It was so incredibly different than Scalvoris and, for that, she was very grateful. They had been attacked, Cyrus has gone to inform the authorities. Padraig and Faith both had expected Padraig's grandfather to come back with the information that he'd done that - maybe a knight or two. But within the break, nearly a hundred Knights and some more senior staff had arrived. Faith turned to Padraig as they realised that, and she smiled at him slightly. "Alissa will be pleased," she'd told him about the reaction of her bodyguard. Faith was pale, there was no hiding that and she didn't try to. She'd experienced a lot of deaths that night and she was shaking, edgy and nervous. Each and every thrall which had attacked their lands, she had examined, thoroughly and then used her Immortals-granted power to experience their death. Many of them, most of them, didn't help her at all, except to get her more and more riled up. However, there were some thralls which had been made by the woman who had sent them.
And they were invaluable.
Faith looked up, having sent the last of the letters. "Everyone I can think of. I've written to Kura, given her a list of people in Scalvoris. Including the Order, the University, the Elements and the Council too. Viden, Rynmere. Everywhere. Everyone. I wasn't going to, but then.. .we can't fight this alone Padraig. Or we can, but we don't need to. The Faction. Beacon. Lucas. Everywhere. Everyone. I may have gone overboard." She looked at him and the slightest of smiles lifted her lips. "I might have written to a few Immortals. But, you know. That's fine, I'm sure." Or it wasn't, but with Qit dead, Faith was not yet at the point where she could find it in her to care.
So, when he was ready, she took hold of his hand and looked up at him. "I guess the thing to do is go down, speak to them, tell them what we know and what we plan on doing?" When he agreed, she squeezed his hand in hers and together, they made their way downstairs.
Where there were a lot of people. Not all of them, Faith thought, but a lot. More than she was comfortable with. So, she adopted her teacher face and she smiled. It was a tense, terse, half-meant smile but it was the best she could do. "Thank you. From all of us," she said, gesturing around. "Thank you. I suspect it will make it easier for you if we give you the layout of the house, the grounds. Also, the people who are here and their skills. Then, who is going to be going and where."
She breathed in and looked at Padraig. "My husband will tell you about the people here, and the defences. I'm going to concentrate on who won't be here. We won't. Alissa won't. We are going after the person that did this." The young woman who said this was maybe twenty arcs old, but her silver eyes were determined. "So, before we leave, if there are any questions you have which need answering from us specifically, then we are happy to answer them. Also, Cyrus has an Echo Scroll which allows immediate communication. But for us, the most important thing is that.. this is our family. We need to know who you are, who you've brought, and that it will be enough. And," Faith smiled at whoever seemed to be in charge.
"What the standard procedure is for realising that it's not enough. What happens if there's another attack and you can't hold it back?"
