"Sad for me?" she wondered and listened to what Lady Elyna had to say about it. She nodded in understanding and her face lit in a smile "Your baby will be loved, Lady Elyna, no doubting it" but as for her? "Well, I suppose that the way I see it is different. I do not know what else there was, because I have no experience of it. So I have no regrets, because I do not know how things could be different. But I know that I am happy now, and so I have no regrets because of that fact too" she put down the knitting in her hands for a moment, resting her hands one on top of the other "Regret seems like a futile thing to me. Always has. If there is something I do not like about the past, then I can learn from it, or I can work to not repeat it. Or, of course, I can accept it. But I can not change it, so why would I try?" she shrugged slightly and looked back down at the small hat, growing quickly, her hands moving back to their task. "Or so I have always believed. I think perhaps it is easier to accept my lack of power to change the past because I lack the same to make choices in the present" she explained with a smile.

Looking at the hem of the dress that Lady Elyna had made, Faith raised an eye and asked, in her usual soft voice, if she could see. "It is beautiful. Love in every stitch" she smiled. But the conversation they were having was about something, and something else too.

"When Jamal owned me, he was cruel. That was simply how it was and it was what I knew. It was my place. Master tells me that I am a treasure, he cares about me. I have a friend" she said and she smiled at the woman who held the title. "It is terrifying to me" she admitted, but her expression told that it was a good terror. "By caring about you, about Master, then I give you permission to hurt me in a way that Jamal simply could not. But I do it trusting that you will not. For every training technique" she avoided the word torture, thinking that Lady Elyna would not like it "I have been subjected to, I know that being let down by someone who I had let into my heart would hurt more. But the only thing I can consider is that the kind of pain one feels when someone you love hurts you must be like a brand." she motioned to the Venora rose on her shoulder. "While it happens, it hurts so it is all you can feel. Then, over time, it fades. But it leaves a mark that never goes" she shrugged and shook her head. Possibly a flight of her own fancy, she considered, who knew? Holding the hat up she showed Lady Elyna where she was. "I start to decrease now, and as I do it will pull closer and closer together until it is hat shaped. Or at least, that is the plan. Where will you have the baby, Lady Elyna?" she asked, concerned that she would be out here alone.

That seemed like a bad idea to Faith but she said nothing until she heard what Lady Elyna planned.

The Skyrider listened to the woman’s thoughts. She set the sewing down and took up her tea. A small sip was enough to sooth the impatient babe within. “I think…” she pondered her own words carefully, eager not to cause offence but still willing to try and express herself, “that it takes a great deal of strength to step away from the past without regret. It’s not something that I do very well,” she admitted. The last words said to Yoreth had haunted her for arcs. Regret had dictated her life and still shamed her. Was there anything she could have done differently in Marcus’s grip? What she wouldn’t give to take back the kiss bestowed on Vakhanor. “I suppose, that sometimes it just…follows you around like a rain cloud,” she lifted a hand above her head as though to bat the imaginary cloud away. “So no matter if you don’t want to think about it, or you know you can’t change it -it’s still there.
It was hard to hear Faith speak about Jamal. Hard to be reminded that she was not a free person or necessarily here of her own free choice, but because she was a Slave and she would go and do what she was ordered. The thought somewhat mitigated by Faith’s expression of friendship, one that saw the Skyrider smile for a moment. “You are a treasure, Faith.”
The next words from the dark-haired girl caused the Captain to pause. Her eyes felt heavy with heat and hidden tears and she looked down. A brand. Yes, well that is what it felt like. Something that was fading with time but would never truly leave her. She gathered herself and pulled her thoughts back to the present. Looking up she started at the neat knitting. It still made no sense to her. She blinked, struggling to focus on the lines. “I’ll have the baby at the city,” she explained, able to find her tongue again, “I think I’d like to be at home- with my parents when it happens…just incase.”
She took another sip of the cooling drink, “I became a Skyrider because I wanted to do something and help people; everyone. Whether they’re slaves or nobles or anyone else. I don’t like when people are hurt or injured. I don’t like injustice. Nothing, should give anyone person power or the right to hurt another Faith. Nothing. I’m sure the Immortals would agree if they were listening.” Or some of them at least.
