Unmoderated Areas: Impact Tracker & State of Play

Unmoderated Areas: Impact Tracker

Have you just completed a thread which might have an impact in some way? Or are you planning on one which could make a difference? Great! We love to hear about those kinds of threads. If you have a thread which fits the bill, please post below. Then, a Mod will determine the impact and will post it here.

Tracking impact threads is important because quite often, local lore will need to be adjusted in wake of such, and if we don't know about it, we can't do that.

If it is a single thread, post here. If it's a plot or group of threads, please post an overview of the whole plot and all threads involved. Thank you!

Do not post here if your thread is located in a city that is open and has moderation staff (Scalvoris/Rharne). Those cities have their own independent impact trackers.

This is for threads completed and reviewed after 1 Cylus, Arc 722.

Thread Dates:

All threads can go here, regardless of their date. The moderation team will deal with them!

When Do I Post Here?
You post in the impact threads if:

1. The thread / story will have an impact on a certain area, potentially. There's a question in the code below that says "how will this impact the area" - if your answer is "it won't" then don't post here. If there is any impact - put it in and if needs be I'll just say "there's none" on it. Whether it receives renown or not!

2. If you didn't think it did have any impact but, upon review, it gets 10 or more renown.

Please remember! We would rather you post here and get modnoted "no impact" on it than you didn't put up something we would have wanted to see. Think of it as a means of letting us know what's happening this season, allowing us to plot

Base question to consider - have you made an impact? If it's on one person or ten, then we'd rather hear about it. We'd hate to miss something that your PC should be known for.

If in doubt - please ask. We would ALWAYS rather that you submitted a thread and we said "No Impact" than you didn't submit one you could have! Thanks!

Re: Unmoderated Areas: Impact Tracker

Unmoderated Areas: Current State of Play

Originally, we put this list in the Cycle Change announce. But we have decided that we'll use this in a more fluid way and with less time pressure on players. Therefore, the "State of Play" in unmodded cities is currently laid out below. It's up to you, the players - to change that, exploit that, make it better / worse etc.

  • Desnind: : Desnind has rumours of a disease which is impacting the trees and woods - a slow rot which will have major repercussions if true, but will require exploration.
  • Ne'haer: The Council of Ne'haer have mostly recovered from the famine of prior cycles. With the help of local fisherman, they've rebuilt their industry to that effect, and branched out into whaling. Rumor has it, they're seeking an alliance with Ivorian to secure the Sev'ryn Main of Orm'dell Sea for their prospective alliance. Meanwhile, the All-Temple is rumoured to be undergoing some kind of political shake-up. There are openings for priests of many of the Immortals and some kind of in-fighting seems to be causing major issues.
  • Nashaki: In the Hotlands, Anox's Folly has become the site of a major fracture in the wake of Ruin's Dawn. There, it's said that the faithful of the fallen Immortals can hear the voice of their patron. None who have ventured into the Fracture have yet returned.
  • Etzos : Following Sintra's defeat, Etzos is largely a ghost town. Rebuilding will be necessary and infighting is rife. Rival gangs and conspiracy theorists abound and the day-to-day life of the people of Etzos grows more and more dire. In the aftermath of Sintra's expulsion from Etzos, and the distance of Lord Vuda from Etzos proper, there has arisen a power vacuum in The Big Rock. Cultists of both Lisirra and Sintra still stalk the wilderness of their various areas, clashing with each other as well as locals. It's a time of strife and also recovery, as the people of Etzos build back from the devastation of the Rhakros war and the Webspinner plots. There are rumors of an organization operating from the depths of the Underground. The Cult of the Underground Bastion Ecumenical (C U B E) who are plotting to turn Etzos over to one Immortal or another.
  • Athart : The Unfeathered suffering from Aloplumia have been suffering from attacks, rumored to have been perpetrated by the Cult of Valtharn. Their inability to fly has made them easy pickings for the Cult, who have ripped their bald wing limbs and made effigies around the human quarters of that city. Human and Avriel relations are at a fever pitch, as the Aeolian ponders retribution.
  • Sirothelle: The political turmoil starts to fall into factional lines. The three dominant groups are all controlled by the Aukari Occult. The first is an extremist, reactionary group that is pushing to attack other cities before other groups can attack them. The second is a more moderate faction controlled by Falkia Brennan that wants to shore up Sirothelle and focus on defending themselves. The third is a heavily religious group that refuses to believe Faldrun is dead and advocates carrying on like normal. Due to Sirothelle's oppressive society. The unmarked preacher, Sam Rasvima offers a reformist view of the religion of Faldrun, presenting himself as a progressive preacher. His following so far is far smaller than the other factions and has thus avoided drawing hostility from them so far.

The preacher, Rasvima begins to get talked of in the streets, as someone who is willing to buck the established order and dogmatic views of the current religious authorities. As such, several splinter groups of Aukari make it known to him that they wish to migrate to Melrath. It's yet to be seen how Sirothelle will react to this stealing of its people. But it should be noted that one of he few laws Sirothelle has is that one should not steal. Even so, his congregation will find it nearly doubles in the ensuing days and has begun to rattle the authorities.
  • Uthaldria: While Drathaidir focuses on clearing a route to her museum, Edasha becomes more active in the city itself. While she is currently making no major moves, she is recruiting people to work in the museum, albeit with high and exacting standards. There is a general sense that the Immortal of Beauty find Uthaldria to be lacking.
  • Quacia: Quacia's political turmoil has broke into several major political groups. Some are more progressive and seek social reform or emancipation of slaves. Others are more oppressive and push for the elimination of all outside influence in Quacia. Both the royalists, led by the King, and the cult are currently staying aloof from these groups, as they struggle more directly, and martially, for control of the city.
  • Rynmere: Rynmere is mostly quiet as Artere sets about re-organizing what's left of Rynmere for maximum efficiency. Anyone who finds a way to spy on it will note that former nobles, peasants, soldiers, and slaves are all working alongside each other. However, no one speaks to each other, no one seems to have any personal life or even any personal concerns.. After all, there is no need for anything of the sort in the Hive Mind. Please note Rynmere is not open for play, unless via moderated threads with a Prophet. Rumours of this may be heard by those with connections to Ryn.
  • Augiery: Between Audrae's death and Kuvarakh's raids, Augiery has mostly turned inward until it can stabilize. This has proven difficult due to the factionalization of the Vice Queens that rule the city, however. Currently, there are two major factions among the Vices. The first is made up of an odd and unsteady alliance of Odessa, Lomela, and Sanja. These three, despite their various negative tendencies, do genuinely care about the city and it's people and look to protect their city by any means necessary. The second is made up of a more logical, but no less unsteady, alliance of Runaash, Casia, and Tanvi. These three consider asserting Augierye's dominance and superiority to be paramount to any other concern. The last Vice Queen, Aurelia, is currently neutral and is waiting to see how things play out between the two factions.

Re: Unmoderated Areas: Impact Tracker & State of Play

Thread Name & Link: Ashes, Ashes, We All Fall Down
Date(s) Thread(s) Take Place: 35th of Saun, 721
City/Area: Sirothelle
PC(s) Involved: Sam Rasvima
Overview / Details: Sam (and the rest of Sirothelle) processes the death of their Immortal Creator Faldrun. He and many others go to the Ashen Alley to self-immolate. Sam stops himself, and others, from self-immolating. He rallies some members of the crowd to help him extinguish the burning Aukari.
How will this impact the area?: Might give some of the locals and dregs a bit of hope for the future outside of what the Occult are offering. Might make Sam a more known local figure, for good or for ill.
Anything else you want to tell us?: Nada

Re: Unmoderated Areas: Impact Tracker & State of Play

Thread Name & Link: Sinners Make a Saint
Date(s) Thread(s) Take Place: 3rd of Ymiden. 722
City/Area: Sirothelle
PC(s) Involved: Sam Rasvima
Overview / Details: Sam gives a sermon on the state of Sirothelle to his congregants, stating that he believes that all three of the major factions are wrong and that Sirothelle only survives if it builds itself a stronger, more global community.
How will this impact the area?: Gives a fourth option to any Sirothellen who doesn't take to the first three. Provides a progressive/reformist view on the religion of fear created by Faldrun. Paints Sam as an iconoclast of the faith, potentially giving other radicals a target to rally towards or against.
Anything else you want to tell us?: Nope!

Added this bit to Sirothelle's current state:

Sam Rasvima offers a reformist view of the religion of Faldrun, presenting himself as a progressive preacher. His following so far is Far smaller than the other factions.

Re: Unmoderated Areas: Impact Tracker & State of Play

Thread Name & Link: A Flame Needs Tinder
Date(s) Thread(s) Take Place: 12th of Vhalar, 722
City/Area: Sirothelle, House of the High King
PC(s) Involved: Sam Rasvima
Overview / Details: Sam goes to the base of Faldrun's faith to ask for aid for the Slums. He gets into a public confrontation with a higher ranked priest (his father) about the House's unwillingness to give aid and refusal to accept Faldrun's death. Sam ends up publicly condemning the priest and his beliefs in the House, but does not get any aid for his people.
How will this impact the area?: This will rattle the cages of the established faithful who deny Faldrun's death, and may spark further debate and discussion about the ramifications of holding onto that (false) hope and the impact of Faldrun's death.
Anything else you want to tell us?: Unsure of how much impact this may have, but thought I'd post here since it was a public confrontation of one faction member challenging another in a holy place.

Re: Unmoderated Areas: Impact Tracker & State of Play

Thread Name & Link: Mediation or Immolation, Your Choice
Date(s) Thread(s) Take Place: 17th of Vhalar, 722
City/Area: The Slums, Sirothelle
PC(s) Involved: Sam Rasvima
Overview / Details: Sam settles a legal and a personal feud between two notable Aukari families in the Slums. The feud began with a broken engagement between the children of the family, and ended when Sam proposed that the brothers of the no-longer-groom-to-be apprentice themselves under the no-longer-bride-to-be's family trade.
How will this impact the area?: This might show to Sam's small faction that he is a capable leader that can settle disputes and find creative solutions. This impact will likely remain contained to the Slums, but strengthen his follower's faith in him and potentially gain a few more reformists under his banner.
Anything else you want to tell us?: Nope!

Noted. The following has been added to Sirothelle's state of play:
