Inali blinked slowly, taking in every facet of the clay and wood temple that lay before her. A small sign denoted the purpose of the structure, though it was obscured by a bountiful collection of grasses. This temple provided a sanctuary for worshipers of Chrien and U'frek even if the two Immortals were at odds with each other. The building was small, but Inali could tell that it did not want for visitors or offerings. A bounty of food, trinkets, incense, and hand written prayers spilled out from either side of the entry way. The strong rose incense blended with the lake air and gave the entire area a mystical feel, as if it was somehow located far beyond Ne'haer. This was simply an illusion, of course, as it was only a few bits walk to the Docks or Doracre's Delicacies. Inali had passed the temple many times while she studied Common at the lakeside. She had never stepped into the building or even glanced at the various sacrifices. The Eidisi bent down and examined a whittled bone of some sea creature that had been fashioned into the shape of a cuttlefish. A thin piece of fishing line had been tied to the middle of the bone. A rusty fishing hook dangled a few inches below the bone, and a small piece of parchment had been rolled into a tight scroll before being pierced through the middle with the tip of the hook. Inali wondered if the carving had been the work of Rorom or some other scrimshaw artist.
Over the last few trials, she had made it a point to visit all of the public temples of Ne'haer. Her own patron Immortal was worshiped somewhere deep within the underground tunnels. If there was a secret entrance to Audrae's shrine, such information was barred to all but the most devout of followers. The visit from the Naer had reminded her of her purpose and the fact that she could not simply rest on her laurels. Audrae expected more of her chosen than a lazy attempt at gathering secrets. So she continued talking to the leaders and followers of other Immortals and did her best to understand why they had chosen such a path. The Eidisi breathed in, signed a quick prayer to Audrae, and stepped inside the wooden double doors. She spoke aloud to no one in particular, unsure of who would be willing to help her.
"Hello? I'm here to learn more about U'frek... or perhaps Chrien. Can anyone assist me?"
