1st of Cylus 721

The cities and villages of Melrath are as varied and diverse as they come. The capital of Raelia is the the jewel of this western kingdom, playing host to a merchants, artisans, Aesir priests, as well as a cut throat political landscape dominated by the nobles of Raelia. To the south in the depths of the Myrkvior Forest lies Melrath's second largest, and oldest city, Fensalir. Here people have learned to live alongside spirits and the natural world by maintaining their loyalty to traditions laid down the first Melrathi. To the east lies the small fishing village of Noatun, and to the western mountains rests the Mer city of Verimeer, the brewing town of Alivilda and the alpine village Vormund.

The Sleeping Heart Stirs
1st of Cylus 721

Jasper’s his expression was worried, stress and a bit tires as he listen to what Tristan and the Tuwane had to share about their part of the encounter. He could see various parts of this image coming together. He shuddered a bit at some of things as they lined up with what he himself had seen in his vision. He nodded towards Tristan with his own thanks as he answered the questions.

Jasper watched the Elder’s faces as they listened and he began to believe that not everything they said was a surprise, though he didn’t feel that it was all known to them. They were sharing something that he suspected was helping to piece together something that they were already aware of. The motioned for him to sit and he looked at Tristan and the Tuwana and smiled to make sure they would join him.

Once settled the farm boy Aesir listened as a serious of unfortunate event began to unfold. Jasper a couple times had to close his mouth as he heard about the flaying Sorceress who had almost killed and altered a embryo Induk. He glanced at the flames where Eldloga burned happily wondering if someday he might become an Induk. He then turned his attention back to the conversation as they then explained about the wounding of one of Vynmur’s daughter.

His eyes showed shock and horror and there was an occasional twist of his mouth as he listened, but over all he kept his expression calm. For Jasper he felt a sense of shock and the world seemed dismally grey at the thought of that creature joining with one of their own Induks and working to consume them all. So much was going on. He felt a bit overwhelmed at such things. He took a deep breath and luckily Tristan had some comments.

Tristan knew of this Eihr. Other’s might judge him, but Jasper was aware of many people who made questionable decision, he could think of at least two of his brothers. So he took this as the possible miracle it was. He glanced at the Duke as he spoke about trying to contact this Eihr. He was silent for a moment longer and then titled his head as he commented about Mortalborn. He blinked and said. “I always thought that was a rumor, but the Immortals really have mortal children.” He asked in his surprise.

“I also want to help how every I can to stop this.” He looked at Tristan and said. “If you want my help it is there.” Then looked at the Elders and said. “I am a servant of Melrath and the spirits, and will do what I can to help with this.”

Lanneisse,

The Broken Promise

The Elder responded to Tristan's assurance that perhaps he could contact Eihr, and potentially bring him to Melrath. "That would be good, if you could manage it. His help may be required if we're to bring a swift end to this situation."

"As for Immortalborn mischief, yes, the children of and the Immortals themselves have often been a thorn in the side of Melrath. Not all Immortals are as troublesome as others, however. But we do not hold to them here. We trust in the spirits, when they aren't in peril. But for now, the spirits require our aid." The Elder sighed.

When Tristan mentioned Arkenstone, the Elder scratched his chin. He looked to the others, and then back to Tristan, shrugging, "I believe the Circle received a plea for aid from a foreign power, which had as a monarch the members of the Arkenstone family. Quacia I think it was? The Circle decided at that point that it wouldn't be opening its borders to refugees and thus sent the emissary back to where he'd come from. Quacia is an ancient city, much like Ne'haer, which our own Melrath was once a off-shoot of. It's possible that there may be shared blood between Quacia and Ne'haer, and Melrath, but I cannot say for sure."

"There are actions and plans afoot, that will ensure that this doesn't come to pass. It will require several actors in order to ensure success. And of course, Eihr's involvement would be a great boon, but it's not entirely necessary." The Elder stated, nodding at Tristan and Jasper.

"But for now, I bid you return to your lives for now, and keep in confidence what I've told you here. I trust that by having heard this, you will feel compelled to help when the call for action comes." The elder nodded, and then made to dismiss the people there.

"We will continue to monitor the situation. For now, the danger is distant, but it cannot last. We cannot forestall the danger forever."

However, their audience appeared to be at an end, as the Elders scuffed out the flame of welcome they'd lit before the men bearing the strange tunawa had entered their midst. The two men were escorted from the Sanctuary and given assurances that they would be called upon to act when the time was right.

For now, the issue could wait, but the defenders of Melrath would be needed by the advent of the next Cold Cycle.

Notes: Well this was a long time in coming. I apologize sincerely for the terrible delays that I suffered, however we had some set-backs in the course of this event that required me to recalibrate at certain times. However, now it's finished, and I can sincerely say this will have huge impacts for Melrath going forward.

Ashling was a good presence early on in the thread, and her efforts may have helped to awaken the tunawa. She surprised me several times through the event, and was played very well and true to character. It might not have succeeded without her involvement, but it's a shame you couldn't stay on till the end.

Tristan was a constant and persistent presence throughout the thread, asking good questions and keeping things grounded throughout the process of trying to figure out the truth. His use of the diri fo Communication to pull Jasper back from the brink of disastser was well done, when that happened.

Jasper was pivotal, as a holy man in this plot. His foot got them into the door with the Elders of the Aesir, and allowed them to get to the bottom of whatever is ailing Melrath. I hope to see him soon in the future of Melrath. I think Jasper's destiny is very much wrapped up in the fate of this nation.
