30th Cylus, 717
She was stuck here. It had been three trials and she had admitted to herself that she was stuck here. In truth, Celeste Andaris had known it the trial that she arrived and found out that she had been sold off to Lord Xander Krome. Celeste Krome, is that what she would become? Or would he take her name, as she was first in line and he was not? There were so many questions but the thing which really wasn’t lost on the young noblewoman was that she had accepted it. It was not surprising, of course, she had been born to be married to a man for the gain of the house, but what gain the mighty house of Andaris got from selling her off to a Krome dog she did not know. She had, quite literally, been thrown to the wolves she considered.
Wolves, though, were the prey of the dragon and Celeste Andaris was a dragon; so she had been told from her earliest memories, the silver dragon of Andaris her mother had called her and she would survive. More than that, she would flourish because she would not allow anything other than that to happen. They were going to have a formal dinner this evening and Celeste wanted to look her best; she had requested a maid to help her get ready and a young woman by the name of Anna had been sent.
Celeste had picked out a blue dress which was simple and figure hugging. It had sleeves but a deep neckline and Celeste knew that it looked simple and elegant. Which was, of course, not at all what was fashionable, but Celeste did not care about what others wore, she was a leader, not a follower when it came to fashion. So, she handed Anna the dress and looked at it somewhat critically. ”Do you think it would be best to press it, Anna?” She looked at the young maid with a smile.
“I think so, Lady Andaris. I’ll see to it whilst you’re having a bath, shall I?” The maid and she were of much a similar age, Celeste thought.
”Yes, please Anna. Thank you. Do you normally act as a personal servant?” Celeste asked as she and Anna made their way into where the bath had been drawn.
“Yes, Lady Andaris. For the Baroness.” Celeste nodded and checked that everything she could want was here.
”Thank you, Anna. I’ll take it from here.” The young servant looked surprised, like she had expected Celeste to need or require help getting into the bath, but Celeste had no intention of being in such a position of vulnerability.
Of course, Anna left and so Celeste dropped her robe and lowered herself into the bath with a sigh. She was quite content to stay here and pretend that there was nothing outside the room than warmth and comfort. The scented water lapped against her and the room was warm from the roaring fire in the hearth. Celeste lowered herself down so that only her head was above the water and she lay back and closed her eyes.
