Linnet was born the middle child of seven, half a break older than her twin brother Raven, to a farming family in the Stormlands, and helped out on the farm more and more as she grew up. Dark haired and dark eyed, with the stocky build that comes from routinely working with heavy objects and animals, she stands a sturdy 5' 6" tall. She keeps her hair braided back out of her way, and dresses more for practicality than for pleasure.

While she would have liked a farm of her own, she was aware that having so many older siblings meant that she was unlikely ever to inherit her parents' farm, so she looked around at other options. She loved to make things, so she learned a more portable trade, that of working with the wool from the farm's sheep - spinning, weaving, dyeing, selling hanks of yarn at the Dust Market and so on. When she heard during one of her Dust Market stints that Rosebay was offering places to anyone looking to strike out on their own, she jumped at the chance and spread the word to her friends in the same situation.
