Childhood
Farmer was an odd mer, to be sure. He was at peace, an unlikely trait even from the young of the race, content to simply settle his land, disinterested in pirating ships or hunting great beasts of the deep like his fellows. Rather than take what others had, he'd thought, why not build and grow something for himself? For this reason, when many had reached about 14-16, Farmer was often ridiculed and attacked by his maddened tribespeople.
Farm Life
As a kelp and crab farmer in the depths of the ocean, Farmer kept his people well supplied from the comfort of his own isolation, only an odd customer or so coming through to grab rations for a journey or perhaps ask if anybody had passed on through. Farmer was friendly enough with such folk, and trusted no raider would want to trade in feisty crabs or unruly kelp if they had a choice, so Farmer lived leisurely and without bother. That was, until...
First Reisah
One day, a few mer that had recently come of age decided in their maddened state that they would kill all of the crabs on the farm and contaminate the kelp, for kicks at it were. In the coming days, they would see how far mer farmer Farmer would go in sworn vengeance. Coming home to the massacre of his poor cattle whom he'd wanted to butcher on his own terms, Farmer remained unusually calm, first cleaning up the mess, collecting what could be salvaged from the shoddily butchered shells, and just sat in his mer chair, thinking... thinking... thinking... until an idea came to mind. Farmer was not a fighter, in spite of being fit enough to farm. Over the course of the year, he made contact with various mer in the Minisink territory, having them report ships which pass above their waters. Recording and creating a comprehensive map of trade routes and navy patrols. He began a rumor of an unguarded caravan ship coming through nearby at a certain time, many members of the boys' tribe deciding to go raid this ship. Now, the ship was indeed real, for every deception requires an inkling of truth, however upon the village being left to a skeleton of guards which included the youngest, a sea monster came upon the village, consuming mer men, women, and children alike. This monster had been lured by Farmer, who tracked it down similarly to the ships, and orchestrated this revenge with ruthless intent.
Information Broker
With his Reisah sated, Farmer realized he was actually pretty good with information gathering and analysis, and thus began to enter the intelligence market, selling his data on ship routes to pirates and mer, helping them evade capture or to find an easy score. In so far as a serious profession, Farmer regards himself as a farm mer first and foremost, with information broking as a side project, finding relative success in both. The money he earns from his brokering goes to rebuilding his precious farm.
