Appearance

Like his name suggests, Emerald is noticeably green on nearly every part of his body. His smooth skin is a greener shade of teal, while his hair is more like the ocean he resides in. On land, he might be mistaken for a half bred Biqaj with his oddly shaped ears and strikingly colourful eyes. Unlike Mer from more isolated tribes, Emerald's face is welcoming and jovial. He smiles often and is very expressive with his arms and facial expressions when communicating with land dwellers.

Having swam since birth, Emerald has acquired a strong body of lithe muscle. On land he stands at an average height of six feet but at sea his tail length makes him nearly eight feet long. His tail has the serpent like qualities of an eel but is decorated with the unique leaf shaped fins of the leafy sea horse. His lower half is a brighter green than his upper torso to blend better with the sea weed he tries to mimic. His legs are typical to a humanoid but with the same shade of green as his tail.

History


Growing up in the Kanohi tribe, Under the guidance of the wise and benevolent Dortaka, there was little to fret about. However, Emerald still sought out danger at every turn. Whether it was to find a new treasure in a sunken ship or to investigate rumours of a monster in a nearby cave, There was no stopping Emerald from putting his life in jeopardy.

It is said that fortune favours the bold, and Emerald was able to find interesting treasures that more cautious Mer would never find. So when a mysterious Biqaj Man looking for a lost treasure approached the tribe as they tended to their leviathan, Emerald name was brought up. Not wanting to ruin his reputation, Emerald freely offered his assistance to the handsome Biqaj in hopes of a big reward for his efforts.

As soon as the description the treasures location left the mans lips, Emerald knew were to look. It was the golden ship with the dragon figure head that sunk arcs back in a storm. There were no survivors and anything of value was stripped clean but according to the man their was a secret compartment with the treasure in it. Emerald found that the man was true to his word but upon looking at the unremarkable stone before him he couldn’t understand why this man wanted it. Emerald swam back to shore and presented what he had found.

The Mer sat in anticipation for his reward but the man handed him nothing in return. Instead the biqaj man offered him magical knowledge and instruction for his continued services and Emerald agreed having always found magic interesting. The mer was sent on a few other retrieval missions, much harder than the first but each time he found some old looking trinket the man wanted and was rewarded with more knowledge of magic. The Biqaj was pleased with the Mer's work and agreed to initiate Emerald into a magic called Attunement. The man met Emerald in a secluded cave and introduced Emerald to the horrifying and beautiful song that infected its new host with the spark of magic. The Mysterious Biqaj then went on his way, leaving Emerald with only a note book to help him with his new found power.

Housing
