by one level when aimed at it, and ambiently around a ten meter radius around it. This ability does not function as usual unless they're on a steady diet of slimes. This also applies to the effects of wells or ensorcelled items.

Needless to say, this renders the capability of ensorcellers to render such pigasuses' byproducts such as bone, hide, leather, teeth, etc... as less than ideal to imbue with well-craft. They're quite unsuitable to this purpose, and trying will result in varying degrees of failure. The same goes for blood magic with alchemy.
Diet: Omnivore, but especially fond of truffles and slimes.
Temperament: variable, but mostly docile and domesticated in captivity.
RPG Abilities:
Ability 1 ~ Floating, and light bodies. They can float like baloons. Their wings are mostly of no use, but are used to alter course on the air, as they float and change directions.
Ability 2 ~ Slime ingestion, which results in anti-magic and Emean dampening.
Weaknesses:
Weakness 1 ~ They're so tasty, that people just want to butcher them right away so they can eat them.
Weakness 2 ~ Few natural defenses other than the ability to float away.

[Starling Gallery] Fanatic DanceFor performing for an audience!5
Azrael:

New Rumour: There's a rumor that Azrael was the reason for Ilaren's absence. What the nature of this was is a subject for wild conjecture and further rumours.

New Accolade: At the Starling Gallery, an obvious Sesser Thespian is performing of a night all through Cylus and a little beyond. The lyrics of her song resemble Azrael's deeds almost too closely. The song is simply titled "Diri in a Bottle".

Elowen:

New Rumour: Elowen is rumourd to dole out miracle cures. Rumors that she brought someone back from the dead spreads, and people begin to regard her with awe and a smidge of caution.

New Accolade: As umours of her status as a healer in Mistral spreads far and wide over Rharne she gets more visitors. Many people and random seekers come to find her, looking for herbal solutions to embarrassing problems.

New Boon: In the Library of Rharne, after i's reconstructed in late Cylus, a book is found which is sent along to or found by Elowen. Inside, it contains knowledge of every herb from Scalvoris to the deadly forests east of Quacia. However the book is dense, and requires specific research everytime she wishes to learn of no more than one herb per level of research skill for each thread spent studying it.

No need to PSF or get approval for this book it's compliments of the mod.

Gennadiya Lyosha:

New Rumour: Gennadiya is rumored to be a long-lost nobility from a place called Lysoria, west of Ne'haer.

New Accolade: Gennadiya finds many people seeking her out for one reason or another. Many pretend to be sick in order to get seen by her, and specifically ask for her when they are brought into the clinic or the Hospital. If they are refused this meeting, they become excessively uncooperative until she arrives.

New Boon: Gennadiya continues to enjoy the success of her establishment of a great Shrine and Temple to Ymiden. As such, a wealthy benefactor approaches her to suggest that they wish to fund a new expansion of the Temple's activities, as a sort of underground highway for escaped slaves and other unfortunates around the world, to house them and build a community. If she agrees, she will be granted startup funds worth 125 wp to establish this community.

Tristan Venora:

New Rumour: Tristan is the recipient of yet another rumour, claiming that he is a Mortalborn with the domain of Cats. That is why he seems so good with felines!

New Accolade: An election is coming up in late Ashan, which will run into a campaign that extends into the Hot Cycle. The position of Voice is up for grabs, as the current Voice wishes to step down to see to family matters. Tristan is seen as a prime candidate, and as such is approached by many 'well-wishers' who want to hitch their wagon to his political star.

Winston Miller:

New Rumour: Winston is said to be able to turn into different sorts of animals at will. Everything from a seal, to a rat, to a bear.

New Accolade: One day this Cycle, the Watering Hole is very busy beyond compare. Winston has to rush and hustle to keep up with the customer demands, as his staff is pushed to their limit by the sudden popularity of their bar. The night culminates in a grand brawl that devolves into a drunken hugging contest in the fighting pit.

Rebirth 725 Calendar for Rharne!
Image Name Date Description
Image Rharne Fighting Circuit All Season As a city of brawlers, the fighting spirit of everyday fighters is an identifying mark of its culture. Taverns give out tokens and sponsorships to fighters in order to raise their own profile, as an establishment that caters to only the best, and most renown fighters.Open
.
Image Drink Up! All Season Alcohol and brewing are undoubtedly another prominent feature of Rharnean life, along with the constant noise and loud partying that often accompanies the sharing of libations. As such, the people of Rharne are always on the lookout for the next great home brewed beer, ale, wine, spirit or liquor that the next brewmaster may concoct, as the basis for starting a tavern or just sharing among their social circle. Those who engage in the production of and sharing of new brews will surely earn the eternal praise of the Rharnean people. (Mod-Input)Open

Image Pigasuses Are Here to Stay! All Season The Pigasuses have survived the dangerous hot cycle, where they were relentlessly hunted by opportunistic adventurers looking for either good meat or wells. The conservation effort won out over the hunger for their meat and byproducts, however, and now the Pigasuses are here to stay. They are most common around the Mudflats east of Westwind Town. But they can be found all over, although in slightly sparse flocks.Open

Image Festival of Lights 725 1st Cylus
Though the trials are dark, Rharnians know that hope will always exist so long as there is light - and alcohol. This hope is symbolized on the first trial of Cylus when many Rharnians gather at the gates of Rharne to celebrate the "Festival of Lights". Each Rharnian brings an unlit candle or lantern and, at the 19th break, Thunder Priestesses/Priests make their way through the crowd to light the candles and brighten the darkness. A parade is then led by the Priesthood, starting at the Earth Quarter and ending in the Sky Quarter just outside of the Lightning Cathedral. It is often a noisy procession, filled with laughter and music and song. Throughout the rest of the season, the Lightning Cathedral keeps candles lit in the prayer space. It is the Cleric branch’s job to ensure the candles do not go out until the 1st of Ashan. Many businesses also keep candles or lanterns lit in their windows during this time.Open
.
Image Moonlit Thaw 2nd Cylus
A strange phenomenon occurs in Rharne, where a sliver of the sun pokes out from behind it's Cylus ecclipse. This causes a sudden rise in temperatures, which radiates across the surface of the moon and toward the world below. Temperatures begin rising, to an almost balmy, springlike warmth. However the change only lasts long enough for much of the snow and ice to thaw. Afterward, the temperatures return to their depths of cold, freezing the earth and causing icy surfaces where puddles had formed. People take to skating on the surfaces of frozen earth, turning what might be a nuisance to some into a pass time for the Cylus season. This becomes especiallyy popular in parks located in the Earth Quarter.Open
.
Image Cat Burglars 8th Cylus
The Earth and Glass Quarters experience a strange crime event on this night. Several houses in these Quarters are burglarized. However, the burglar never left behind any evidence of their passage, other than the stolen items, and a few knocked over drinking vessels. When authorities or the burglarized check around their house for signs of the burglar's passage, they will only find a trail of pawprints leading off from windows and doorways, with little besides. Several meters on from the trail of pawprints, they terminate, as if the creature had disappeared in mid stride.Open
.
Image Winter Storms Herald Ilaren's Return 12th Cylus
A violent and devastating storm rages across the length of the Zynyx River, finally reaching a head at Rharne itself where it nevertheless manages to do a good deal of snow, sleet, hail, and lightning damage along the way to structures. Many claim to have seen a great spirit leading the Storm's onset, slinging lightning bolts and icy lances indiscriminately at geological features and structures alike. Once it reaches the mountain of Rharne Proper, it rages upwards of the mountain, until it reaches the Summit, the Sky Quarter. There, Ilaren finally returns from her absence, hungover and grumpy, where she tells the Storm in no uncertain terms to 'sod off'. The Storm seems to disappear afterward, Clemengoth properly admonished by the Immortal Sovereign of Rharne. Those in the Temple think to celebrate, but Ilaren tells them to snuff the candles and 'shut up their singing'. She's scarce the rest of the season, well into Ashan. The devastation left in the Storm's Wake will need repairing, and many of the less secure structures in the Dust Quarter and elsewhere are in dire need of repair.Open
.
Image Ilaren's Hangover 13th Cylus
From this day onward, until the 24th of Ashan, a remarkable thing occurs to the people of Rharne. The drinking culture finds that in spite of several individuals' overindulgence in alcohol, they are unable to have hangovers. In fact, they realize no negative side effects of alcohol at all, save a certain loss of inhibition. Due to this, the taverns and bars around the city rejoice as they do better business than they have in many a Cylus. Open
.
Image Red Moon's Night over The Bumpy Road 21st Cylus
Rahkrii glows potent red this night on Cylus. Some fear evil portends, and cite the influence of the Immortal of Curses, Tio. Many are given to speculation at what this might mean. Some folks swear they saw a tall, shadowy figure leading people off into the Bumpy Road, late at night. Those who followed and witnessed this departure, are said to have heard the sounds of revelry and screaming from the direction the people departed toward. They were too frightened to find out what was going on, and so returned to Rharne to report their outlandish stories. (Limited Event to 2-4 PCs, first come first serve.)Moderated
.
Image Thespians Repair the Library 29th Cylus
In an act of tolerance and faith, the Thespians that were put upon for so long by the Rharnians, lend their aid to the repair and reconstruction of the Library in Rharne. This goes a long way to repairing the rift between the Thespians who were often perceived as shiftless, if not entirely complicit in Syroa's attacks of terrorism in the past. Now that Syroa is dead, perhaps they can finally put the Immortal's legacy of terror and fury behind them. In the midst of the rebuilding, many find at the end of the period that among the replaced tomes are many compilations of plays, from the well-known and popular to the unheard of and novel.Open

Image Flower Petal Rain All Season A strange phenomenon occurs in the weather this season. A storm blows through at the end of Cylus, but as it does the winds turn from chilling cold to balmy and warm, prompting a rapid thaw. In the wake of the thaw, plants bloom almost immediately, causing them to kick up flower petals. In time, these flower petals travel all over the region, showering the entire place with abundant 'flower rain' of multi-colored petals. Despite the beauty of it all, some worry that it portends poorly for the harvest for crops to bloom so early.Open

Image The Brawling Tree Bears Seed 11th Ashan
The Brawling Tree continues to function as intended, allowing the inhabitants of Rharne to bust each other up in a variety of ways without fear of permanent injury as it heals them near instantly upon contact with its constantly shedding petals. However, into the 11th of Ashan, a strangeness begins to overcome the tree. Instead of healing petals, seeds begin falling from the tree. Horticulturalists are astonished, but try as they might they find they cannot take more than one seed for each individual. The others blow away from their grasp when they try to take them. Oddly, romantically involved groups who try to take one seed for each of them find their luck eludes them, and those individuals in committed relationships of however many people are unable to grasp more than one between them. What kind of tree might be produced from such a seed? Only one way to find out! (Mod-Input)Open

Image Amber Thresher In the Sewer 13th Ashan
A bit of strange behavior from an Amber Thresher, perhaps owing to the strange petal rain flowing all through the countryside and city of Rharne, one or more of these Threshers are found in the actual city, chasing petals of flowers. The sightings are not all that common, but are heard of often enough by reliable sources to lend credulity. Oddly enough, one or more of the sighted Amber Threshers are eventually found to have wandered into the Sewers of Rharne. There, it's speculated that poachers have taken to luring the creatures in order to harvest their valuable byproducts for the black market.Open

Image Rupturing Ban 24th Ashan
Ilaren's faculties seem to return to her, and she emerges from the Cathedral for the first time since returning in Cylus. Once outside, she proclaims to the city that the use of Rupturing is hereby banned within the walls of the city. Mages who are rupturers or those bearing artifacts enchanted with rupturing magic are forbidden from using them within the walls. As the Dust Quarter and Earth Quarter Harbor shoreline lie outside the walls, these sections are unaffected by the ban. Open

Image Problin... Solvers? 36th Ashan
The problins of Rharne are taken with a sudden helpful nature on this day of Ashan. Inexplicably, and quite randomly, they'll do helpful things like chasing off rabbits from gardens, pick up litter, and generally be helpful little buggers. What has gotten into them? Perhaps the nature of their cruel spirit has changed? Some speculate that Ashan may have had a hand in changing their hearts, before the very next day the Problins get up to their usual mischievous and malicious hyjinx. Oh well!Open

Image Mister Haircut 49th Ashan
At the Hair of the Dog, a popular spot for people to seek out barber services, Tom Barber himself is reputed to make an entrance on this day, giving people a rare chance to get either a tattoo or haircut from him. Or a tooth pulled if they're unlucky enough to need it. This is the first time he's been seen since the Fire of Rharne. One prying client happens to ask him about the Fire, to which he is said to have paled, and suddenly left the Hair of the Dog, not to be seen again afterward. Those that did spot him said his hands were rough, as if they'd suffered burns that'd poorly healed over.Open

Image Meteor Showers over Rharne 54th Ashan
Falling stars over Rharne spark panic as some suspect that another incident similar to the disaster which hit during the arrival of the Hyludin Envoys. However these meteor showers are not targetted, and despite a few falling in the countryside, they cause minimal damage as the Ashan rains are well underway. If one were to investigate the meteors, they'll note that they're made of a strange and unknown metal.Open

Image Dog Pageant 65th Ashan
Having overcome the poorly mood that affllicted her earlier in the cycle, Ilaren cheers up finally and sponsors a competition for the dogs of Rharne to strut their stuff. Anyone with a pooch who wants to enter the Dog Pageant should bring them to the Sky Quarter on the 65th of Ashan, to be judged for various qualities associated with dogs. It's an informal pageant, but one that will come with rewards for those who show off their pooches during the season. (Submit all threads to a tracker I'll be setting up, that feature appearances by your dog during this Cycle. Threads need only be submitted for review to be counted).Open

Image Seedlings Mature Rapidly 81st Ashan
The seedlings collected by many from the Brawling Tree have matured by this date, quite unusually fast for any plant, let alone tree. Many are disappointed, as these seeds seem to have produced an ordinary willow tree. However, the Catkins are unusual at least, in that they resemble small, furry puppies. However, there are reports of strange and miraculous trees that are grown from some of the seeds by many who collected them across Rharne. (Mod-Input)Open

Stalls and tables are set for a public banquet, and a feast is held day and night for all five trials to commemorate the Immortal Ilaren and the founding history of Rharne. The Festival includes speakers from various factions and businesses, busker performances, storytelling, and plenty of alcohol.
