Can't You Hear Me Knocking

The smile on Tio's face faltered for a split moment when Tasha asked about the link Tio shared with his own master. Zavious. Now that was a subject he'd been hoping to avoid. It was inevitable, he supposed, that in taking on a student of his own the question of who taught him would come up, but he'd been hoping to avoid it for... well, forever. The fact was that Tio was ashamed of the fact that he'd been abandoned by the one who'd initiated him, that he had been deemed a mistake of an apprentice. Would Tasha think less of him if she found out? Would she resent learning from a sub-par master? It would be better for everyone if she never found out about him.

And so Tio called a casual smile up onto his face and hid his true thoughts behind a mask. "Yes, my master and I share such a bond. But no, you won't be linked to him through me." At least he didn't think she would. To be honest he really didn't know as much about the nature of magical sparks as he was acting like he did. At her mention of intending to obtain more than one spark however Tio's smile became genuine again, if not quite a bit bemused. "Are you now? Then you'll be risking death multiple times, and becoming something truly unique indeed if you survive. In your analysis of your great grandfather's narrow-mindedness did you consider that maybe he just decided to quit while he was ahead when his life was on the line?" He wasn't faulting her of course, not when he was of the same opinion himself, but the point to all his questions was to try and make Tasha consider the meaning of magic from a variety of different perspectives. Xavier wanted to live forever, and had acted accordingly. Tio also wanted to live forever, but more than that he wanted to live forever as someone powerful, as an existance beyond that of any other man. And to do that he needed to wager his life more than once, as would Tasha it seemed.

Still, the fact that Tasha was certain her ancestor had only been a necromancer was a useful bit of information, especially considering that magic mirror from earlier...

He gave a pleased nod in response to Tasha's suggestion that they try an uninitiated apprenticeship until the end of Cylus. It was a wise and moderated decision, exactly the kind he rarely made himself and wanted to make sure any student of his got into the habit of doing. A teacher should always push their student to surpass them one day after all. "I think that's a very wise decision Tasha. Make every judgement with the same level head and I think you'll do just fine as a mage."

Well anyway that was enough serious decision making for now! He'd been cooped up in this lab for too long, time he got some fresh air and exercise. With a spring in his step Tio hopped out of his seat and grabbed a pair of spades that were leaning up against the wall, and threw one over to Tasha. "Alrighty then, now that's been sorted let's start your very first lesson. Lesson one: magic is surprisingly dirty! We're going to need a lot of dead bodies for our experiments, and you're going to need to learn to not find them repulsive, so we're going on a field trip to the graveyard. Come on Blondiepop, let's go grave robbing!"

Time to find out if Tasha could handle a bit of grave dirt under her nails.
