Starting Skills and Knowledges

I have recently created my character and have chosen the skills I wish for my character to have via the starting package/UCP. However, I thought I read somewhere in the wiki that your character starts with a certain number of knowledges per skill based on their competency. I thought there was more than 2 knowledges for a novice skill per my reading, but could I be wrong? Also, how can I add common knowledges to my UCP?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Starting Skills and Knowledges

Heya,

Typically novice skills selected from the starting package begin with 2 knowledge each, yes. The exception to this is the Racial Bonus, which begins with 5 knowledges. However there's currently a glitch with the way the racial bonus is applied, in that it registers the correct xp, but only gives 2 knowledge, where it should be 5. These 5 knowledges are usually slid over to another novice skill.

The error is fixable by manually changing it from the UCP, x'ing out the 5 knowledges in the other novice skill, and then applying the correct number of knowledges to the skills (in numbered form).

I'm not sure what you mean by common knowledge? You mean non-skill knowledge? Those are sorta deprecated and not really used anymore. But if you really want, you can add them to your character. Just would advise you not to go overboard, or give your pc knowledge that is super rare or unlikely to have known. (search the common knowledge part of the wiki for an idea of what each character should or would know).

Hope that helps.
