2nd of Vhalar 719

Stronghold of education and learning, this fortress is in one of the coldest areas of Idalos and home to many knowledge seekers in a variety of disciplines. However, unknown to most, below the city are those who suffer for the sake of science. While all are welcome, not everyone will be treated as they expect.

(Merk Pass) For Family

2nd of Vhalar 719

Wald woke up in his cell, chained to the wall. His arms above his head, legs attached to the ground. He was forced to sit here, forced to sleep like this. When he was awake he was alone with his thoughts, and the sounds of the building around him. People throughout the dungeon were complaining about the cold, it seemed like the whole world wanted to freeze over at night. Wald could not feel that cold... His body grew numb to the changing temperature of the world. The only way he knew it was cold were the complaints of the other prisoners, or slaves, combatants, whatever they were.

The thoughts in Wald's mind always wondered back that morning. Back to the fight that happened just a few breaks ago. Why would the Ithecal not listen to reason? Did this place break the normal mortal's spirit? Was that the reason for making people fight, was to lower one's humanity. It was a method that could work on most people. The killing of another person gets easier the more you do it. Following orders... That was what a slave was meant to do was it not? Breaking down the person by forcing a primal nature of wanting to survive. That might of been it... Though Sybil would likely be able to figure out this place better. Wald only worked with his instincts on this matter, there was no deep thought of the human nature, just the nature of an animal.

The creaking of metal was heard at the cage door. Someone was making their way into Wald's cell.

Re: (Merk Pass) For Family

It was a child, he looked small and frail. Wald gave a small quark of the brow, as he watched the child walk into his cell. The shadow obscured any visual markings of the young one. Though there was one thing Wald noticed, he was carrying a pitcher and a bowl. Of course, it must of been how he would be getting fed. If I am a product then there would be no point starving the man. Yet it was still not worth giving product the best. Just enough to survive it would seem. As the food smelled like a boiled grain, and the child would likely force feed him.

As the timid child approached, Wald spoke out. His soft voice echoing in the cell, breaking the silence around him. "Who are you?" The question made the boy jump, and give a slight recoil. "I am not going to hurt you, how could I?" Wald said giving a low sigh, that rumbled his chest.

The boy walked closer. "I is not allowed to speak." Wald eyes blinked for a moment, the dim light from outside the cell making them glow. He was likely a very scary sight to the young boy, who got closer and began to give the man food and water.

Wald recoiled at the taste of the food, and the water had dirt inside it. He had to force it down, though once the boy backed away Wald began to cough. His body wanted to reject what was given to it, though he forced it to stay down. Wald's stomach began to growl from the food. It had been over five trials since he last had meat. His body was not use to the change of diet so suddenly.

When the boy left, Wald was left alone in his dark cell. Back with his thoughts that haunted him at night. He continued to try and find a way to get back home, he needed to return to his family somehow.

Being left alone for a break, it allowed his stomach to settle down. As a large man began to open his cell, getting ready to move the man inside. Wald was unhooked from the wall and floor, before he started to get dragged down the hall. He was not handled with care, and his muscles still wanted rest from the beating the other trial. His body was also forced to heal, which made the situation more tiring. Wald simply accepted the forced movement, as he needed to stay alive in order to get home. He could not protect his family if he is dead. He hoped the thought of them would keep his mind together through all this.

Once again, he was thrown into the caged room where the floor moved upward with chains. There must of been a large pulley system to drag the floor up. Could of been a crane wheel of sorts, but without seeing it there would be no true answer. It was the only time he was not strapped in shackles, so he took the moment to scratch the many itches he had. His body screamed when he was unable to move, it was not like in the infirmary with Sybil. There he was able to get Sybil to scratch his nose, here he had to deal with it.

The floor would begin to rise once again, as his body stretched out. Allowing himself to enjoy the freedom of movement a bit longer, before being forced to do whatever it was these people wanted. Though he did not want to entertain these creatures, he could not let himself die here. Not when so many depended on him for food and protection.

Re: (Merk Pass) For Family

The sound of people echoed into the small room Wald was trapped in, the light that came in was bright as compared to under the structure. A long mist came from the man's lips as he looked over to the other side. The figure of a man could be seen, at least this time it would be a more familiar fight. Though his eyes would slowly quark over to the seating, the board was changed in their numbers. 3 to 1.5. Odds still in the others favor. It could be assumed that the person on the other side was tough, or the group was still evaluating Wald.

Soon enough the booming voice spoke over the crowd. "Now, lets get the introductions done Ladies and Gentlemen." Wald could not tell where the voice came from, though he did not try hard to find it. "We have on one side, the man beast himself, Aethelred." A tilt of the head as he looked back to the other cage. Man beast? Would that mean Lotharro, Wald had not meet many of them before.

"On the other side, our newest addition." Wald started to look around, seeing if there was a way to hop the wall somewhere. "He had an upset in his last match, Wald." Wald did not get a fancy introduction, so that must mean they are still testing him. How long would it take for him to get sold off, that may be his best chance to get back home.

Wald's stomach began to growl, as he moved to hold his gut. A hunger was beginning to take hold, and it was unlikely to subside. The gate would begin to lower in front of him. Wald took two slow steps out of the cage, though he saw a blurry visage of a man charging him. His eyes opened wide, as it was like he was being charged by a bear. Thinking quickly he hopped off to the side, narrowly avoiding the charging man. There was no talking to this man, Wald had no choice but to fight.

The man lunged at Wald, as the hunter fell to his hand and knees. The man grabbed hold of air, as Wald lunged back into his lower abdomen. He tried to force the man down, but the man stopped Wald's attempted after planting his feet.

Wald began to get his back pummeled by the man above him. Gritting his teeth, Wald shot his head up, cracking the other's jaw. His teeth wanted to rattle, but his gritting kept them from bouncing. The man held his mouth as he backed away, blood dripped from his mouth. Wald's hand began to stretch, and his fingers curled into a structure that was not quite a fist.

Swinging to the man's face, Wald was getting ready to grip into his ear. Though his arm was caught, getting locked into place. The Lotharro's eyes looked to be raged filled, as he flipped Wald onto his stomach against the ground. Wald's free hand gripped into the sand, as the other was twisted behind his back. Wald twisted his arm to throw sand right into the man's eyes. Causing him to let go, allowing Wald to grab hold of the man's legs.

Getting a hard grip into the man's flesh, Wald began to roll on the ground with him. A chunk of the man's calf was pulled, before Wald walked away slowly breathing heavily. The man was bleeding badly, Wald's arm still numb from the grip the Lotharro had. "That is the match." The voice thundered through with the crowd, as Wald scanned the arena around him. Trying to find a place to escape from before he could be dragged back under. He could not find a way out, so before the guards forced him with whips, he simply walked back to the room. Not wanting to go through more pain then needed.

I don't know why Wald is captive, nor do I need to know. You had me fully engaged from start to finish in this thread. I look forward to reading more. Well done mate.
