Rharne Calendar: Cold Cycle 723

Vhalar 723 Seasonal Calendar
Weather in Rharne

Vhalar Weather
Vhalar weather is somewhat warm and balmy, and the harvest is particularly fertile, leading to double the yield for farmers and growers. Wheat harvest leads to an excess, and there are trade opportunities for those wishing to contact the trade offices of the Rharne Council. The demand from the Eternal Empire is particularly high.

In addition, the squash crop, particularly pumpkins, lead to greater yields and larger specimens than usual. Pumpkins become a seasonal favorite this Arc, for food and beverages of various kinds.

However, toward Zi'da the chill interrupts the balmy weather of Vhalar, cutting into it with a desperate chill just days before the seasons turn.

Event Calendar

All Cycle Long: Festive Season: The season sees all kinds of new cultural celebrations, inviting people to celebrate the good fortune of the new season with whatever celebrations they can think of.

A great mood pervades the city, as Rharne seems to have turned a corner into brighter days. But for how long, one might wonder. The Shadow Quarter has been relatively quiet, and though that in itself is nothing unusual, it's thought that they are suffering from some internal strife, that precludes them from victimization of the populace and the fleecing of the vulnerable.

2nd of Vhalar Great Harvest March: The Great Harvest Parade: The festival kicks off with a lively procession through the forested trails. Locals and visitors alike don traditional attire adorned with vibrant autumn hues and carry baskets overflowing with freshly harvested fruits, vegetables, and most importantly perhaps, grains.

They come from as far as Volta and Caervalle town, marching the Zynyx adjacent roads, or on river boats, toward Rharne where they bring their bounty to the festival that is to be held there.

17th of Vhalar Crafthole Midway between Mistral Village and Rharne, a large tent-village is set up where craftsmen of every kind and stripe set up shop to make impromptu crafts for those who visit. This is a good opportunity to work your crafting muscle, or else to shop for a great gift for Zi'da celebrations. This year, pottery for storing beer, alcohol, and cooper casks are particularly popular.

22nd of Vhalar Resurgence of Religion The Thunder Priesthood has gained a few followers and supplicants offering to join their ranks of late. As such, the new helpers have freed up some of the senior members to restructure the Thunder Priesthood into a cultural institution, from when it had been more of an arm of the Rharne Government.

The newer members of the clergy are put to task at their chosen vocation, while the higher ranked members settle into their new hierarchies and organizational structures. There are more opportunities and respect for the Thunder Priesthood, especially in the wake of the Slime attack in late Zi'da, during the fire in the Dust Quarter.

34th of Vhalar Copper and Silver Rituals The Home Brews that went to spoil in past seasons have been visited by the Thunder Priests, and many new recruits are enlisted to help bless in a ritualistic dipping of copper and silver nels into the stills of these Home Breweries. Anyone interested in receiving the benefaction and also the cleansing of potential slime from their brews are offered the services of a Thunder Priest who will visit their home still to perform the rites.

47th- 52nd of Vhalar Beerfest The Annual Beer Festival spans 7 trials between the 45th - 52nd of Vhalar, during which all citizens (with the exception of those who work in the service industry) are excused from work. During the day, the streets in the Earth Quarter and the Glass Quarter are lined with booths of brewers sampling and selling locally brewed beers as well as merchants from all over Idalos peddling their wares. In the evenings, taverns across Rharne are filled with revelers. High Priestesses/Priests from the Thunder Priesthood faction often travel the city and encourage celebrations by sharing their Bottomless Wineskin ability from their Palenon blessings.

Event: Faith Augustin Remembered
Date: 72nd of Vhalar, 723.
Location: Rharne.
Description: A state memorial and procession is observed for Faith Augustin. Foreign dignitaries and people who knew her are invited to speak on behalf of their organizations and nations in tribute to Faith and the impact she had on their part of the world, or personally. Many foreign visitors are seen to arrive.

This memorial is held on the Shores of Lovalus, the Induk of which she was a Grand Warden to. Several articles, including letters and offerings by admirers are loaded onto a skiff, which is set ablaze and sent out into Lovalus.

Remarkably, sometime during this Memorial a large group of Igelak emerge from the waters of Lovalus, and begin mourning with the rest of the attendees. When asked, the Igelak proclaim that they're there to pay respects to the one who (among a few others) helped to free them from slavery to Pearl Hopper. Mod Run Event

Zi'da 723 Seasonal Calendar
Weather in Rharne
Weather for Zi'da
Zi'da is colder than usual from the start, despite the fertile harvest. The chill comes quickly, leaving the ground blanketed with snow early on and throughout the season as inclement weather leaves the streets and roads covered in snow most of the time.

Toward Cylus, it begins getting to record low temperatures, cold snaps are common toward the tail end of the season.

Event Calendar

All Cycle Long: Peace and Good Will In the wake of Vhalar, a great wave of peace and good will breaks out during the festive season. Vhalar saw that most every belly in Rharne is full and fed and sheltered, thanks to the efforts of the relief forces dispatched to fix the damage done after the fire, and Isonomia's general helpfulness during that crisis.

The Season is marked largely by a distinct lack of violence in the streets, and even the more contentious circuit brawls are more sportsmanlike than usual.

12th-14th of Zida Singing at the Brawling Tree On this date, visitors are invited to participate in what is hoped to be an annual tradition. At the Brawling Tree, grown by Faith Augustin herself at the Lightning Dome, offerings are accepted to the branches, offerings of ornaments, crafts, and particularly popular are little paper snowflakes that have lightning features.

On the last night of the celebration and festival, the celebrants break into song and begin belting out tunes much to the delight of onlookers. Some people have friendly brawls, but none of the fights get out of hand.

23rd of Zi'da The Lighting of the Peaceling's Candlebra At Daia's School, formerly Madame Austere's academy of Song and Dance, a celebration is hosted by Ti'atha, Daia's Daughter, who commemorates the debut of Daia in the Mummer's Ball, as well as celebrating her and several other heroes and Immortals defense of Rharne against Syroa's unwarranted attack against them.

At the apex of the ceremony, the candlebra is lit, in honor of peace and good will and prosperity.

35th- 40th of Zi'da The Return Many of those who exited the city begin turning up on the streets. Even some who were thought to be captured during the chaos of the Saun firestorm, and the Slime attack appear back in the city, unharmed, with similar stories as to where they were.

If pressed on where they were during their absence, they will say they were visiting a distant uncle. Strangely, every former 'captive' is giving this same line, with little deviation from it.

50th-61st of Zi'da onwards The 12 Trials of Zi’da: The 12 Trials of Zi’da is an annual celebration of family and friends that lasts from the 50th – 61st of Zi’da. The holiday allows Rharnians to show appreciation and gratitude for the people in their lives who have loved and supported them throughout the past arc. Each trial has a specific theme, and those who celebrate the holiday give their loved ones a small gift connected to the theme. Some choose to wrap the gifts, tag them with an identifier to show what date the gift should be opened, and give them to their intended recipients all at once. Other Rharnians choose to give and receive their gifts on a daily basis. During the 12 trials, the Rharne marketplace in the Earth Quarter turns into the “Zi’da Market,” and is filled with food, mulled wine and cider, and vendors peddling wares aligned to the themes.
1. Dust: This gift is often something inexpensive and small. Usually a small bauble of some kind.
2. Past: This gift symbolizes something from the recipient’s past. Often something sentimental or nostalgic.
3. Grey: The gift is something grey. Often cloth or stone.
4. Earth: This gift is usually something taken from the earth. Either something made of stone, clay, or for the more wealthy, marble or porcelain.
5. Present: A gift pertaining to the present, and the relationship between the giver and the recipient.
6. Green: A green gift. Often something simple like flowers or clothing. Some more extravagant gift givers may give jewelry.
7. Glass: The gift of glass is often something made from glass, but it can also be something that is extremely fragile. Vases, jars, and stained glass are all typical gifts.
8. Future: This gift is suppose to symbolize the recipient’s future in the coming arc. Gifts range from work supplies to nels to fare for a boat trip.
9. Purple: This gift is an item that is purple. Often clothing or jewelry, glass or gem, the color of the purple is often the vibrant purple of the city’s flag.
10. Sky: This gift is used to represent the sky. Oftentimes feathers from birds are made into charms, baubles, and jewelry. The wealthier citizens frequently import feathers from other regions, or rare birds - though a creative Rharnian knows that the sky’s the limit.
11. Eternity: This gift is often given by more intimate couple and friends to show the strength of the relationship. It is often something that transcends the need for definition. Those who are more financially driven may decide to drop the deeper meaning and just buy diamonds.
12. Blue: This gift is blue, though like the sky it can range in color from the softest of periwinkles to a vibrant cerulean to the darkest of navies.

78th of Zi'Da Skyfire Festival The Alchemist guild holds a demonstration of fireworks at all quarters of the city of Rharne. The theme of the fireworks and the appearance of such take on the resemblance of lightning, creasing against the sky. There are massive fireworks demonstrations crisscrossing the skies in the Sky Quarter and Glass Quarter. The Earth Quarter has many detailed fireworks that take the shape of brawlers, wrestling against each other.

Even the Dust Quarter engages in the tossing of sparklers and firecrackers, which harmlessly explode against the snow, leaving multi-colored sparks and confetti in their wake.

Remarkably, no fires are accidentally started on the demonstration, as the alchemists seem to have treated their fireworks not to be incendiary.
