Grew up an orphan in Almund she was a street rat begging for change until a local haberdasher took her in, whisking her away to Scalvoris Town. The woman was old, kind, and gentle enough teaching her the ways of hat making. Kalypso doesn't reflect much on her childhood, her surrogate mother was kind enough but worked Kalypso to the bone. Surrogate mother isn't quite the right term, as the woman never really raised Kalypso so much as taught her how to run the shop. Kalypso was much like an indentured servant to the woman than a daughter, but she was fed and housed and treated with respect. It was all she could really ask for.
Her entire life she loved books and bookmaking. Being quiet and studious she was a regular at the library. Eventually when she came of age she volunteered to work as a custodian and sometimes librarian. After the woman who raised Kalypso passed away she began working full time at the library, as a librarian. This is all she knows and enjoys her work.
Not one to step out of her comfort zone Rose (Library NPC) has talked her into visiting the local cafe, the Scholar's Nook, a few times and the habit has stuck. Kalypso likes to enjoy tea and do some people watching while reading romance novels. In the back of her mind she is waiting for something in her life to change, but doesn't want to change herself. Stuck in a rut she feels like her job is dead end but is resisting going out and making a stir on her own terms. She often goes rock hounding, aspiring to be a mage-- transmutation is a goal of hers to encounter and be initiated into.
