Party TIME!
OOC Notes
Peg Gave me access to finding from this thread off the back of the below experiments.
Peg also authorised Winston having some drain glass to play with here.

"And you are sure this is a good idea?" Ask
Joe
as he wafted around the room, unable to remain still as the result of the rising restlessness across acalvaris. He was like a cat on a hot tin roof. Life had become quite uncomfortable recently, quite uncomfortable indeed."Yus, et's de only plan. People needs tuh stap running, fightin' an' preparin' far a battle dem cannat passibly win!" Replied the ferret from within the room of requirement, from within Chest, from a remote part of Sweetsong's shores. He was quite certain that if anything killed them, it would be bloody minded stoburness... And perhaps a few hundred tons of unidentifiable explosives.
"I don't think they will like it." Cautioned the Diri as he watched the ferret preparing some final precautions. "In FACT. I'm certain they won't."
"'wo won't?"
"You know... 'them'. Like people in charge."
The ferret smiled. "Ol'Tuck knows. Who else is there?" He challenged with a sly little smirk. "Anyone else es jost rentin' a space antap af de backs af de Induks anywho... Even Saiore." The last bit was added with much more reverence as he made the observation.
"Well... I suppose. Vega might bosh you though. I mean, she'll definitely bosh you." He said, upping the anti in an effort to dissuade the ferret from setting in motion something that might be totally unstoppable.
He chuckled. "An' dat will nat be de first time. Change es comin' Joe an' nottin' we doh about dees 'ere glass tubes af death will change dat." It was a damning statement, perhaps even true, but still the two of them remained to test the theory.
The Diri floated aside for a moment as Winston conducted his first series of tests. "First we find out wat et DOES, den wat es ES... DEN 'ow tuh PLAAAAY wid et."
Joe sighed, resigning himself to his fate.
The industriouse alchemist had been given some of the so called 'drainglass' by his contacts in Isonomia and [get-post=203134 excerpt=NPC Group: Faith's Wisps]his Wispie friends[/get-post] and asked to give it a study. He was doing this in the safest place he knew... Inside the Room of requirement Faith had left the organisation... Requiring only safety... and taking no chances.
He and
Shinwa
had been sifting through the reports that Woe had been sending on the stuff and based on what he could see, the Wildglass vials and the Drainglass appeared to be the same thing. Or at least it appeared to Winston that they were and if that were true... Anything they can find out about this Drainglass, they could potentially use to tackle the vials of explosives under Scalvaris."Ideeeeaaaalllyy..." He mused as he watched for a reaction. "We wud be able tuh make sometin' da cud stabilize de glass vials. Make dem safa tuh traspart... I mean REALLY we want soetin' tuh neutralise de stoff enside, bot dat's var too volatile to play wid."
He took the smallest possible shard of glass and gradually began exploring its properties. Much to Shinwa's delight, he had started to organise his finding as he went. Gradually channeling ether into it, he watched as it seemed to absorb it. It was not totally dissimilar to the
Blood-ingot he had invented himself
... but how much could they take?As he continued with great care, it was not long before the tiny shard exploded violently scorching his forging gloves. "Hmmmm.... Dat's de fuse den... Well dat's a pain."
"Why? You know how it work now right?" Queried Joe, enthused at the possibility that this might mean they could leave the glass' presence.
"Nat quite, noh. Bot ef et es de fuse... Den... Well me neva cansidad wat wud 'appen ef me put too moch magic intuh an Bood-ingat befar..." As the ferret eyed the door to the room of requirement, beyond which lie siad ingots, Joe shuffled nervously. He recognised the look of curiosity on the feret's face and decided to head it off at the pass.
"Right, yes, but how do we STOP it exploding?" He asked, hopefully. "MAKING things explode is not something you need to try hard at most days."
The ferret shrugged as he turned back to the table and placed another piece of glass on it for study. He could hardly argue a strong case against the accusation and so simply decided that it meant he had plenty of experience to make use of on the topic. "Well, like me shield me made... me give et sometin' tuh DO wid de energy, tuh like... 'Use et' mar safely... An, far dat matta, why nat 'ave de glass transformed a lital... Ef me cun jost switch de glass fram absorbin' ether tuh absorbin' explosives. Like de Blood-ingats, Joe!
Dem cun jost DRINK de explosives and burn dem af with a party glow
!" He was hopping around the room now, clearing a space on the floow and drawing glyphs and circles, forming new and wonderfully exciting alchemy. There was no doubt in his mind that manipulating something described in the report as 'pure chaos' was not going to be simple... It may not even be possible. But dammit, it would be fun!
He recorded every finding, every adverse affect and every alchemical test and breakthrough. Most of the trial passed him by as
Shinwa
concluded the final preparations for the party and he maniacally formulated a prototype drainglass glow lamp.Taking the time to run several little tests on the other small fragments he had available. He gradually tested the limits of the material. Apparently it was already very complex and he doubted that most alchemists on the street would be up to doing it without blowing it up... Tristan instantly came to mind. It would have been so very helpful to have had him around right about now, but inviting him into this kind of situation didn't really warrant consideration.
Kisaik might be at the party tomorrow though and he would surely be able to help with this. Once he'd worked out everything he could, he would ask kisaik to work out the bits he had missed. Yes. This would do nicely!
He held up the shard glass, doing his best not to make direct contact with it as it might drain his Mark's ether. It was an achievement at the very fringes of his ability as he manipulated the drainglass' absorption capabilities,
turning them from that of ethar to simple water and then using that to let off a rainbow coloured glow.
The effect was as concentrated as he could make it, as longevity was not actually his goal. In fact, short of exploding, the more frequently it needed 'recharging' the more stable it would likely make the glass as its absorbed energies and substances fueled its light, preventing it from ever collecting too much power. The next challenged was going to be how to actually deploy this... Without moving every vial into a lab one by one for the alchemy process to be undertaken, they would need some kind of air-board delivery system. That was a problem for another trial however, as next was investigating the chaos liquid Vega had sent him.
It was with great delight that he placed the final piece of unshaped glass into a cup of water to see it glow.
"Oh-key, Joe. Time tuh go find Shinwa, share dese reparts an' den canfirm everytin' es ready tuh go far tuhmarrah!" He proclaimed with a bright (if somewhat weary from fatigue) smile.
