Morning
Fitness Centre, Viden
The human looking Yludih walked into the physio room. He was probably recognized here by now as he had been here seven or eight times now. Normally he was escorted by his nurse-and-physio-trainer and his nurse's student nurse, which wasn't the case this time. Actually, he had no idea what the rules were on the use of the Centre or the physio room but he figured if he explained it right it could count as more physio training. They wouldn't fault him for that, would they? Well, Vesram and Tholian would but they were always fussy about those kinds of things. He had spent last trial here as well and a new exercise had given him an idea.
He had spent last trial tossing a ball back and forth between him and Lilea, who had kept tossing the ball to his left and right like an annoying person. He knew it was to make him move and stop, multitask while recovering and training. But it was annoying nonetheless. Of course, Lilea had enjoyed it and he figured she'd used it to work out a little of her own frustrations from the season so far. It had been quite eventful for her as well. Vesram had watched and smiled and occasionally thrown a ball Sin had missed until he figured their time was up for the trial.
This trial, the room was still empty, as most patients only got started here in a break or two. Nobody wanted to get up extra early for this. Nobody except for Sintih, who had enough time to sleep in between his other engagements. He had taken the early morning to walk over to the Centre and carve out some time for himself with one of the balls. The ball was roughly hand sized and he could hold with one hand, although it stretched the limit just a little. Ball in hand, Sin walked over to one of the corners, facing the walls. It would keep the thing from getting away from him too easily, forcing it to come to a stop or bounce back in his direction.
To get himself used to it, he'd start slow, short and easy. He held both hands out, next to one another, at about shoulder width from each other. One with the ball, pointing down, the other without, pointing up, ready to receive it. He focused, like he'd done countless times before, and bent space to his will. He connected the point below the ball to the point above his empty hand and put them against each other. The world around him filled with soft humming a moment before light purple tore reality apart.
Two light purple tears appeared in front of him. Harmless on their own, in fact, incapable of harm on their own, but with incredible utility. He focused on both points and kept the porthole sized holes open like he'd done so easily, automatically, before. Then he released the ball and it disappeared into the first hole. He closed his other hand, expecting the ball to have been there. Instead the leather ball hit his half formed fist as it tried to grab empty air, softly bouncing off of his fingers and onto the ground, rolling away from him before coming to a stop. Sin clicked his tongue, annoyed at having missed, and walked over to pick up the ball. He had time. He could afford some failures. For now.
