Seated on the shores of Lake Lovalus, Rharne serves as the home of the Lighting Knights, the Thunder Priestesses, and the Merchant's guild. This beautiful trade city is filled with a happy and contented people who rarely need an excuse to party.
As soon as Tristan, Koral and Roffle returned home, Ayla came running out of the house, much to the amusement of Tristan’s grandmother Ebony who stood in the doorway, watching her. She waved to him excitedly and smiled all over her face. A moment later, when she saw the cart Roffle was pulling, she stopped dead in her tracks and just stared at what was in it though.
“Daddy, what’s that?” she asked. Without waiting for his answer, she knelt down in front of the cart and stroke the little pigasuslet that was lying in it, a big bandage around one of its wings. “Is it hurt? Where did you find it? Are its parents dead?” she continued. Her smile made way to concern as she stroked the pigasuslet some more, very gently.
It squealed slightly.
“That’s a pigasuslet”, Tristan replied and walked over to his daughter. “A baby pigasus. It was injured by a hunter. I decided to take it home with me in order to treat it as it won’t be able to survive in the wilds. I’ll put it into the garden shed for the time being. You can help me make a home for it there. Don’t touch the pigasuslet too much though. It doesn’t know you and might be afraid of you”,he told Ayla who immediately stood and made a couple of steps away from the little winged pig.
Ebony who was still watching, shook her head slightly, as she wondered how long the pig would be staying and if it would become a permanent addition to the Venora household. Her friends had told her that Pigasus meat was a delicacy, but she doubted Tristan would raise it to be slaughtered. What would the neighbours say about a pet pig with wings?
It seemed as if her diplomatic skills would be needed once again.

Roffle cast a longing glance at the pigasuslet before they sighed and walked past Ebony and into the house. They had really been looking forward to experimenting with pigasus meat as it was said to be delicious. They accepted that no pigasi would be slaughtered, at least not right now, though. Tristan wanted to give Westwind the mudflats – and their pigasus farms – back. They consoled themselves with the fact that there might be a lot of succulent pigasi the following arc. Maybe, they’d cook something with insects instead, Desnind style.
The thought of roasted and chocolate-covered bugs instinctively made them lick their lips with their long tongue.
Koral, Tristan’s little Tunawa friend, on the other hand was happy that Tristan wanted to save the pigasi. She really didn’t like eating animals, especially animals that looked so fascinating!
And Tristan? Tristan carefully picked the injured pigasuslet up and carried it into the garden shed, followed by Ayla who tried really hard to curb her excitement – in vain. The young Mortalborn was nearly bouncing. The pigasuslet was just too cute. She also pitied it though and really hoped that her father would be able to help it – and let her keep it.
She wanted a pet pigasuslet!
When Tristan reached the garden shed, she quickly ran up to the door and opened it for him so that he could carry the pigasuslet inside. Once he had done so, she closed it again so that the pigasuslet couldn’t try to run away. “What now, daddy?” she asked. “What does it need? Is it in pain? Is it hungry? I can ask Roffle to make some food for it”, she offered.
Tristan smiled at his daughter before he gently shook his head – food was not a priority right now - and set the pigasuslet down on the floor. “First of all, I need to check its leg. It’s hurt as well. Can you get my big healer’s kit from my office, please? The one I have in my domain bag doesn’t contain everything I need. Thank you, Ayla”, he added when his daughter nodded enthusiastically and practically ran out of the shed and over to the house.
“Thank you”, Tristan said when his daughter returned with the healer’s kit a couple of bits later. It looked huge in her arms. “If you’d like to watch, you can sit over there”, he offered and pointed at a stool before he opened the healer’s kit and removed the things he needed.
The young Mortalborn nodded eagerly. This time, she managed to sit there quietly, he observed.
He smiled at her before he quickly turned to examine the pigasuslet’s right leg. When he had first seen the pigasuslet, he had been worried that its leg was broken, but as he took a closer look and carefully touched the leg, he realized that it was just badly sprained.
He took the little animal in his arms and tried to persuade it to stand, to see if its leg was capable of bearing weight at all. The pigasuslet simply squealed pitifully though, its legs spread laterally.
He gently laid it down on a blanket and put a salve on its injured leg. It would make the pain go away and hopefully also reduce the swelling. After he had given the matter some thought, he also put a bandage around the leg so that the pigasuslet wouldn’t be able to lick the salve off. The salve wasn’t toxic, but if the pigasuslet ate it, it wouldn’t work.
It needed to be applied externally and not ingested!
“What now, daddy?” Ayla asked when Tristan put his things away again. “Is the piglet okay now?”
“It takes some time for its leg to heal. Eventually, it will be okay though”, Tristan replied in a gentle tone of voice. “For now, we need to make sure that it doesn’t move too much so that the leg can heal quickly and that it’s warm in here. Piglets need warmth. Can you help me remove all the stuff from the shed, please?” he asked her. “We’ll build a nest for it here, with that wooden flowerbed edging I bought the other trial and lots of hay and blankets.”
Ayla nodded enthusiastically, jumped up and grabbed a rake that was longer than she was tall.
“Will the piglet live with us now?” she asked as she carried it outside.
“For the time being”, Tristan replied. “If it turns out that it can’t be released into the wild anymore, I’ll think about it. I’m not sure if our garden is a proper long-term home for it though. Pigs can get pretty big, and besides, it might be lonely here. Would you be happy if you could never talk to another human being again, Ayla?” he asked.
Ayla shook her head.

“Daddy, can I stay with the piglet tonight, please?” Ayla asked once they had emptied the shed of all the gardening supplies and made a warm and cozy little nest for the pigasuslet. “I won’t touch it. I won’t even talk to it! I’ll just sit over there, I promise!” she said and pointed at a random corner. “Daddy, please?” she practically begged.
Tristan placed a bowl with water inside the nest and put a small bowl that was filled with the finely cut truffles that Roffle had initially wanted to put into their dinner next to it because pigs liked truffles. A moment later, he turned to face his daughter and replied, “I’d like you to sleep in your own bed, Ayla. Your tutor will come tomorrow morning, and you need to be well rested for that.”
He’d hired a tutor, a refugee from Rynmere, in addition to the education that was commonly offered to the children of wealthy parents in Rharne. He wanted her to learn about the history and culture of Rynmere. In his opinion, it was important to never forget your roots.
“But”, he continued when Ayla pouted and looked as if she would protest. “You may spend the evening here and watch the piglet as long as you are quiet. It needs some rest. It doesn’t have a name yet, by the way. Would you like to name it?” he asked.
“Milly!” Ayla quickly replied. “Its name is Milly, and it’s my new best friend!”
Milly had been her favourite doll when she had been younger.
“Milly it is”, Tristan decided once he had cast a quick glance at the piglet that seemed to have fallen asleep and made sure that it was indeed female. “I’ll tell the others how she’s doing and ask Roffle to make a bit of chocolate milk for you. Would you like that?”
“Yes, please, daddy”, Ayla who had sat down on the stool again replied before she furrowed her brow and asked, her concern obvious, “What will we do with Milly once she has gotten better? She might try to fly away! I don’t want anybody to shoot her again!”
“I’ll have some sort of outdoor aviary built. She'll be able to stay there as long she lives with us”, Tristan replied which seemed to make his daughter happy. Once she had turned back to watching the pigasuslet, he quietly left the shed, smiling at Ayla and Milly before he closed the door. He would return about a quarter of a break later, with a glass of delicious chocolate milk and a plate that was filled with cookies.

OK, to start with your Medicine Knowledge request... I nearly rejected it, wondering "What does ingesting Slaves have to do with medicine?" Then, fortunately, I woke up and re-read it and decided that SALVES made much more sense. :-p
I don't only love your PC, but your NPCs also. You do such a great job of bringing them all to life with equal weight offering them all a rich and engaging personality.
Granny's dismay at the prospect the flying bacon might be a permanent feature of the household made me chuckle. So anyway, it's got a name now, so it cannot become bacon :-p Good luck getting rid of that now, Ayla's never gonna let it happen :-p
Thanks for using the knowledge tagging system, this really helps out during review.
Please enjoy your rewards.

Consequences
After a few trials of rest and treatment, the pigasuslet has returned to good health. It might still need a little longer to return to full strength, but if you should so wish, you should feel free to claim one Pigasus into four CS and even PSF Milly as some form of permanent NPC/Mount/Pet should you wish (PSF is not required to simply have a Pigasus, this is only required if you would like to feature the Pigasus in any significant and unique way in your narratives).
One thing you do find/notice is that without the slime-risch mud of the flats, it does continue to suffer some digestive problems. These can be discovered to be solved by being fed slimes, of course.
