Inali blinked slowly, taking in every facet of the clay and wood temple that lay before her. A small sign denoted the purpose of the structure, though it was obscured by a bountiful collection of grasses. This temple provided a sanctuary for worshipers of Chrien and U'frek even if the two Immortals were at odds with each other. The building was small, but Inali could tell that it did not want for visitors or offerings. A bounty of food, trinkets, incense, and hand written prayers spilled out from either side of the entry way. The strong rose incense blended with the lake air and gave the entire area a mystical feel, as if it was somehow located far beyond Ne'haer. This was simply an illusion, of course, as it was only a few bits walk to the Docks or Doracre's Delicacies. Inali had passed the temple many times while she studied Common at the lakeside. She had never stepped into the building or even glanced at the various sacrifices. The Eidisi bent down and examined a whittled bone of some sea creature that had been fashioned into the shape of a cuttlefish. A thin piece of fishing line had been tied to the middle of the bone. A rusty fishing hook dangled a few inches below the bone, and a small piece of parchment had been rolled into a tight scroll before being pierced through the middle with the tip of the hook. Inali wondered if the carving had been the work of Rorom or some other scrimshaw artist.

Over the last few trials, she had made it a point to visit all of the public temples of Ne'haer. Her own patron Immortal was worshiped somewhere deep within the underground tunnels. If there was a secret entrance to Audrae's shrine, such information was barred to all but the most devout of followers. The visit from the Naer had reminded her of her purpose and the fact that she could not simply rest on her laurels. Audrae expected more of her chosen than a lazy attempt at gathering secrets. So she continued talking to the leaders and followers of other Immortals and did her best to understand why they had chosen such a path. The Eidisi breathed in, signed a quick prayer to Audrae, and stepped inside the wooden double doors. She spoke aloud to no one in particular, unsure of who would be willing to help her.

"Hello? I'm here to learn more about U'frek... or perhaps Chrien. Can anyone assist me?"

Apologies for the lateness, crappiness, and shortness of the reply. I just wanted to get my foot in the door before the season change!
The temple of U'frek and Chrien were as good a place as any to find refuge, Rorom had discovered in the subsequent trials after his treatment by the medicine woman Sel'ma. Nevertheless, as the dark of Cylus began to give way, and the anticipation of the returning light, Rorom felt he was overstaying his welcome. So he knelt much of the day by the altar, praying for guidance from U'frek while promising to cast off in a voyage in his name.

He knelt there for some time, before hearing the voice behind him, a familiar one though he couldn't place it immediately. He turned his head fractionally and saw her blue skin and then remembered. Ahh, that was the one with whom he'd been helped to learn common! Inami or Inali? Yes, that was the one.

"Inali! How wonderful to see you again." He said, standing on his feet and waving toward her, "Fancy meeting you in the temple of U'frek."

He wore simple clothes of roughspun and sandals, and a bandage was wrapped around his head. But otherwise he looked alright.

Don’t even worry about it! I’m just glad we pulled the thread together in time! It’s short, but I can’t see Rorom doing much else than replying to her, so it doesn’t bother me at all.

Inali’s carefully blank face broke into a grin as soon as Rorom turned to face her. The Biqaj seemed equally happy to see her, and greeted her with a friendly wave. The Eidisi looked around the temple, curious as to whether they would be hushed by a disapproving priest or acolyte. After a few trills of cautious silence, Inali shrugged and replied in Rakahi,

“Rorom! It’s good to see you too. I take it they don’t let Fortuna in here?”

The Eidisi chuckled at that, as she imagined some acolyte mistaking the albatross for a particularly active sacrifice. She paused, unsure if her explanation would be enough for Rorom. It had been many trials since she had seen the fisherman. Had her heard of her run in with Rigo and Thetros? Would he think differently of her if he knew that she had defended the rights of a serial murderer? Inali pressed her palms into her thighs lightly as she replied,

“Yes, I’m ambling around in hopes of some inspiration. The last few seasons have been difficult and I’m hoping that a spiritual connection will help me figure out where to go next.”

It was a carefully crafted half-truth, sprinkled with just enough of her real woes to seem genuine. Inali didn’t believe that a spiritual connection would help her – no Immortal cared enough about the everyday problems of an eidisi. However, those she met within the Temples had helped her. They suggested destinations outside of Ne’haer and recommended pilgrimages that might show her a different side of the world. They spoke in new languages and burned incense while conversing with her, and expected nothing other than her company in return.

“I don’t mean that in the spiritual way either – I’ve been thinking about leaving Ne’haer for a few seasons. I have a list of destinations but I haven’t decided. I’ve tried to be logical about it, but it’s not easy.”

She smiled ruefully and nodded towards Rorom’s bandages,

“Enough about my life. What happened to you? Did the fish finally take their revenge for you whittling at their bones?”
