Rynmere Seasonal Calendar - Saun 717
This season there will be three moderated threads that will be ran by non-city mods (Plague, Whisper, Basilisk). This is not setting a precedent for how things will be ran in the future, it simply turned out this way this season. All guest-mods have been asked to inform the Rynmere city mods of any major or minor outcomes of these threads. The threads that are run by these guest moderators are marked with their names. If you wish to be involved in these threads, please contact the listed moderator for that thread. Thank you!

1st Saun - Moderated: Basilisk - Link
The land is abuzz with excited speculation about the marriage between Xander Krome and Celeste Andaris. All nobles are invited to attend, though not all of them may wish to come, since the wedding is nowhere near as lavish as the upper class is used to. Some applaud the couple’s efforts to be more humble in their marital celebrations while others suspect political motives. After all, if it wasn’t but a cheap trick to win over the people’s hearts, why weren’t any commonfolk invited? (Commoners that wish to join must PM Basilisk to discuss options for joining).
3rd Saun - (PM Mural for details)
There is a major fire at Rynmere university. An entire wing of the respected academy is burned down and several invaluable scrolls and tomes are forever lost to the flames. A thick, black smoke hovers over Andaris City, forcing nearby citizens to shutter their windows. After the fire has been doused, an investigation is launched. Eye-witnesses are called upon to report to Meriad Brimstone, an elderly scholar of moderate renown in charge of the investigation, to give their account of what transpired.
4th Saun - Andaris City & Regions
Despite the conclusion of the investigation, rumours are making the rounds that the fire at the University was the result of uncontrolled, unregistered mages. Rumours quickly turn into allegations, and allegations turn into alternative facts. By the end of the day, a majority of the citizenry is convinced that the fire was the work of vengeful mages, expressing their dissatisfaction with Cassander’s anti-magic decree from Ymiden.
7th Saun - Eastern Settlement & All Rynmere Regions
The Merchant families in the Eastern Settlement all scramble to trade a new, hallucinogenic substance found on the southernmost border. The strange, purple-ish fungus causes vibrant hallucinations when made into a tea and is soon nicknamed “Liquid Purple” for the coloration effect it has in water or water-like substances. Those who consume the substance struggle to describe and comprehend what they see, but the merchants all make different claims about the magical properties of the fungus. Some say it allows the consumer to glimpse the mind of an Immortal, others claim it will heal any injury. One thing is certain: overdosing on this substance leads to the most bizarre accidents, such as one case where a man casually strolled off a cliff while shouting end-time prophecies in some imaginary language. Due to the ease of overdosing, the fungus is quickly banned from being imported into Rynmere. However, a few shiploads have already made it across and the fungus is in wild demand, especially among nobility, causing the price to jump from two golden nel to a dozen golden nel for a bag of five mushrooms.

The eight day of Saun marks the arrival of a peculiar figure. An old, hunched man has set up a tent in one the city squares. For the low, low price of just one golden nel this mysterious figure shall lay the cards, toss the bones, and read your palms to predict your future. It would be easy to dismiss the conjurer for a charlatan if several citizens hadn’t crowed about the accuracy of the man’s predictions. By midday, the price for a reading has risen to five whole nels. The city guard are getting anxious and seem keen to remove the mysterious conjurer from the square, but perhaps you can get a reading before they act on their instincts and throw the old fellar out? It’s only ten gold pieces now...
9th Saun - Gawyne
A serial killer stalks the lands around Fort Gawyne. From the 9th up until the 15th of Saun, no servant going outside the Fort is safe. Soon, armed guardsmen accompany all servants on their outside duties, causing the killer to instead murder servants inside the Fort. Whoever this dastardly fiend is, he or she is devilishly stealthy and carries a deep hatred for the serving staff in and around Fort Gawyne. Who will bring an end to this?
12th Saun - Mural, Andaris Palace - Sign up (0/5)
King Cassander opens the gates of Andaris Palace for a day of open counsel and calls upon all people of Rynmere, peasant or noble, to express their concerns to him, whatever they may be, without fear of persecution. Many heed the call and before noon, the queue snakes all the way into midtown. All who enter the palace are thoroughly searched and disarmed by tall, silent Ouroboro guards before being granted access into the throneroom. Not all are pleased by the King’s action. Some commoners think of it as nothing more than a cheap trick to win the hearts of the have-nots, whilst certain nobles find it insulting that the plebs are given a chance to speak to the most powerful man in the Kingdom. One thing is certain: this is an unprecedented chance for anyone, high or low, to have their voices be heard.
14th Saun - Endor
One of the veins of the Endor mine collapses, trapping many miners inside. A rescue operation is mounted but for many, help arrives too late. Among the dead are many children of Qe’dreki rebels who were sent there for the sins of their rebels fathers and mothers. The sheer amount of young workers found dead raises an important question: is it fair to punish a child for the mistakes of its parents?
15th Saun - Andaris City
A young student’s body is found hanging outside the charred remains of the burned down wing of Rynmere university. It appears the student was severely beaten before being hung. When the body is brought down it is found that a single word has been carved into the young man’s flesh, it reads: “mage.”
16th Saun - Andaris City
An organized group of bandits raids several outlying villages in Warrick. Tales of their plunder and cruelty spread far and wide. Crops are stolen, houses burned down, and all inhabitants, young or old, are put to the sword. Nothing but ashes remains on arrival and, frustratingly, the bandits escape justice three times before being tracked to the border between Venora and Warrick. A joint military operation is organized by the two houses to end the vicious banditry once and for all.
13th Saun - Warrick & Venora
A monk takes up a stand in the middle of the largest city square in Andaris and appeals to the good citizens of Rynmere to never fall for the evil taint that is magic. It is, so he says, an act of treason to do so and wholly against a more conservative reading of the Rynlist scripture.

19th Saun - Andaris City
The heat of Saun becomes close to unbearable. Even the lightest clothing feels too warm to ear. Those who can afford to remain inside do so, sheltering themselves against the sweltering heat in the relative comfort of their homes. A nation-wide drought is soon officially declared and citizens are asked to be on the lookout for potential wildfires.
20th Saun - Andaris City
The skies grow darker and takes a long time to brighten in the morning. A big, red scar appears in the sky at nighttime. For the citizens of Rynmere this is the sign that the peak of Summer has arrived and many faithful Rynlists take this time to honor their ancestors and bring offerings to the temples spread across the land. This is a time to be with family and to contemplate the founding of Rynmere. Read more…
21st Saun - Endor
The same mysterious old fellow who predicted the fate and future of concerned citizens for just a few golden nels earlier in Saun has re-appeared. This time setting up his ragged old tent just outside Fort Endor. Rumour of his capabilities have spread far and wide by now and many people flock to his humble tent to have their futures read for the low, low price of eleven golden nels.
23rd of Saun - Krome, Burhan, Gawyne, Venora
The heat is so great that some plains and forests catch on fire in Krome, Burhan, Gawyne, and Venora. Most fires are small and quickly doused, but some swell to immense proportions, forcing the local populace to evacuate and start counterfires to steal fuel from the ravenous flames. A significant number of houses and farms are lost in these fires, leaving several hundreds of people homeless. Some say it is no accident that the Rynmere University was consumed by fire, and now the lands too. Are defiant mages at work here? Making their presence felt and known? How will the affected Duchies respond to the needs of their people?
25th of Saun - Eastern Settlement: Oakleigh
In summer, a great migration of various birds species passes over Oakleigh. While a known phenomenon in the region, the sheer size and early departure of these birds leaves some scholars puzzled. To the untrained eye, the thick flocks may seem like wild, swirling clouds. While a pretty sight to behold, the birds also feed from the land, swooping down in a wildly chirping storm on defenseless farmers before filling their bellies with worms, berries, grapes, and seeds. Their ravenous hunger soon introduces another problem: Shit. Lots and lots of birdshit.
26th of Saun - All of Rynmere
The end to the heat proves to be as much of a curse as the start of it. A roaring thunderstorm passes along the Northwest coast before sweeping inward and across the mainland. Lightning strikes numerous times and fat rain hails from the skies. Some property is damaged in the storm, but once the wind lies down, the air finally returns to a more comfortable temperature.
29th of Saun - Krome
A panicked mother bangs on the gates of Fort Krome. When halted she begs the guards for help, her son and only child was out playing and strayed too far, she last saw him being dragged by a large, Krome Wolf measuring a staggering 20 hands tall. The guards seem reluctant to help her…

A Biqaj poet by the name of Slarribus Barbarus was so moved by the events of Rynmere’s civil war that he has dedicated a whole book of poems to the tragedy. A regular copy of “Oh Rynmere, my dragon, my lion, my rose, my compass, my wolf, my scales, my bear, my tragedy!” goes for as little as 2 golden nels, while signed copies, why, those are 5 golden nels of course! A surprisingly large crowd attends the presentation of this new book in the great hall of Rynmere University. Unfortunately for those in attendance, the doors are locked before Slarribus begins reading his poems in his dreary, dreamy voice. Within mere trills it becomes evident that Slarribus, aside from being among the worst public speakers to ever grace Rynmere, is also among the worst poets to ever grace Rynmere and, surprisingly, also happens to wear the most garish, brightly coloured clothes that are about as painful to watch as his poems are to hear. As the evening drags endlessly on, the warmth of the room begins to encourage perspiration in the assembly and soon the deadly scent of several dozen sweating men and women fills the air with unimaginable fumes. The event is a sensational assault on the senses and considered a great modern piece of experiential art, for Slarribus has arguably managed to recreate the stench and dread of war quite well.

King Cassander marries Empress Emerson Sands in Andaris Temple. The Iron Hand and Orobouros Guard are out in full force to protect the King, Empress, and guests. At least one noble of each house is expected to attend and bring a gift for the freshly married couple. Additionally, a hundred commoners have been randomly selected and received a personal invitation from Emerson Sands, inviting them to attend, these guests are not expected to bring gifts and these invitations cannot be traded or resold.
39th of Saun - Whisper, Andaris Courts - Link
A shocking case is brought before the courts. Alistair Venora accuses his Father and Mother for alleged abuse in the past. The rumours mills start whirring again. The more learned men and women of the general populace are cynical about the timing of this case. Why is this brought to light now? What is Alistair trying to gain from this? The King, for one, welcomes the distraction as it draws attention away from his controversial marriage.
40th of Saun - Plague, Andaris Arena
Thomas Theodore Terrance is arrested for being an unregistered practitioner of magic and is scheduled to be burnt at the stake in the arena alongside a handful of other captured sorcerers. This news is received with horror among scholars and rumours are abuzz that some kind of rescue operation is being mounted.
Rumours
To those who listen, the city buzzes with rumours. Among it is a great deal of stubborn nonsense, but those who know where to look might learn something valuable if they ask the right person. Bartenders, craftsmen, drunkards, and common citizens can all be approached freely, but their rumours tend to be less accurate and of less importance than those of city guards or other city officials. Unfortunately, the latter group knows that there is a little extra to be made on the side and require a payment of 5gn bribing money to start talking. Even then, some among them might tell you nonsense. Or worse, have you thrown in the dungeons for trying to bribe a city official! Yet, there are some who simply take the money, smile, and whisper The Kingdom's greatest secrets in your ear.
How rumours work: In order to get a rumour, PM Mural or Incubus. Please title your PM "Rumour Request" and state whether you're trying to get a common rumour (cost: free) or an official's rumour (cost: 5gn). Generally speaking, common rumours have less to do with Noble politics and more with local, urban affairs. City official's rumours are more likely to be of a political nature. You can only get 3x rumours maximum, per character, per season.

State of Affairs
Written with extensive help from Incubus
The "State of Affairs" is a continuation and expansion of what was the Nobility Tracker. The purpose of "State of Affairs" is to give players a general indication of, you guessed it, the state of affairs in Rynmere. We've summed up all of Rynmere as consisting of 13 active factions in total, namely:
- House Warrick
- House Venora
- House Endor
- House Gawyne
- House Krome
- House Andaris
- House Burhan
- Commoners
- The Crown
- The Church of Rynlism
- The Coven
- The Iron Hand
- Wealth is defined as the totality of a faction’s monetary wealth, trade capabilities, their food supplies and their reserves.
- Military Might is defined as the totality of a faction’s pool of soldiers, their equipment, their fortifications, means of transportation, and variety of troop types.
- Relations are a general indicator on how one faction views another. It’s possible for Faction A to perceive B as an ally while B perceives A neutrally.
