Amat was born into the a loving family, which was a small one but it really didn’t matter much to him as it was his family, he was destined for greatness they said. The family culture was to normally had just a few children at any given time so he grew up with no real close friends his own age as the other children were many years older or younger so he really enjoyed the rare times when they would gather with others for parties as it gave him time to socialize with others his own age but this didn’t happen nearly often enough for his wants. He often felt isolated and sheltered that gave him a thirst to find out what lay beyond the families as the stories and myths seemed to appeal to his innocent courage.
His parents taught him how to do alchemy as they were alchemists, all the while teaching him all about the safety parts of it and rarely letting him do much freestyle mixing and such and how to honor his creations properly as they lived their lives. His father taught him many things like how to use some ingredietns to make poisons and even a little bit of how to solve rat infestation problems. His Mother was often busy with the family dealings, although she did start instructing him on how to use a blade when she had time and as he grew strong enough to handle one properly. He never cared for it though and the lessons were short and uninformative. Instead he found himself sneaking off a lot when his mother was looking for him so that he could have a few moments to himself. He got good at disappearing from his family at large which was for the best really.
Amat’s mage mentor was a man who was deeply in love with his mother but she chose another man. The mentor was so spiteful that he vowed, secretly, to exact his revenge on her and her husband at all costs. He remained friendly to them though and gained their total trust. His manner of revenge was turning their child into the worst kind of mage, a Necromancer. They didn’t know this of course, and they thought him to be teaching their son a useful and resourceful magic that would give him an edge. The mentor lured them in with promises of riches and glory once the boy’s teachings were over. But the man went against his word. He initiated the boy into necromancy as a way to spite the parents and exert a manner of control over their son.
They were mistaken when Amat was put against a skeleton in secrecy and initiated into Necromancy at the age of 16. The mage used Amat as a tool to sneak into graveyards and take bodies for use because who would suspect a kid to do things like that. All the while he held the knowledge and threat of revealing what Amat was to everyone as leverage. The mage grew to trust Amat and Amat used this to convince the mage to grant him another initiation, this one being Attunement. Even into his teens Amat's mentor was able to use Amat as a spy to tell about his parent's business and the mentor arranged for the husband to be killed discreetly. With the mother distraught and without support the mentor swooped in and married her, thus making him Amat's step father.
Afterwards Amat was largely let go by his mentor, though he is still used as a means to spy with attunement and gather dead bodies for easy use. Amat is unaware of most of his mentor's atrocities and has come to simply not care about the bad things he does.
