Liquid Goldsap

Short Description: A near-liquid sticky golden fungus that can be refined into a sweet sauce.Found: All over Scalvoris.
Toxicity/Hazard Causes toothache when consumed in high quantities.
Appearance: Collecting in the branches and along the trunks of trees, this parasitic fungus grows in clumps that look like amber liquid blobs from a distance, semi-translucent and shiny on the surface. When touched, the fungus also has a slight ripple to it, as though made of a thick liquid, though this is not actually the case.
Properties: Very sticky to the touch, requiring thorough washing before and after handling, unless using tools. This also makes it difficult to harvest in high quantities unless properly equipped with tools suitable for 'scooping' it off the trees it has attached to, such as a trowel or small shovel. Eaten raw, it has a slightly sweet quality, but it can prove difficult to chew and swallow due to its consistency.
Rarity: Rare.
How To Use: If filtered through cloth, boiled at a high heat for at least three breaks - stirring constantly to avoid the edges burning - and left to cool overnight for about twelve breaks, then the resulting Goldsap will have a consistency very similar to honey, but much sweeter and more filling. It can then be used to replace honey in any other dish to improve the meal significantly, and makes for a very sweet treat.

Status: Available to be foraged across Scalvoris, found attached to trees and feeding off the bark.
