Re: [Rharne] Flora

Lumigold Hops
Developed by Elowen
Appearance ~ Lumigold Hops are vibrant, bioluminescent plants that glow with a golden hue at night. The cones are larger than those of traditional hops, with each cone measuring up to 4 inches in length. The leaves are a deep emerald green, with veins that pulse with a faint, shimmering light. The vines are sturdy and can climb up to 30 feet in height, adorned with tiny, star-like flowers that bloom in early summer.

Short Description ~ This plant used to be exclusively found in the wild, usually on the edges of forests where it got enough sunlight and moonlight. As it is a vine, it would climb along the tree's trunk, often stealing its nutrients. However, due to its exclusive properties a select few breweries have invented or paid expert gardeners to create Lumigold farms where this plant could be grown in controlled manner and somewhat larger quantity. But due to the challenges of replicating growing conditions (requirement for rich soil constantly checked for nutrients that substitute that of a living tree, gentle and regular infusion of moonlight requiring sets of mirrors to maximize effect) and many failed attempts, the Lumigold's growth in the wild was gradually reduced and it is now uncommon to find. The hops cones are dense with lupulin glands, which not only give the plant its distinctive luminescence but also impart a unique, slightly sweet, and citrusy flavor to the beverages brewed from them.

Harvesting this plant happens at the height of Saun and then only at night when the cones are at their peak glow.

Forums Found ~ Rharne

Toxicity/Hazard ~ None

RPG Properties
Bioluminescence ~ The luminescent properties of Lumigold Hops make them a coveted ingredient in brewing, as the drinks made from them glow faintly in the dark. This feature is especially popular in night festivals and celebrations.
Enhanced Fermentation ~ Hops has accelerated fermentation process, allowing brewers to produce high-quality alcohol in half the time compared to traditional methods.

Rarity Uncommon

How To Use As a main ingredient in brewing beers.
Side Effects None.
Status ~ Legal.
Price ~ T7 if purchased as a raw ingredient from brewers or as a starter for one's own hops farm; otherwise

Re: [Rharne] Flora

Polijune berries
Image
Developed by Elowen
Short Description ~ Two types of Juniper berries used in making three kinds of gin.
Forums Found ~ Rharne, Stormlands
Toxicity/Hazard ~ Risk of intoxication when consumed. Risk of blindness if home distilling a blend of white and blue Juniper berries (risk much lower if distillation happens in a distillery and if it is not a combination). Risk of death if excessive amount of combination gin consumed (combination gin meaning made from white and blue berries)

Appearance Polijune is in fact a nickname for what is known by botanists as Polar Junipers. Polijune is either a white or a blue berry that is used to distil gin. White Polijune is generally smaller, grows in tighter clusters and is easier to break than the Blue Polijune. Blue Polijune is the size of a small blueberry and grows in looser clusters. Both grow on evergreen juniper trees wherever these may be found.

Use Polijune berries are used in gin making.

White Polijune results in a cloudy base alcohol which can then be further flavoured with other herbs and plants. It is said to have a much smoother overall taste and is often preferred by the higher society (for its looks and its tastes).

Blue Polijune gives the typical clear base alcohol which can the be further flavoured the same way as white Polijune. The taste profile of Blue Polijune gin is more pronounced. Some say it is harsh. Others say it is just stronger than White Polijune. But this drink is often preferred by the hard-working class.

Then there is the highly dangerous and illegal combination polijune gin made from both berries. This is illegal due to its high alcohol content (combined from the capability of both berries) but also dangers associated with distilling and drinking this. This gin is harsh, burning and immediately inebriating. It is also easy to mistake this gin for a blue Polijune gin (unless someone has expert detection) because it does not look or smell any different, until one takes a sip. Though someone with expert detection may notice a slight haze to the alcohol. It is also rumoured as being used by some alleyway doctors to clean wounds due to its potency.

RPG Properties
Property 1 ~ Cloudy gin - for softer gin made from white Polijune
Property 2 ~ Classic gin - for stronger taste profile made from blue Polijune
Property 3 ~ Immediate drunkness - when combination gin ingested (this can be countered with Expert resistance skill, or effect can be lowered with competent resistance)
Property 4 ~ Wound cleaning - when combination gin is poured over a wound

Rarity Everywhere
How To Use As an ingredient in gin making.
Side Effects Intoxication, hangover. When used on wound sterilizing - burning and pain that takes a long while to disappear even after it had done its job and the wound had been treated furhter
Status ~ Berries are legal. Combination gin not
Price ~ T4

Re: [Rharne] Flora

Rharne's Tears
Image
Developed by Elowen
Short Description ~ Rare plant that grows exclusively in the Stormwastes out of and around the cracks in the earth where there is subterranean water, or just outside the luscious borders with Stormlakes. It is a delicate creeping plant with frond like leaves and small, translucent and bulbous fruiting bodies that reflect sunrise and sundown rays.
Forums Found ~ Only in Stormwastes and on the edges of Stormlakes.
Toxicity/Hazard ~ When a certain part of the plant is consumed in high quantities, it will result in a convulsing and painful death. Also gathering it presents dangers from any subterranean creatures, venomous reptiles and serpents that nest in its extensive root system as they seek out the roots for their moisture.
Appearance ~ Rharne's Tears is a delicate creeper that has frond like, dark brown, velvety leaves. These are in fact the 'root setters'. Every leaf adherent to a surface shoots off a root system to hold the plant in place but also to seek water. Although a creeper, it does not extend far from the crevices from which it grows. The majority of the plant is actually found inside the crevice and deep within the earth. Only about 10% of the plant make it to the surface with only a few fruiting bodies.

The roots of the plant, however, are strong and aggressive, burying deep into the dried soil in search of moisture. The plant's root system creates a web which breaks down the soil and at times creates cavities in which creepie crawlies, reptiles and serpents can nest. Due to this, it is not only difficult to extract the plant from earth, it is also extremely dangerous. Given the root system of this plant and how extensive it is, if one were to follow one root offshoot, they might find it connected to another fruiting body a large distance away. One could almost say that large portion of Stormwastes was riddled (or held together) by Rharne's tears. Hence, that's why there are 'randomly' found underground nests for the creatures mentioned above.

The translucent fruit of Rharne's Tears is not particularly large. It never grows past the size of a small marble. It acts as a water reservoir for the moisture collected by the roots. This water is however a high concentrate of the fruits properties as well as the venom of the creatures that live in its root system.

When sun hits it at low altitudes, the fruiting body shimmers much like tears or little droplets of water. It is also at these times of a trial that it is spotted the easiest. At other times, its translucent nature helps it to blend with its surrounding.

Rharne's Tears had always been around, but due to their rarity and risks associated with gathering, it had been largely ignored. However, ever since Stormlakes rejuvenation, the plant began growing in slightly larger numbers near its borders and so it started gathering some attention.

RPG Properties
Property 1 ~ Medicinal - Leaves can be dried and ground. These are used to create soothing balms for localized pain and stings. Roots can be boiled to make tea to boost immune system or work as a minor detoxifying solution to clear the body of minor poisons. Tincture of the roots is made as a general antidote for a serpents bite and is especially effective against those that live in the plants root system. Against other poisonous bites it has the ability to delay the effects of poison but it will not cure it.

Property 2 ~ Higher Sight - The water concentrated in the fruiting body can be extracted to make an extremely powerful serum where few drops are enough to provide a higher state of being. Meaning an ordinary person could feel connected to the world around them. They could choose to travel to any point in their life and relive that moment as thought it was happening all over again. A mage could feel a surge in power that they might not otherwise experience (though this does not remove overstepping). Or they could choose to focus the effects of the serum in other ways. All in all, the serum acts as an amplifier of one's mind. Therefore, it can be an effective drug to temporarily boost ones capabilities, or it can be used in breaking through strong traumas. But it is addictive and if not taken in moderation and under supervision, one will eventually overdose and die a convulsive, painful death since the water is concentrated with the mixture of poisons from the reptiles that live in its root system.

Rarity Rare
How To Use Predominantly as a medicine, can possibly be used in alchemy.
Side Effects Medicinal use doesn't have side effects. Higher Sight, if used correctly, is followed by a period of apathy and lack of energy. If used incorrectly - death.
Status ~ N/A as it has not been studied much yet so majority of its properties are unknown.
Price ~ T7
Notes ~ The plant is largely unknown and undiscovered. Possibly only settlements in Stormlakes or nomads in Stormwastes would know about it but then would not venture near it due to the risks associated with gathering

Bubble Berries
Image
Developed by Seira Shiryu
Short Description: ~ A tiny berry with a very complex flavor.
Forums Found: ~ Rharne/ The Stormlands
Toxicity/Hazard: ~ The thorns are mildly poisonous, but there is no danger of death. Thorn pricks will sting fiercely for up to 3 breaks afterward. If the thin hair like thorns on the leaves and leaf stems get embedded in flesh, they must be removed within half a break or the effected area will turn red and swell (moderately). The injury will be extremely painful (a burning pain) until all of them are removed. These thorns are difficult to see so it is often hard to tell if any have become embedded and if so how many there are.
Appearance: Tiny red berries that grow on small bushes found near water throughout the Stormlands. The bushes are recognizable by their silver bark, mint scented dark green teardrop shaped leaves, and the tiny red berries that can be found growing on the underside of the leaves. The branches have sharp thorns. So do the leaf stems and the leaves themselves. These thorns are tiny and hair like, but they have tiny barbs that can easily get embedded anything that disturbs them.
RPG Properties:
Property 1: ~ The berries are extremely fragile, much like soap bubbles due to being liquid filled and having very thin skin.
Property 2: ~ The leaves repel rodents and some types of insects so they are good for pest control.

Rarity: Unusual in gardens, rare in the wild.
How To Use: 1) Food; both the berries and leaves are edible. The berries have a moderately sweet crisp refreshing flavor (with hints of several different berries) and a gentle minty tone that blends well with the berry flavor without overpowering it. They are great in desserts, marinades, syrups, teas, juices, and alcoholic beverages. The leaves have a complex flavor that is both minty, and citrus like with a mild tangy aftertaste. Young leaves have a stronger minty flavor while older ones have a stronger citrus flavor. They are great in salads, sauces/marinades, teas, and desserts. 2) Medical; both the berries and the leaves can be used. The berries can curb cravings and overeating in those who suffer from it while the leaves can increase appetite in those who need to eat more as well as soothe nausea in those who have trouble keeping anything down. Both can also aid in digestion.
Side Effects: The thorns are mildly toxic.
Status: Legal
Price: Tier 7 or 1 WP per level over tier.

Bubble Fruit
Image
Developed by Seira Shiryu
Short Description: ~ A tree with many different uses.
Forums Found: ~ Rharne/The Stormlands
Toxicity/Hazard: ~ The sap and the substance secreted by the leaves are not poisonous to people, but they can cause moderate to severe (depending on how sensitive a person's skin is) irritation when they come into contact with a person's skin.
Appearance: Bubble trees are small but beautiful fruit trees that reach a height of 5'-6' when fully grown. These trees are easily recognized by their silvery white bark, their diminutive height (for a tree), their bright blue flowers, and the dark green heart shaped leaves that have an irridescent sheen to them. Bubble fruit are narrow, oval shaped, and orange in color. The fruit are roughly the length and thickness of a human's middle finger.
RPG Properties
Property 1 ~ The trees live up to 155 arcs but they stop producing flowers and fruit after 145 arcs.
Property 2 ~ The leaves secrete a sticky substance that has qualities that drive harmful pests (insects) away. Their sap has the same qualities as the substance produced by their leaves.
Property 3 ~ These trees produce fruit in both Ymiden and Cylus. In Ymiden the fruit is incredibly fragile, much like soap bubbles due to being filled with liquid and having very thin skin. But in Cylus the liquid inside the fruit freezes into slush and their skin freezes so that it is somewhat less fragile.

Rarity: Unusual in gardens, rare in the wild.
How To Use: 1) Food; the fruit, flowers, bark, and sap are edible. Bubble fruit are liquid filled and have a complex sweet flavor with vanilla and cinnamon tones and gives a euphoric feeling when consumed that lasts anywhere from several bits to several breaks. The sap is very sweet, and has a citrus flavor. The flowers have a mildly sweet flavor that blends well with other flavors and give a warming sensation when consumed. And the bark has a pleasant nutty flavor. 2) Dye: the leaves produce a dark irridescent green color, the bark produces a silvery white color that has a shimmery quality to it, and the flowers produce a bright blue dye. 3) Medicinal: the liquid inside the fruit can be used in antidepressant medicines and the flowers can be used in remedies that will help warm someone up. 4) The wood has a smooth grain and a beautiful irridescent silvery white color that is prized by many in jewelry and other wooden products.
Side Effects: Consuming any part of this tree will leave a mild tingling sense in one's tongue that lasts anywhere from a few trills to several bits.
Status ~ Legal
Price: ~ Tier 7 or 1 WP per level above tier for the trees themselves and any product made from any part of them.

Bleeding Trees
Image
Developed by Elowen

Short Description ~ Bleeding Trees are said to be the only surviving species of an ancient tree that was destroy in Ilaren's Stand during the final battle between Ilaren and Faldrun. When the goddess released the sonic scream that pushed back Faldrun's army, it levelled everything in its path, except these trees. No one knows what kinda of trees these used to be but they were hardier than the hardiest of bunches. They are protected by an obscure decree that alludes to their origin and their purpose as a reminder of Rharne's past.
Forums Found ~ Only around Ilaren's stand dotted around Last Drink Inn & Tavern
Toxicity/Hazard ~ Bleeding trees have these amber nodules which burn like lava. The trees seem to be made of that substance contained by a few inches thick bark that is resistant to the extreme temperature. However, this renders the tree impossible to cut down. If the amber nodules is disturbed it bursts out super heated amber until the surrounding air which is considerably cooler hardens the outburst. Surprisingly, it is not that difficult to pierce the nodules. Furthermore, the tree seems to continuously release toxic fumes in its immediate vicinity similar to volcanic fumes (sulfur dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, and heavy metals). If one could capture the bleeding amber in a fire resistant container, perhaps this could be isolated since prolonged exposure to these fumes and the toxins leads to Sunfire Sickness.

Appearance Bleeding Trees are gnarled dead things that seem to self-sustain as long as they have burning, liquid amber running through their bodies.
RPG Properties
Property 1 ~ Bleeding amber - superheated amber that releases airborne toxin (Ambertoxin) and causes burns
Property 2 ~ Toxic air - 5-10 feet radius around the tree is impregnated with volcanic fumes

Rarity Common around Illaren's stand and Last Drink Inn & Tavern
How To Use Toxin extraction, source of fake onyx
Side Effects Sunfire Sickness
Status ~ Illegal to harvest in any shape or form
Price ~ T8 due to dangers of harvest
Notes ~ If someone managed to collect the superheated bleeding amber, depending on the quantity, they will notice that the smaller the quantity the thinner to hardened shell around the liquid amber and the faster it solidifies into a dull piece of rock that could pass for an onyx. These fake onyx's seem to retain some heat even after cooling and hardening. Corresponding to this - the larger the globule, the longer it takes to cool down, the more heat it retains. Speeding up the cooling process may cause weaker and more fragile fake onyx that will shattered under pressure or impact.
