When Ari'sora's stomach also rumbled, Ky felt some of the tension ease out of shoulders and muscles that she hadn't even realised were tense. At least she wasn't the only hungry one of them! She slid the book she had been reading at first back into its place on the shelf and smiled back, as much out of relief as anything else.
As she led the way back out into the snow and the cold, she wrapped her coat close around her against the chill, grateful that the Scholar's Nook wasn't far. "It isn't far," she said aloud indicating the landmarks she used to guide her as they went. "Scholars from the university go there, I think." Snow crunched softly under her boots and she kept one eye on the smaller woman, matching her pace to hers, so that her own longer legs didn't absently stride away from her.
Light gleamed through the windows of the Nook, suggesting that the weak sunlight was supplemented with lamps for better reading. Inside it was much warmer, and Ky tipped her head back to read the list of drinks on the slate on the wall. Assorted teas... Coffee... And yes, hot chocolate. "My treat," she offered, digging in her pocket for enough coins to pay for both of them. "I would like hot chocolate. What would you like?"
When they had both chosen and found a table, Ky would consider the preserved cherries studding her slice of cake. "One," she would count in Scalveen and Common, pointing to the first cherry, and then on to others. "Two. Three..." and look up with raised eyebrows, trying to encourage Ari'sora to pick up the lesson where they had stopped.
