☵ Fridgar would find himself in front of a large cave, the face of which would resemble a snake's open mouth. Around him, he could sense the movement of creatures, of reptiles and amphibians, scurrying about as they ran from the presence of the superior being......except for one. One lone snake, a rather large one at that, sat at the mouth of the cave and stared at Fridgar.
It motioned for the man to come, and when he did, Fridgar would see the
serpent far more clearly than before. It smiled, perking up as the Protean got closer. "Welcome Fridgar, welcome to the Viper's Inner Sanctum." And with that, the large snake slithered into the cave, tapping Fridgar as if to tell him to follow.
The cave was dark, no light source of any kind, but somehow the snake was as clear as day to the Lothar. It was like they were walking in an endless void of darkness. And then the girthy serpent spoke, and as he spoke a scene began to play out around him and a single word echoed in his head.......
helpless.
"You see Dosan was helpless the moment he was born. He never had the protection a child should when growing up. He was born out of a need to make a legacy and born of a union filled with malcontent, murder, bloodshed, and hate. As capable as he appears, as put together as he displays himself, the man is helpless to his own self-destruction. He wants nothing more than to shed that weakness, to shed that skin of his past. He was never protected, never given the reassurance that no matter what life threw at him he would be safe."
It explained as the scenes of harsh training and callus parenting echoed along the walls of the cave, allowing for the Protean to see just how harsh & unloved Dosan's early life was. As they continued down the corridor, the visions along the wall changed, this time the visions that appear were of broken glass, cracked imagery along the cave walls. Fridgar would hear a cackling laugh, and then the word would whisper its way into his ear........
psychotic
"The poor boy, because of the mental abuse he suffered under his parents he has a clear detachment from the norms of society. He may appear to be of normal sound and mind but the boy is a true psychopath, one who revels in the destruction he can cause with his own hands. He is able to unleash his aggression at the drop of a needle and do so willingly, and with a smile. He is unstable and fixates on those who are alluring to him. He can't connect with normal people and copes by wearing a skin that allows others to see him as normal."
As the snake explained Fridgar would see....no feel his unstable psyche, the churning of his mind and the thoughts that swirl within. It would be like an unharmonized chorus of screams and questions, statements and affirmations all in Dosan's voice. Fridgar would see scenes of this play out along the cave walls as they walked, the visions and voices moving in tandem with each other in order to paint the picture of just how unstable his student's mental health was.
When those images faded something came across the walls. Streaks of red, thick and vibrant in color dripped from the walls, then turned into a downpour in a matter of trills. And as it rained, it was as if the visions of Dosan killing were projected on the torrential blood rain as a single word echoed in Fridgar's mind.......
bloodthirsty
"Why do you think the scales on his body are red, his eyes as well? Its because the young man has known no other color than that of blood red. Since his birth, Dosan has been trained in the art of killing, and combine that with his psychosis, well that makes for a very efficient killing machine. He has bled for the wounded god and spilled even more blood for the entity. His thirst for bloodshed is unbridled in my opinion, and given the level of power he is at with his magic, I feel as if that will only grow as time goes on. The man has been soaked in blood, that of quacians, heretics, and of his father. He has seen so much murder that it has become normal to him. He revels in the spilling of blood and seeks out the opportunity to do so whenever he can."
With those words, the rain ceased to be, and a light at the end of the endless corridor could be seen. As they passed through the light Fridgar would find himself in a large cavern, walls adorned with ethereal reptiles of all kinds. Along the floor of the cave was a pit, and within that pit were a sea of snakes. A path formed within the pit and the large snake and Fridgar would cross it, till they reached the center of it.
Once there a massive statue appeared, one that resembled Fridgar, Dosan, Zarik, Alistair, Fantasma, & Gabriella. Staring at the statue Fridgar would hear a single word............
loyal The large snake rested its head on the protean's shoulder as it spoke.
"Despite all of the negative traits that make him who he is, Dosan has one trait that is good and outways the bad.....he is loyal to a fault to those who earn it. These people depicted here have shown Dosan something worthy to inspire his loyalty in them." He said as he pointed to each figure.
"Alistair showed him strength, strength in oneself and who they are. Zarik has shown him growth, coming from that fragile and meek runner to a confident lord. Fantasma is a weird girl but she enjoys his company and showed him true acceptance despite his odd tendencies. Gabriella showed him what a mother's love should be, embracing him as her own flesh and blood. And then there is you.....notice that your statue is shining more radiantly than the others?" it asked, tapping Fridgar's nose with its tongue.
"You have breathed new life into him, saved him when he was at his lowest of moments. Even though you hold no love for him as he does for you, Dosan has been fervent in the fact that no matter what happens, he will remain loyal to you. You have shown him that there is more to life than being a tool or weak. With you, he has gained a sense of self-worth and seeks to better himself because of you." The snake smiled, and the cave began to glow with the light of the ethereal reptiles within.
Then Fridgar would notice that he had no clue who this serpent was or why it new so much about him. If he asked the serpent would only smile more, and as such began to with away.
