Hi Dan,

So, there's a few issues here. I'm going to list them and then, hopefully, we can work through them.
  • 1. As per this feedback and the feedback it links to. Dan is "along for the ride" here. In terms of what he actually does, in this thread, to get the rewards requested re: Secondary Resource - well, it's this. four sentences"Dan dug a warm spoon into the honey, scooping out as large a spoonful as he could. He used a warm spoon because that way the honey would slide off it more easily, rather than leaving a thick layer clinging to the spoon itself." And "Dan took the yeast and stirred it and the honey into the golden liquid until both of them were fully dissolved. Then he and Cal worked together, one on each side of the vat, to carefully pour the liquid into a keg to ferment over the trials that it needed to."
  • There is no story here. The NPC is there for the four sentences of Dan doing something - but this is merely a description of a few hours of Dan's time. The biggest adversity he had to deal with the honey still sticking to the spoon despite it being warm.
I'm not awarding you 20WP for that considering that a) you've been pulled up on this before and b) it's clear.

As I said - and Winston has said - the suggestion that you can get rewards without story "is not really in the spirit of the settlement system or it's rewards. I would have liked to see more involvement, WP investment, threading or management from Dan"

I want to be very clear with you. If you want to write this sort of very slow-paced / not really doing anything (no, adding yeast doesn't count) and very "grindy" type of thread, that's entirely up to you and you are more than welcome to. My issue is with you then trying to claim rewards for it.

There is a bottom line here. If you want the rewards, you tell the story and do the work that way. If you don't want to do that - amass money and buy stuff. But - and forgive me for being blunt - this is not a "farmville-type" game where you can click and click and get rewards. This is about story.

I have no issue with discussing this with you however, if you wish to discuss it please put that in the PSF. I ask this for two reasons:

1. Previously, when we've had PM conversations you've complained that talking to me makes you stressed. I don't want to do that. If you want to appeal the decision, I'll ask someone else to look at it - because it stresses me, too.

2. There are then records, on the boards, of what is said. That's probably best for both.

Settlement Name: Hopetoun
Thread: [Hopetoun] People Speak Of Hope
Summary: With the amazing help of Vega and her metal supplies, the settlement gains various metal supplies: armour, spearheads, arrowheads, shields, and - crucially - a boom. They also strengthened the palisades, and built a fancy new community hall.
Need Being Met: Safety (weapons, armour, etc) and Belongingness (town hall). It doesn't address a specific need, but I feel like it would impact those two aspects of the settlement to some degree.

Brief description of thread: The Sweetsong settlers create a Orchard/Walkway that grows Sweetwine Vine Tomato trees (An apple tree spliced with tomato and sweetwine vine to make a fruit that tastes like the person eating its' favorite meal if prepared by a master.) They also set some veternum plant traps that are spliced with birdflowers (to make noise when someone is caught in the trap) and common cave mushrooms (to grow in low/no light).
Survival Skill Used (What Level if so): Hunting
Survival Skill Knowledge Claimed? (How many): I don't think anyone claimed hunting knowledge, but the veternum traps surely qualify as hunting use.
Focus Skill Used (What level if so): Field Craft
Focus Skill Knowledge Claimed? (How many): Nobody claimed Field Craft knowledge but it was surely used.
Settlement Resources Used:
  • The Sweetstone Tree, to accelerate the growth of the Orchard.
  • Many of the seeds that players themselves possessed. Veternum Plants, Sweetwine vines, tomatoes, Apple trees, cave mushrooms, bird flowers, etc.
Intended Changes:See this guide.
  • Creation of an Orchard Walk, a location in Sweetsong that contains an orchard of Sweetwine Vine Tomato trees. (Spliced apple, sweetwine vine, and tomatoes into a tree that gives fruit that combines the properties of sweetwine vine tomatoes.)
  • Creation of Veternum pit traps (Spliced with bird flowers to make noise and light up when predators fall into the pit traps, and veternum to actually trap the creatures, and cave mushrooms so the veternum don't need light.).
  • +1% Order for proving trustworthiness per participant (+4% Order)
  • A new cultural quirk perhaps??

Orchard Walk location can be added. Veternum Pit Traps can also be added as a new feature of the settlement.
At this time, I don't believe a cultural quirk is in order - however the creation of a new orchard warrants new Primary Resources of Apples and Sweetwine Vine Tomatoes, which can be added.
