30th of Saun 724

The beauty of Llais Y Dreigiau was something that all of the Hyludin took pride in. Well almost all of them did. Despite its best efforts shadows always lurk at the edge of the light or sometime right in the middle of it. So it was that now. As night descended upon the base figures moved quietly through the gardens. Not all of them were up to anything suspicious but two were. Dressed in plain clothing with what passed for plain head wear among the horned race two figures walked. It was hard to tell in the dark if they were male or female.

They walked next to each other deep in conversation, the cause observer wouldn’t even noticed them as they walked or pay attention to the words that were passing through them, though they stopped when ever anyone drew close. Some might thinking friends out for a walk, or possible a couple. To the good observer they would realize that the two people weren’t friends. There was something between them but it wasn’t comradery.

Eventually they did separate, but they missed that one of them allowed a folded slip of paper to fall from a pouch. It lay there one the ground all through the dark time of the trial and wasn’t bothered until one Mowlyn Wythrio, the Gwesteiwy y Doc (Dock Host) came by one his way to his station early in the morning. Muttering to himself he picked up the paper with plans to throw away, but he paused and read the note.

Later that trial there was a request for those who wished to serve Llais Y Dreigiau to come to the Sedd Wladfa (Colony Seat) to come and help with a project for the Gwarcheidwad (Guardian).

Interfering with the development of a pre-flight society.

Kalortah didn't know why that thought had popped into his head, but it came to mind nonetheless. Perhaps it was the clash of the cultures that was precipitated by these peoples' introduction to the world. Or it was his interest in emulating their society, and bringing it to his own people one day. The details weren't all-important. What was important, was that Kalortah found a place that he felt worthy of his residence. And that had impressed him beyond belief. He'd not expected to see utopia manifest in his life.

Kalortah didn't think the Hyludin should bother themselves over the petty squabbles of the wingless degenerates on the surface. While Kalortah had some people he admired there, by far most of them were vile and terrible people. And with little appreciation for music.

He was stood before the dresser, picking out his garments for the day, when his mirror flashed. Apparently Lotema had said the key words to operate the two-way mirror. He picked it up as he got into his shirt, and quirked a brow.

"You've been gone for a while now..." Lotema stated the obvious.

"Yes and I have good reason. I think this is just the place where we might find a home, finally."

"So should we make our move?"

"Not yet." Kalortah sighed, "I need to earn a better reputation, before they'll allow me permanent, non-guest housing I presume..."

"Alright. Theo wanted to say hi." Lotema said, bringing the vision of Kalortah's child to the mirror's gaze.

Kalortah always felt a strange rush of some emotion when he beheld the child. It felt like pride, mixed with relief. Strange always, but he couldn't quite place it, other than it was very strong. He supposed it was fatherly love?

"Hello Theo." Kalortah said, smiling down at the babe, who babbled and clutched one of its own feathers. "We'll be reunited soon."

"I love you." Lotema said to Kalortah.

"Yes, I know. Now I must make ready." Kalortah dropped a cloth on the mirror's stand, and went about getting dresse dfor the day's events.

At the end of his dressing, he wore tight-fitting doublet, with padded vest and sleeves in red and gold brocade. The stitching wove a tapestry of an avian tableau from the collar of the doublet down to the sleeves. On his hands, a pair of crimson velvet gloves. On his legs he wore trousers of black velvet, casually fitted to his thin form, and tucked into a pair of black leather knee boots. Around Alsing's neck, as often was the case, a pendant of platinum with two mismatched gems, similar to his heterochromatic eyes of blue and light pink. The buttons on his doublet were of gold. Around his shoulders he wore a black cloak lined with crimson velvet. On his head, a wide-brimmed hat with a bright plumage in green.

Thus prepared, he flared his red wings (he'd assumed his true colors since arriving to the Hyludin city) and made his way out of the temporary housing he'd found in there. From there, he made for what they'd called the Colony Seat, to present himself for the benefit of the Hyludin.
