[Warrick] Sword Play [Vivian]

Her sword had hit nothing. It was mildly irritating, but incredibly understandable. The blade collided with the ground, the momentum ceasing when contact was made with the ground. While her sword collided with the ground, Vivian's sword sliced past her side, connecting with the padded armor. It would have been a debilitating blow in real combat, but again, this was all practice. The padding protected her, even though now it sported a tear from Vivian's rapier. The white fluff peeked out of the jerkin, representing the blood had it been her actual body.

Although a counter swing would have been appropriate, Zvezdana only saw that her blade was on the side of Vivian's shield. It then dawned on her she could potentially use that to her benefit. Vivian would be distracted with the blade, and she could surely do something else. She pulled the blade up in a slash towards Vivian, only to be greeted by her shield. The thump of her metal on leather and wood was less than appealing. Metal and metal was more exciting. Zvezdana smirked, hope in hear heart. She shoved herself forward, hoping to catch Vivian off guard and shove her entire body into the soldier and knock her down. Get her off balance at least and be able to strike more firmly. Whatever it would outcome, Zvezdana hoped it was to her advantage.

Vivian smirked as she caught Zvezdana's sword on her shield, then let out a gasp of air as the other noble-woman slammed into her, knocking Vivian back. The move had been unexpected and Vivian hadn't been even remotely prepared for it, her footing lost as she stumbled back into the dirt. The airman was able to turn her fall into a roll, but even once she regained her footing, she was badly off balance and at a disadvantage she hadn't anticipated.

In a rather desperate attempt to offset the disadvantage caused by Zveadana's push, Vivian thrust with rapier, aiming at the noblewoman's other shoulder. It was a weak thrust though, and if Zvezdana knocked the blade away she would likely have a chance to land a hit on the raven haired soldier, something Vivian sincerely hoped the Venora tutor didn't realize.

Zvezdana was rather proud of herself when she got the woman unbalanced. However, the thrust struck true and the point of the rapier jabbed into the soft practice jerkin of her belly. She had been so confident in her last attack that she had forgotten to be prepared for another attack. Overconfidence was a killer in many forms. Even with a weak jab, which Zvezdana did not even notice, she believe that it would have been a relatively debilitating blow. The airman had won this bout, that much was certain. Zvezdana pulled her hands up into the air, her short sword glimmering in the bright sunlight. They had not been at this very long, but it felt so much longer for Zvezdana. The beads of sweat that lined her brow showed that she had worked for this loss. Slowly, she lowered her sword. With pants and jerkin impeding her normal style, she bowed to the victor.

"Well done Lady Warrick. You certainly are good with a weapon. Your superior should be impressed with your fighting skills," Zvezdana purred, defeated. Of course, there was a chance he was disgraced by having a brawl style blow inflicted upon her by a lady of the court. Who knew. She shoved the point of her sword into the dirt, pulling at the collar of the oversized shirt she wore beneath the jerkin. "If it is alright with you, I shall take my leave now. This clothing does not fit well and it is quite unbecoming for me to wear. Hopefully I will never meet you on a real battlefield. I quite like my life as it is."

Vivian carefully controlled a sigh of relief as her wild thrust hit home. Instead, as Zvezdana backed away in surrender, the young Warrick, lowered point and bowed gracefully, ideally letting Zvezdana believe her wild thrust had been a carefully controlled move. "Thank you, lady Venora. You show some promise yourself." she said graciously, and at the other nobles request to be excused, Vivian nodded. "Of course. And I can't honestly believe we ever shall, Lady Venora. Why would the noble houses of Rynmere have reason to fight." she said, smiling warmly.

Overview:

General comments. Loved this thread! I don't know what I enjoyed more - the sparring or the verbal sparring. They might have hit each other a few times on the battle field, but they were like a pair of wolves circling each other. Really good read, thank you both. I'd love to see them meet again in a ballroom where Zvez has the upper hand in terms of "territory"- I wonder how different it would be?
Story All good - an interesting read which was clear and flowed well. Nice use of what seems to be a well rounded NPC
