Appearance

Slapdash describes Korva best. She puts little effort into her appearance, her brown hair a constant state of tangles she hacks at will and her clothes hardly ever match. Despite this she walks proud, confident, and usually barefoot. The rough sea life leaves her tawny skin with many callouses, the coarse sand seeming to have left a perpetual mark that never allows her smooth skin. Her skin is marred with silver and white scars of vary size and shape, all of whose stories are ever changing just like her eyes. Thick browed and thin lipped she usually wears a much too wide smile or an unattractive smirk that makes her lips non existant.

The rare special occasions Korva can be bothered to attend show a more put together side of the Biqaj. She adorns trinkets she never usually wears, runs a brush through her unkempt mane, her clothes even manage to fit her slight frame. Though no matter what she wears her minimal curves are always lost beneath her clothes. And though some choose to cover their ears, unless her hair covers them naturally Korva cannot be bothered to cover the sharp points.

Personality


Korva is often likened to an octopus. It seems a strange comparison until you see her in different scenarios. Her personality gives the impression of constant change, suiting the mood and enviroment as needed. This constant shift can make her been seen as manipulative, hiding behind a facade each time she around a different person. But she couldn't care less, Korva means everything she is in that moment, her simple wish being to keep things moving smoothly in order to avoid confrontation as much as possible. An introvert at heart she keeps to herself or stays within small circuits, a trait at odds with her love of stories.

Stories that often lead people to believe her a wonderful storyteller or a pathological liar. The Biqajs' history changes at will, her stories more grandiose with each telling. Her self assured demanor makes it easy for her to be believed or leaving all rolling their eyes. To her credit Korva does not care one way or another if people believe her, she is patient and easy going, simplying enjoying the joy of telling a tale. Perhaps even enjoying the sound of her own voice too much. This doesn't mean she is never angered, she can be. In fact, she has a long memory and takes great pleasure in an eye for an eye, this leaves her with more aqquaintances than any real close friends or lovers aside from family. It suits the Biqaj just fine as she is far from a sexual being. Her physical relationships far and few between her many fierce and fleeting crushes never amounting to more than story fodder or small wood carvings in her spare time. For though she is a fisherman and sailor by trade Korvas' real passion lies in the wood itself and finding the image inside the wood.

Perhaps it is her race or simply in her nature but Korva is highly religious. It comes as easy as breathing for her, speaking and likening them to beloved family, expecting no more in than what she puts out. They are a part of her life just as much as any person she meets and she enjoys it that way. But piety doesn't make a good person, Korva tends to be greedy in her dealings with others, her only true loyalty being to her family while all others can be double crossed in dealings or shorted unless someone was to gain her trust enough for her to care about people outside of her small circle.

History



Born near the coasts Ne'haer, Korva and her sisters came early after a storm that kept her family from reaching shore for their birth. But as tumultuous as the coming was the years after were relatively quiet, the family keeping close to the shores in turns until the girls were deemed old enough for a longer voyage.

From there the girls did not need the seas to keep everyone on their toes. Growing up identical in looks the girls took great joy in pretending to be each other to prank the adults. Sometimes even get each other in trouble when they were angry. On one such occasion Korva was nearly left behind in Rharne when her sisters changed clothes twice to see if her parents would be fooled into double counting them. It worked all too well and took nearly a week for Korva to be brought back to the boat. Which did not trouble the young girl at all, she bothered other Biqaj for room and board in return for ship upkeep while her family came back to get her. In fact, Korva still remembers it as her most boring adventure, the best part of it being that her and her sisters got away with their little game for more than a day.

After this misadventure that Korva became the default “leader” of the trio, by no means was this because of she was responsible but more because it was her bright ideas and passive demeanor that meant all three girls were late, confused, lost, half-dressed or otherwise in some sort of trouble. And though her sisters seemed to grow out if this Korva retained her go with the flow approach to most things in life. It was that very approach that would lead Korva to Rivan on her first trip to Etzos. From a Biqaj merchant ship, the parents were trading while the the boy amused and surprised the triplets by being able to tell them apart. In return for not telling their parents the trick to how to tell the girls apart the boy demanded a kiss, which only Korva agreed to in return for a small bloodstone. From then the two became fast friends, catching each other in between ports and spending long days swimming and sailing around Ne’haer. No one was surprised when the trio of girls split with Korva and Rivan becoming the duo seen most often together.

The surprise would come years later when the duo would split. Originally the two had plans to be promised to each other but Korva refused when she found that despite their attempts she could not keep a child. After their third attempt the two feuded, harsh words spoken and though Rivan still wished to be promised to Korva, the Biqaj woman felt it wouldn’t be fair to him. Telling only her immediate family Korva left the next dawn with a human merchant ship. Using the money given to her she was able to trade passage and offering her seafaring services while she saved for a new boat of her own. But it wasn’t cheap and Korva couldn’t keep money fast enough between passages until she took up carving to add to her stories, stories of her childhood adventures embellished for flare and that kept people from asking her too many questions. Taverns and shorelines she'd tell a story as she carved, selling the small pieces to children or those drunk enough to think the trinkets pretty enough to pay for, by the end she was even able to make a few small bead pieces that she'd trade for more wood and work. In the end it was just enough to put the Biqaj into debt getting a new ship.

New ship in hand, Korva moved from the central waters to the waters of the Northern and Eastern coasts, landing her in Scalvoris. With a port to call her own for the time being she finally squished the vague want for Rivan to follow her, only hoping he’d found someone else and wishing she’d left differently. Though her family meets her when they can Korva still has no desire to go back with them, feeling adrift and confused. Unable to satisfy the urge to find what she doesn’t know she’s looking for, Korva is focusing all her efforts on paying off her ship so it will truly be hers and growing her carving skills.
Starter Quest
Word spreads of Korva's stories in her area, the adults are sceptical but the children aren't. Unbeknownst to the carefree Biqaj, a small fan club of neighbourhood children has formed. The leader of this club is a girl named Oceanqua, who aspires to be a swashbuckling adventurer and expert merchant like she believes Korva to be. The girl approaches Korva after a deal gone bad with a local Mer and wishes for Korva to help her get her sisters locket back from this Mer, she seems to think Korva knows 5 different styles of fighting and has impressive Hypnotizing Magic . Will Korva help her biggest fan, come clean about her lies or let the girl solve her own problems.
Cold Cycle 718
The city of Scalvoris was chaotic, Korva met new races and new people, becoming something of a surrogate mother for a young Biqaj named Kes. She's managed to find out she cannot have children and decided to adopt while embroiling herself in a debt to a Mer via her grand adventure tales. She is beginning to make a name for herself for better or worse.

Rebirth Cycle 719
Korva settles into the city, finally adopting a child of her own and finding more thrall children as well as finally have to repay her debts. The Biqaj finds little peace in the season, her name growing along with her desires and drive to rid thralls from ever being made.

Korva never left Scalvoris after Kes disappeared, she spent most of the Cold Cycle looking for him but stayed in the hopes he might return.

A simple sloop, with the beginnings of her carvings on the sides, a simple room below and a deck that could use more scrubbing than Korva gives it. at the moment she keeps it anchored in Scalvoris though there are times when she sleeps farther off the coast, her small sloop a dark shape off shore. Aside from the lack of scrubbing the deck is bare aside from wood shavings and a hammock, not plants or pets to clutter up her space, her small room below a constant unmade bed, clothes shoved into the chest, and a table with clean dishes she rarely uses.

Appearance: Shark like and lithe, her hands are webbed and her head shaved bald though she has deep green hair when she chooses to grow it. Tattoos run along her arms and face, a white ink that makes her dark predator-like eyes stand out even more. Unlike the majority of Mer she chooses to wear chest leather of some kind whenever she is away from home.
Personality: Violent, quick tempered but passionate about water care and keeping peace with the land dwellers. This does not mean she has qualms killing or eating non-aquatic persons, just that she prefers they stay out of Mer affairs by sticking to the lands and in order to keep them busy she agrees with not attacking them willy nilly. An evasive and secretive creature she never reveals her full hand or tells her secrets without reason. Though her language skills leave much to be desired the Mer is intelligent and has much interest in gardening both on land and sea.
