Tio
Did Cassion know things about Tio's Immortalhood that Tio didn't? "Yes, of course I do." Cassion replied. But that was all he said.
They didn't have far to go, it seemed, and Tio didn't know enough to recognise that the tunnel he and Cassion headed down was, while ostensibly the one that Yeva, Darius and Oram had come from, it was totally different. Twisting, winding, all very tight spaces and darkness. Cassion didn't seem to be bothered by the darkness, and he seemed to expect Tio to not be either. Should Tio be completely without the ability to see, then - and only then - would Cassion produce a light source. Apparently, from thin air.
They walked for a while and then, Cassion put out his hand. "You see that?" Cassion asked and there, ahead, just at the base of a large boulder, was the swirling blackness which Tio had seen before. "You see that? It's a remnant of Aelig's presence. Something that he's cursed, or somehow given energy to, that's that." Turning to Tio, Cassion spoke in a very matter-of-fact tone. "He's behind this, I'm sure. It has his stench all over it. But, we need to deal with that first"
Quite what he was referring to when he said "that", and nodded to just over Tio's shoulder would quickly become obvious, whether Tio looked behind him or not.
The Diri of Destruction - a creature of shadow crafted from pure destructive force - was high on chaos. Empowered, emboldened, it saw two beings who were beyond it's awareness. Pillars of stability, for such is the nature of Immortals, to be their Domains; inflexible, unchanging. Strong.
And as claws slashed with the intention of ripping Tio's face off, the Diri was obviously trying to do to that stability what it did best.
Destroy.
It still looked like Maxine. There were, in fact, only two differences. One, it was made from shadows and, of course, the other? The other was the red gem which glowed, flames flickering within it, dangling on a chain around it's neck.
