Baya didn’t really think those trades balanced out very well. It would depend on what Baya did as a kindness. But who was she to judge what Faith saw as an equal exchange, it was her bargain. Though it still didn’t seem fair she had to admire the big one. Everything she did was what Baya hoped do potentially do one day. Helping people so easily, being able to help most importantly, being so connected with Moseke. It almost was jealously but she couldn’t be jealous of Faith. It would take too much effort and the big one was just too nice for that to be possible. All the same Baya nodded very seriously and stuck out a hand for Faith to shake, “Is deal.”
And she’d keep the deal, she did wonder if she should report it back to Faith or if that would make it less kind? But how would Faith know she’d done it…Baya shook her head a little, she was making this hard. She’d just do it because it was her word and she was a liar. That was simple. Plus its not like she wouldn’t come again to eat more food. It was delicious!
“Is knowing why Moseke is giving you the hand mark.” Baya said slowly, thoughtfully, mostly to herself when she understood Faiths reasons for wanting to go, “You is like Sev’ryn, you is…” Baya couldn’t think of a word, and let the sentence trail off then started again, “Moseke be happy if Faith is going to Desnind, you is liking there. Much trees and animals and much pretty. Nice here but Desnind is better. You will be liking!”
“Words on pages is…special?” That wasn’t the word she wanted but clearly it was a little important to read by the look of it. She supposed it wouldn’t be that hard to learn enough to get by. Besides it could be fun, the little symbols looks a lot like pictures sometimes. “I is learning. Will go to Order, have teach, am learning, am joining, is good. Am wanting be doctor, Gran is doctor of herbs, like am being!”
She smiled widely at the finality of her decision, just like her companion Baya was happy she’d come in. It wasn’t all what she had thought, just getting some big one food. It had been much better, and it was nice to know Scalvoris was not so bad as Almund and other things had made it seem, earlier in the season.
“Five silver shinys, yes. Is good. Is coming back, is wanting knowing more of Faith. Am liking. Am coming again and get more food, not poisons.” Baya giggled a little at the earlier mix up, and placed the coins on the table. The weren’t very large but for her the seemed like such a heavy strange thing to exchange. Wouldn’t it just be easier to make more prudent exchanges? It would forever confuse her that these were enough value for what people did. She’d found pretty beach stones. Taking one more piece of fruit she glanced at Faith, “Um, is helping go down? No wanting jump."
