Bio: In the Bio, please answer three important questions. Who is this mage? What weight of impact do they have on the world or their organization? And finally, Why is this mage seeking a student?

Byth'ni was an Ydalir Ranger once upon a time. He knew the art of Becoming and Rupturing first as a mage, and used these to strengthen his connection to his animal companion, as well as the wilds of Melrath as a whole.

When he was initiated into Necromancy, his spark and direction in life fundamentally changed. He became obsessed with keeping his pack of wild dogs about him. The Spark drove him to keep mementos of his animals, not just totems, but their very bodies became the subject of his necromantic creations.

Eventually, he began making it his mission to thin the herds of wild animals, trying them and putting them against the crucible of hardship that his pack of dogs brought to them. He sought to protect the wilds in his own way, by thinning the herd, and strengthening the breed.

He's since been disavowed by the Ydalir and Melrathi society as well. This suits him fine, as he's adopted the form of a shaggy, fanged hound. An echo of the man he used to be remains however, as he has retained the trait of human vocal chords, so he can speak while in this form.

Appearance:

He presents as a black/brown shaggy hound with long legs and longer fangs. His ears point straight up, with tufts of fur curling around them.

His eyes are amber, which are framed by dark circles in whatever form he takes.

He's usually accompanied by a few of his 7 gaunt hounds, of a similar breed to him, but enhanced and preserved at the height of their strength through Necromancy.








Relationship: She met him, while chasing rumors of a wild dog population that had been poaching sheep from the outlying farms of Fensalir. She swiftly finds herself outmaneuvered by his Gaunt hounds, who threaten to tear her throat out where she stands, when Byth'ni calls for them to stop, and stalks ahead to meet her. There, they have a meeting of the minds, and sensing her already considerable power, Byth'ni makes his case to her.

He relates his belief that by hunting the sickly populations and lesser warriors, he ultimately strengthens the herd, thus making the wilds of Melrath much better for his presence. He acknowledges that Alora is similar, in that she is a hunter of mortal men, and thus thins the herd in her own way.

Intrigued by his comparison, Alora seeks him out once more before deciding to ask him to teach her the ways of necromancy.
