They had, the trial before, made some things which, hopefully, would mean that they could track Ellasin. The thing was, she had to test them. So, Faith made her way out into the garden. Her bodyguard, Alissa, was with her and there were Lightning Knights all over the place. Faith was starting to feel like a prisoner in their home, but she knew that this was just ingratitude and fear talking. The pair of them were trying to keep things as normal and usual as they could, for the sake of the children, but it was hard. Then, yestertrial, they'd made these items; or more specifically, Padraig had and she'd helped; and that had led to all sorts of bother, so they hadn't tested them yet. But now, it was time for testing. So, Faith had brought the two items out, each in an individual small pouch and wrapped up carefully. The first one which she examined was ~ hopefully ~ going to lead them to Ellasin's phylactory.
It had been a steep price which Padraig had paid, and Faith hoped that this was worth it. So, she pulled out the stone. It was ~ or rather it had been ~ a Fire Well. Now it was more of a gem, burning a deep red and almost-warm to the touch. Faith looked at it and held it in her hand, examining it. First, she held it with her eyes closed, to feel it and how it changed. Moving around in a circle on the spot where she stood, Faith felt it warm, slightly, she thought. That was good - maybe he'd managed to make a heat-seeking sort of thing, she thought and then, she opened her eyes.
"Oh," Faith said and she smiled. It was a line - an actual visible line. Faith breathed out and her outbreath was slightly shaking, ragged sounding. "Thank you," she whispered to all the Immortals who had helped, because she knew that this? This would make an enormous difference to them. As she held on to it, though, she felt something and, frowning, Faith lowered her gaze to examine her hand. "That's... odd."
It was, indeed, a strange sensation, but one which she was aware of. Frowning slightly in concentration, Faith cast her memory back and she realised what she was feeling. "I'm losing blood." The former Fire Well, now tracking device, glowed and she looked at it. "Well, that's interesting. You're a tricksy little thing." Then, she knew that it was time to experiment more. Her own blood was in here, and as such it might only work for her.
Quickly, it was obvious that it did not work for Alissa, but Faith wasn't put off by this. There were lots of people in the house, around the house, and so she needed to find out. She was thorough and meticulous and she realised that it was only her and Kura who saw the line. However, for those marked by Famula, Famula's son, or those marked by Karem, there was that hot and cold thing. But did that take them to the same place? Faith tested that next and, having made her way once more around her many house guests, she came to the conclusion that no, it did not. For Famula or Karem touched (be that by mark or birth, as far as she could see) - the point of this hot / cold thing was to lead to things Ellasin had made. The thralls which were created by her, the soulstones, those things.
But the line went somewhere else. It took blood. Where it went, though, Faith didn't know. She just hoped.
