Scorn rose even higher and revealed that they had been standing on the back his whole time. At one point, Vivian mused silently to herself, she would have been very giddy at the idea of actually riding Scorn, the greatest of the jacadons. Right now, however, she had to focus on her duty and thus was able to keep a straight face. However, both Nir'wei and Scorn might notice that Scorn's sheer size still didn't seem to bother her, nor the fact that they were not longer standing on anything that even resembled ground. She watched as Nir'wei was declared a Jacadon kin, though that seemed to mean precisely bugger all in the grand scheme of things, then bowed her head slightly when Scorn turned to her.
"Apologies. My name is Vivian Shiryu." she said in response to the comment about her name. There was, however, a brief shift in her expression when Scorn insulted the Induks of Rharne, calling them grasping and meddlesome. If either of them were particularly adept at reading human facial expressions, they'd catch that she thought Scorn was being remarkably rude with that comment. Scorn and his kin were, after all, new arrivals and it was poorly done to speak so poorly of the locals that had already lived there. It reminded her of the way the Rynmere nobility had spoken, and it was that thought that made her speak up again after Nir'wei's comment on the disagreement. "If I may, I was once of Rynmere, and while I have long since rejected my ties to that fallen Kingdom, it was only after I left that I realized its greatest folly. Rynmere wasn't just willfully ignorant of the supernatural elements of Idalos, it actively tried to kill them within its borders. This created a gap in understanding how supernatural beings function." she said, her tone calm.
"Spirits are not like us, either mortal or jacadon. We can move around, change the kind of person we are purely by own will, or any number of other things. This is not true of Spirits. The Induk Lovalus isn't some spirit simply named for the lake, she is the lake itself. Spirits will ever act entirely to their natures and that nature can't change as freely as ours. Lovalus did not offer your kin sanctuary out of malice, or to steal them from you, she offered them sanctuary because she's a lake. To be a place where mating pairs, of any species, come to find water, food, shelter, and a safe place to nest is part of what a lake is, and so part of what she is. That she's an intelligent and powerful lake, and one that chooses to care about the safety of those even beyond her shores, doesn't change that she will act in the ways you would expect a lake to behave, were it sentient." she said, knowing full well that lecturing Scorn might irritate him. But damned if she was going to stand there and let him insult Lovalus for, functionally, being a lake spirit.
When Scorn explained what he wanted from Rharne, Vivian nodded. "I'll not give promises that I can't enforce, but the people of Rharne are content to leave you and your kin in peace. And if our people decide to be stupid enough to try and poach jacadon children, then it is not down to us to save them from their own galloping idiocy. We'll not raise our blades against you over it." she said, shrugging slightly at the end. The role of a Lightning Knight was protect the people of Rharne, yes, but not when they decided to do something so objectively foolish. "As to Immortals and Spirits, Ilaren is the only Immortal native to Rharne, and if she hasn't bothered you yet, then she likely won't, unless the situation between Rharne and jacadons should change for the worse. As for Spirits, as I said, they are what they are. Lovalus and Zynyx won't bother you away from the lake and the river, respectively, but Clemengoth is a storm, and as such will be where storms are. If the Mire, or any other place, should happen to have an Induk, then it has an Induk and there's naught that we or any other being on Idalos can do about it. That Induk will be that place." she said, her tone a bit apologetic about that. She was aware that suddenly having to deal with the supernatural that the rest of Idalos accepted as normal was a difficult transition for natives of Rynmere.
She did give a slight blink when Scorn spoke of the return of the Skyriders. She would have thought that the jacadons wouldn't have been fond of them. She was pleasantly surprised to learn that was not the case. She didn't comment on it, though, and instead quietly watched the exchange between Nir'wei and Scorn, though she did give a slight approving smile when he declined to separate the eggs from their parents.
