[Rharne] NPC List

The Council
Current Council Members:

Vig'tyrn Urien

Image
Race: Human
DoB: 13th of Zi'da, 679
Title: Commander, City Guard (Lightning Knights)
Blessing: Palenon (Exalted)
Skills: Endurance (63), Leadership (82), Persuasion (55), Shield Combat (78), Weapon[War Hammer] (88), Strength (85), Unarmed Combat (100)
Languages: Common (Fluent), Rakahi (Fluent), Xanthea (Fluent), Umaya (Conversational), Dehasin (Converstational), Vauni (Broken), Lorien (Broken)

Vig'tyrn is a tall and powerful man. Often thought to look extremely intimidating at first glance, the man is in fact a extremely pleasant and easy to get along with.

An escaped slave from Athart, Vig'tyrn made his way to Rharne when he was little older than twelve arcs old. Growing up on the streets most of his younger years were spent in the Dust and Earth Quarters fighting for what little he could earn and keep. When he was sixteen, Vigs caught the eye of a Lightning Knight Captain and was offered a chance to better himself and the city. Vigs accepted though he was skeptical of the Knight at first. As the arcs passed Vigs grew, as did his loyalty to the city and her patron Immortal, Ilaren.

By the time he was knighted at age eighteen Vig'tyrn's resolve was set, and he choose to join the City Guard, vowing to protect Rharne and her people from any threat that may threaten them. As the years passed, Vigs held strong to his vow and was a shining example of a Lightning Knight. When Vig'tyrn was promoted to Captain he was also asked to act as Liaison to a Thunder Priestess of the Healers Branch, Sister Amara Ingram. As the years passed, the two worked together on many assignments, both within and outside of Rharne.

By age 35, Vig'tyrn became a Commander, making him one of the youngest in the cities history. Many on The Council like him because he is honest, fair, and loyal to Rharne and her people. Though the Trade Master and Vigs have bumped heads on occasion over the way the Merchant's Guild does business, nothing more than firm words have ever been exchanged.

Thalia Karvilius

Image
Race: Human
DoB: 27th of Ymiden, 674
Title: Matriarch (Thunder Priestesses)
Blessing: Palenon (Exalted)
Skills: Leadership: 90, Unarmed Combat: 85, Weapon (Short Sword): 80, Intelligence: 76, Tactics: 70, Deception: 67, Intimidation: 52, Socialization: 43

When Thalia Karvilius enters a room, she does so with power and purpose. Nothing about the matriarch of the Thunder Priestesses is quiet or withdrawn – least of all her height, which allows her to stand at a commanding 6’2”. She is easily spotted in a crowd and demands to be taken seriously, though this rarely needs to be said aloud. She walks with a confidence that, to some, borders on arrogance, and looks everyone she talks to directly in the eyes as if to ensure that there cannot be any misunderstanding or miscommunication. Though her face is lined with signs of age and experience, her shoulder-length auburn hair is healthy and well-kempt, and her incisive brown eyes are always alert, even during exhaustion.

Thalia is often viewed as a loud, decisive, and impatient leader. She is a straight shooter and is not afraid to say exactly what's on her mind. But beneath her abrasive surface, she cares deeply about Ilaren, her faction, and the people of Rharne. She was raised in the city by a family that notably has a long line of Thunder Priestesses in its past, which meant that nobody was surprised when she declared her own interest in joining the faction. Though some see her rise to matriarch as nepotism, given her family’s history, no one can argue that she did not work hard to earn her position - first as a Priestess in the Warrior Branch and later as the faction's leader. To this day, she continues to work long, gruelling hours and sees it as her mission to support Ilaren’s goals and keep Rharne safe at any cost. This can sometimes lead to morally questionable decisions, but a sharp look tends to shut down any opposition – at least, it has so far…

Nathaniel Dubois

Image
Race: Biqaj
DoB: 5th of Vhalar, 686
Title: The Voice
Skills: Politics: 65, Rhetoric: 57, Socialization: 53, Negotiation: 45, Persuasion: 40, Design (City Planning): 35, Business Management: 30

Nathaniel Dubois is a tall, blonde man who is considered something of an “up-and-comer” in Rharne’s political arena. He’s a smart dresser, quick talker, and has a near-unwavering smirk plastered across his face at all times. As the son of one of Rharne’s most prominent merchant families, Nathaniel has had his hands in political pockets ever since his father brought him to his first business negotiation at age thirteen. He was raised to believe that he was meant for big, important things and has carried that message as his mantle throughout his adult years.

Incapable of fighting outside a tavern and uninterested in taking over his family’s business, Nathaniel began angling for the position of the Voice the moment he was eligible. His abilities to both network and hold his liquor were put to good use as he attended every party and festival and function he could get an invite to, and made every effort to make his face recognizable within the Earth, Glass, and Sky Quarters. When it finally came time to run for the coveted role on the Council, Nathaniel ran on the platform of tourism and trade. Using his family’s background and his arcs of socializing as leverage, he was able to convince the Rharne population to elect him in Ashan 718 to represent their interests: namely, the creation of even more holidays and festivals. This would, allegedly, drive tourism into the city and ultimately make Rharne an even more desirable location to trade.

Nathaniel’s platform may seem harmless but, as with all politicians who ascend to power, he has somewhat more unscrupulous motives hidden behind his green eyes. His ultimate goal is to see Rharne’s Dust Quarter razed, as he (and others like him who live comfortably in the Glass Quarter) believes it to be unsightly and off-putting – not to mention a gigantic waste of nel when those who live there require Council assistance. His strategy involves slow expansion and gentrification of the area until the residents are entirely displaced - though whether his plans come to fruition during his arc as the Voice still remains to be seen…

Ilaren

Image
Race: Immortal
Title: High General (Lightning Knights)

Ilaren may be the Immortal of Lightning, Sound, Brawling, and Alcohol, but to the mortals of Rharne she is also seen as their High General, the fifth member of the Council, and the reason Rharne exists in the first place. She is worshipped and beloved throughout the city, though her outgoing attitude can sometimes make it difficult to distinguish her from a regular Rharnian when she chooses not to reveal her true nature. When she appears before the Council or with any of her followers, she tends to be hyperactive, loud, friendly, brash, and boisterous - and that's when she's sober. Alcohol only fuels her energy. In battle, however, she's a fierce but intelligent fighter, using both her power over lightning and sound with alarming effectiveness, as well as just sheer skill in fighting with her bare hands.

Though she is considered the highest ranking member of the Lightning Knights, Ilaren tends to leave the running of the faction to her Commanders and their officers. That’s not to say she never steps into the role of General, though she only ever takes to the battle field if another Immortal has already joined the fight. She also acts as a tiebreaker for the Council as required, though prefers to stay uninvolved and keep her focus on problems of the Immortal kind.

Moderator's Note: Ilaren is an Immortal and can only be RPed by a Prophet.

Thunder Priestesses

Thalia Karvilius

Image
Race: Human
DoB: 27th of Ymiden, 674
Title: Matriarch (Formerly the Brawler Branch)
Blessing: Palenon (Exalted)
Skills: Leadership: 90, Unarmed Combat: 85, Weapon (Short Sword): 80, Intelligence: 76, Tactics: 70, Deception: 67, Intimidation: 52, Socialization: 43

When Thalia Karvilius enters a room, she does so with power and purpose. Drina Louarn

Image
Race: Sev'ryn/Human
DoB: 10th of Vhalar, 676
Title: Reverend Mother (Chanter Branch)
Blessing: Palenon (Adored)
Skills: Socialization: 86, Meditation: 84, Unarmed Combat: 76, Leadership: 71, Teaching: 67, Tactics: 54, Storytelling: 42, Brewing: 38

Drina Louarn was raised in the small town of Alnerwick, which sits halfway between the city of Rharne and the Orm’del Sea alongside the River Zynyx. Many arcs ago, her sev'ryn father immigrated to the area from Desnind. He found the city proper too busy and odorous for his liking, and so he soon travelled away from the city of Rharne and into the Stormlands with the hope of finding somewhere more peaceful to settle down. It was in Alnerwick where he met Drina’s mother, whose family had lived in the town for generations and owned a large brewery. Though it was far from love at first sight, the pair kept running into one another and eventually became close friends – and, later, lovers. Drina took from the two of them some of her personality – the patience, stoicism, and courage that allowed her to enter the Thunder Priestess faction – and learned the rest – the shrewdness and ambition that helped her ascend its ranks – on her own.

Drina is a petite woman with an unexpectedly quiet presence. She is a mere 5’3” with short black hair and serious brown eyes that can stun someone into silence. It is not difficult to tell at a glance that she is someone who takes life seriously. She rarely smiles and has occasionally been called cold and unkind by those who do not know her well or who have found themselves falling out of her favour. That said, Drina is considered the most patient of the Head Priestesses. Her door is always open to novitiates and priestesses who need her help, and she has mentored many a Cleric who remember her as being compassionate towards their needs. Still, it would be a mistake to misunderstand her patience and compassion for complacency. Drina is by far the most calculating Head Priestess and harbours dreams of becoming the next Matriarch. Every move she has made within the faction has been with the goal of one day becoming its leader and, if she had her way, that day would come sooner rather than later.

Amara Ingram

Image
Race: Human
DoB: 47th of Ymiden, 683
Title: Reverend Mother (Brewer branch)
Blessing: Palenon (Adored)
Skills: Medicine: 85, Socialization: 83, Unarmed Combat: 77, Caregiving: 72, Resistance: 65, Leadership: 60, Endurance: 43, Teaching: 35

Amara was born to a Dust Quarter prostitute, though soon after her birth her mother gave her away to an Earth Quarter couple who could not conceive. The couple ran one of the apothecary shops in the Earth Quarter and as he grew Amara began to help her parents around the shop.

When Amara was little more than twelve arcs old, she could already make all of the remedies that her families shop sold. Apparent to her parents that Amara was special, they asked that a clinic in the Glass Quarter take her on as an apprentice. The owner of the clinic was hesitant at first, but after seeing the young girl work, agreed. While she apprenticed in the clinic not only did she learn about Medicines, but also about the body and how to help mend it.

After five arcs with the clinic, she left her apprenticeship and became a Novitiate with the Thunder Priestesses hoping to once again further her knowledge in the arts of healing. When she finally became a Priestess, she left Rharne and traveled to Desnind where she studied with those who followed the teachings of Moseke. After two arcs had passed, Amara returned to Rharne, a member of the Order of Adunih.

Though when she returned, she was greeted with somber news. While she had been out of the city, her adoptive mother had passed away to an unknown disease. Extremely saddened at the loss of her mother, and blaming herself for not being there to help, Amara threw herself into her work and studies. As the arcs passed, Amara's knowledge of both Medicine and Surgery grew, and with them her rank within the Priestesses. Eventually there was no denying Amara as the most capable Healer among the Priestesses.

Jordyn Nji'toraj

Image
Race: Biqaj
DoB: 83rd of Ashan, 679
Title: Reverend Mother (Roamer branch)
Blessing: Palenon (Adored)
Skills: Politics: 85, Socialization: 81, Unarmed Combat: 76, Intelligence: 68, Leadership: 63, Storytelling: 60, Writing: 52, Seafaring: 45

It is said that Jordyn Nji'toraj’s presence is so big that it will one day overshadow the mountain itself. Much to the chagrin of the other branches, it is also said that in a popularity contest, Jordyn would easily take the prize as the friendliest and most well-liked Head Priestess. She is warm, gregarious, and enjoys nothing as much as a good party. In fact, her personality suits Rharne so well that those who meet her never guess that she wasn’t born and raised in the city. Instead, Jordyn was born on a ship in the middle of the Orm’del Sea and spent her childhood travelling from port to port with her nomadic biqaj family. Her experience and knowledge of other cities and cultures is wide and varied, and it was one of the reasons – along with her love affair with rum – that Ilaren sought her out and marked her. She is the only Head Priestess to have been explicitly recruited by Ilaren to join the Thunder Priestess faction and, while she would never brag about this in the presence of the others, she considers this fact a point of pride.

Jordyn’s appearance, like her personality, is also pleasant. She stands at 5’7” with long, wavy black hair and dark brown eyes. Her attire tends to shift with the culture, depending on the city she’s in, but she usually accessorizes like a crow’s nest regardless of location: all beads and feathers and jewels. But while the Head Priestess of the Emissary branch may be likable, it is that very likability that makes her a force to be reckoned with. Jordyn has a way of gaining trust, loosening tongues, and lowering the defenses of her conversation partners in order to obtain information that they might not otherwise share. She has a voice like honey, eyes like an eagle, and a memory like a safe. Only the most foolish observer would take her agreeability for weakness.

Alia Nevrakis

Image
Name:Alia Nevrakis
Race: Human
DoB: 11th Trial of Vhalar, Arc 692
Blessing: Palenon (Adored)
Title: Reverend Mother (Brawler Branch)
Skills: Unarmed Combat–55, Blades: Daggers–45, Intelligence–30, Stealth–30, Investigation–25, Tactics–25, Deception–20
Alia Nevrakis is a beautiful young woman with a kind face. A smile can often be found lighting up her face. She stands taller than most women and possess an athletic frame. From appearance alone, no one would have expected that she is a trained agent of Ilaren, willing to do anything for the immortal. As to keep her identity mostly hidden, Alia is rarely seen wearing her priestess garb other than when attending formal occasions, favoring non-descript armor and dresses instead.

Born as a prostitute’s daughter, it seemed that there had not been many choices in Alia’s life. She was raised by a mother far too young to bear such a responsibility and never knew about her father. Unpopular among customers, her mother often vented her anger by beating her or starving her. As soon as she was old enough, it was no surprise that Alia was immediately employed in the brothel, despite her reluctance. It was the only she knew and she did not know where else to go. She was miserable, but knew she would not survive on the streets on her own

After a particularly harsh treatment by a customer, Alia was determined to escape. She would rather die than continue living like this. Despite the injuries she suffered, she snuck out one cold night. Days passed and starvation became a problem. Alia would have died had a priestess found her and gave her food. The older woman offered recruitment into the Thunder Priestesses and she readily agreed.

Seeing the priestesses as her saviors, the young woman swiftly became devoted to her mentor and their order. Alongside with her utter belief for the immortal Ilaren, the woman also prove to be particularly gifted spy. No one expected much from the former courtesan, but she quickly became one of their best recruits. Soon, she graduated as a Priestess and set to do her duties immediately.

As a sister, Alia was well-respected and cherished. She was kind with her fellow priestesses, but ruthless and effective when it came to her missions. It was no surprise that she was constantly sent to infiltrate various cities and gather information.

No one expected her to suddenly requesting to become a mentor – after all, it was such a waste for someone like her to spend her time training novitiates. But Alia was insistent and so a young girl, Lynessa Deveri, was assigned to her. As she did everything for the order, the woman trained Lynessa hard and properly, making sure that the girl was worthy of serving Ilaren. After her novitiate graduated, Alia swiftly went back to her old routine, tackling mission after mission. Still, occasionally she would find the time to check on her former student.

Nadja Ki'oriq

Image
Race: Biqaj/Human
DoB: 103rd of Ashan, 673
Blessing: Palenon (Favoured)
Title: High Cleric (Chanter branch)
Skills: Unarmed Combat: 65, Socialization: 60, Meditation: 55, Teaching: 45, Leadership: 43, Storytelling: 30

Nadja stands at 5'8", with long black hair and an athletic frame. As a woman of mixed race, she has retained the pointed ears and changing eyes of a biqaj along with the red blood of a human. In the prayer chamber, she always wears the dark purple robes of the Thunder Priestesses, along with two silver chain-linked bracelets on her left wrist to represent her rank.

Nadja looks after the Lightning Cathedral's prayer chamber during the day, typically from the 8th - 16th break. She is usually the first face that visitors see and is most often found tidying the pews, giving sermons, and providing tours of the chamber. She is a cheerful woman who greets everyone she meets with a smile and a loud introduction that echoes throughout the room. In fact, she is startlingly loud for someone who looks after a prayer space, which can be a positive when she is giving a sermon and a negative when she is interrupting someone's private meditation. But despite this quirk, she is kind and well-liked by most, and is considered a fountain of wisdom by both visitors and peers.

When she is not working, Nadja can be found chatting with tourists near Rharne's docks, training in unarmed combat in the Lightning Cathedral, or mentoring Novitiates and Priestesses.

Quinn Talbot

Image
Race: Human
DoB: 9th of Vhalar, 692
Blessing: N/A
Title: Cleric (Chanter branch)
Skills: Unarmed Combat: 45, Meditation: 40, Art: 37, Socialization: 30, Psychology: 23, Leadership: 20

Quinn is a small woman. She stands at 5'2" and has big hair and a thin frame. When on duty, she always wears the dark purple robes of the Thunder Priestesses, paired with the symbolic silver chain-linked bracelet on her left wrist and a statement necklace or earrings.

Quinn takes over from Nadja during the evening and looks after the Cathedral's prayer chamber from the 16th break to the 8th break. She is soft-spoken woman, though has an unexpected stubborn streak. Should someone ask her to do something she does not wish to do, she has a tendency to dig in her heels in quiet protest. She was originally assigned to the night shift at the prayer chamber when she disobeyed her superior as a newly initiated Priestess, but quickly took to the hours and found she enjoyed the experience. She has since become a night owl and often speaks about how the night inspires ideas and creativity, particularly in her paintings. When the prayer chamber is not busy, particularly in the early hours of the morning, Quinn can be found painting at her easel near one of the room's many windows.

When she is not working, Quinn is a frequent visitor at the Blackwood Bar (rumoured to be because of her fondness for its owner). She can also be found training in the Lightning Cathedral, mentoring Novitiates, and, of course, catching up on much needed sleep.

Dathan Syrilth

Image
Race: Biqaj
DoB: 7th Ashan, 659
Title: Commander, Navy
Title: Palenon (Adored),
Skills: Swimming (33), Endurance (52), Leadership (85), Seafaring (82), Tactics (95), Navigation (77), Weapon-Short Spear (83), Unarmed Combat (62)

Dathan was born to a wealthy merchant family in the Glass Quarter. In his early childhood, he spent much of his time in school, learning about business and trade and was groomed to eventually take over his family's merchant business when he came of age. When he was a young adult, one of his family's vessels was attacked, by pirates on the Zynyx River, and the crew was slain to a man. Outrage at the attack, Dathan joined a group of mercenaries in the tracking and capturing of the group. The mercenaries eventually found them, but were overwhelmed and were forced to flee many dying in the attempt.

Soon after the Naval sect of the Lightning Knights stepped in. Though hard fought, the Knights were eventually able to bring most of the pirates to justice. Watching the Knights, march the pirates into Rharne, Dathan's mind and heart became set on joining them some day. Dathan stepped down as the heir to his family's company and let his younger brother have the roll, and then joined the Lightning Knights as a Squire.

Years passed and Dathan's quick mind, and unyielding resolve for the law saw him rise through the ranks. Nowadays, though he is one of the oldest knights still in the ranks, he is also the best tactician the Knights have. Able to plan for most outcomes, and capable of running operations on multiple fronts at once has made him a fearsome leader. Though sometime gruff, and a bit short tempered, most of those under his command have nothing but high regards and a deep founded respect for the man.

Thecla Derocles

Image
FC:Gaia Weiss
Name: Thecla Derocles
Race: Human-Eidisi Mixed Race
DoB: Ashan 54th 691
Title: Lightning Knight: General; Former Thunder Priestess
Marks: Adored Palenon
Skills: Leadership: 65, Socialization: 80, Linguistics: 30, Tactics: 80, Combat: Siege Weaponry: 56, Combat: Ranged: 76, Logistics: 60, Engineering: 65, Science: 55
Languages: Common (Fluent), Scalveen (Fluent), Gernevoir (Fluent), Vorkelien (Conversational), Dehasin (Converstational), Widenese (Broken), Rakahi (Broken)

Description: The daughter of a human bootlegger and Videnese eidisi noblewoman, her upbringing was bound to be anything but typical. The Eidisi noblewoman absconded with her lover, the human smuggler, after he committed to a charm offensive to win her over. Her parents had ties to the Intelligence authority, and sent their assets within that apparatus to fetch her back. However, her father was clever at hiding while on the move, and was able to keep their passage from Viden's territory secret.

Having escaped Viden, and won their freedom, they elected to move to Rharne. However her mother eventually returned to Rharne after she was born. Knowing that her child wouldn't likely be accepted by her family, she left her behind with the father, who raised her as best he could.

And Thecla grew up to be a prodigious member of Rharnean society. She joined the Thunder Priestesses at an early age, and was raised within their order. She left them sometime before the reforms that allowed males to enter into the priesthood, and joined the Lightning Knights, longing for more action than the Thunder Priesthood was affording her. Her ascension through the ranks was nothing short of meteoric, as she was a quick study at war, and already had much knowledge of engineering and science that made her an asset at fortification of the Rharne lands during the crises that occurred in Rharne, from the War of Death and Souls, to the Siege of Storm's Edge.

She played a low-key role in these conflicts, shoring up the defenses of the city with her knowledge of structural defense. But her service was not unnoticed by the leadership, and she was set to become the Castellan for the Sky Keep. She would've remained so, until the keep was devastated by meteoric fire during the Hyludin introduction to Rharne. She was demoted from Commander for that failure and breach in security, and thus made General.

Urien still has faith in her, however, and is using her as a special liaison to foreign governments during the current period from 725 Rebirth onward.

Xander Ahas

Race: Lotharro
DoB: Cylus 1, 668
Title: Lightning Knight: Lieutenant
Skills: Endurance: Expert (76)
Strength: Competent (50)
Unarmed: Competent (40)
Greatsword: Competent (50)
Shield: Novice (10)
Linguistics: Novice (10)
Leadership: Novice (15)

Description: 6'5", 224lb, This man is a large imposing figure, scars covering most of his face and he rarely smiles. Xander is quite an accomplished warrior by the looks of the myriad of scars along his face and body. He has short black hair and a short beard, both cut cleanly and evenly, and his eyes are a shining yellow and his mouth seems to be in a perpetual scowl, always showing his pointed fangs. That is until he gets drinking, he rarely gets drunk in public places but if the few people he's friends with ask him to join in a drink, he never refuses and he is usually the life of the party in most cases.

He is a follower and protector of the city Rharne and the people in it, being born and raised here by a single mother and never meeting his father, he found to defend and protect to be his calling, and as soon as he was able, he joined the knights as a squire. The only problem was that the Lotharrian blood inside him saw how the people acted in Rharne, partying and working but always separated, rarely working together for the betterment of the city, so he took a stance of defiance, he is strong and loves the people of Rharne but he does not tolerate slackers or anyone who's not pulling their weight.

Xithyria

Name Corporal Xithyria Manrantha Remnate Videx
Race: Ithecal (Thiussum)
DoB: 26th Vhalar, 682
Title: None
Skills: Strength 60, Endurance 60, Shield 50, Blades: Greatsword 50, Tactics 40, Abrogation 35
Marks: None

Xithyria is a Guardian for the Lightning Knights and sees his duty as the highest calling any mortal can be given. Utterly, fanatically devoted to the code of the Lightning Knights and stalwart in his protective services to the city, his strict adherence to protocol and duty is both his greatest asset and biggest weakness. Though many find his perpetually stony expression and cold, hard words affronting and abrasive, he has been known to impart a hidden great wisdom and a caring heart in dire circumstances, and looks after both the members of the city and his fellow Lightning Knights with a paternal hand. His identity as a mage is something officially recorded and recognised but he chooses to keep it mostly to himself, never discussing or using it in public until it is absolutely necessary, or when facing down a fellow mage.

Valdyr

Name Stalwart Valdayr Rangarian
Race: Avriel
DoB: 19th Cylus, 691
Title: None
Skills: Flying 60, Polearms: Glaive 50, Ranged Combat: Longbow 50, Fieldcraft 50, Detection 40
Marks: Favoured Palenon.

Valdayr, or Vald as he prefers to be called, is a lazy, arrogant drunk. A complete party animal and many would say a slave to his base Avriel desires, he would prefer to call himself an accomplished hedonist, most often relying on his peers to complete his work and never appearing without a wineskin somewhere on his body. However, he is also extremely sociable and open, completely unapologetic and at home in any situation, including those dire; his positive attitude and famous grin are something to brighten even the cloudiest of days. The only thing that he cannot stand, and possibly enough to bring him out of his perpetual drunken revelries, are insults to Ilaren, whom he reveres like a mother.

Trade Master

Name Daphne Lightsong
Race: Human / Biqaj
DoB: 15th Ymiden 688
Title: Trade Master, Rharne
Skills: Business Management (Master), Negotiation (Master), Leadership (Expert), Logistics (Expert), Cosmetology (Expert), Politics (Competent). Others: To be revealed at Prophet discretion.

More than one person has fallen foul of Daphne's beautiful face and youthful good looks. She is as shrewd a Trade Master as Rharne has seen for a lot of Arcs. She is a devoted servant of Ilaren, and a diligent and meticulous individual. There is no doubt that she has had to work incredibly hard to reach where she is, but she has been good for the Merchants' Guild of Rharne. She is politically savvy and is aware that she has popular opinion on her side. With a tendency to hoard power and court popularity, she would be a very difficult person to overthrow and that is just the way she likes it.

Varne Locklear

DoB: 12th Ashan 689
Title: Merchants Guild Member (Diamond Rank), Rharne
Skills: Business Management (Expert),Negotiation (Expert), Leadership (Competent), Logistics (Competent). Others: To be revealed at Prophet discretion.

Varne is a serious individual who is focused almost entirely on personal gain. He is a shrewd businessman with a quick mind but his tendency to look only at his own needs and situation means that he is unlikely ever to rise to be the Trade Master. Which is, as far as he is concerned, a shame as he'd really like to be in that job. Varne does his best to build up alliances and he has a lot of friends on the surface, but they'd be gone in a heartbeat if things ever got bad - as he would, if things turned sour for them. In the Merchants' Guild, he will usually try and cherry pick the most promising new Wood Rank members, in the hope that some of their sheen will rub off on him and he can take the credit for their success. If they fail? He drops them like a hot rock.

Title: Merchants Guild Member (Diamond Rank), Rharne
Skills: Business Management (Expert),Negotiation (Expert), Seduction (Expert), Caregiving (Expert), Leadership (Competent), Logistics (Competent). Others: To be revealed at Prophet discretion.

Chip is, frankly, chipper. He is a friendly and gregarious individual who goes out of his way to make people feel comfortable and content. With an easy smile and a charm about him it is not a surprise that his private massage business has been so very successful. In business terms, Chip is focused on the client or customer having the best experience and therefore, telling others and returning. In the Merchants' Guild, Chip will vote for those things which benefit Rharne the most. He is a pragmatic man and is not out to change the world, but the bottom line is that happy people spend more and, most importantly, happy people spend more on getting a good massage. Chip is very much a living embodiment of the Rharnian approach to marriage and fidelity - his wife and he have a very open relationship and host some interesting parties if you weren't expecting it.

Title: Merchants Guild Member (Diamond Rank), Rharne
Skills: Business Management (Expert),Negotiation (Expert), Meditation (Expert), Gambling (Expert), Leadership (Competent), Logistics (Competent). Others: To be revealed at Prophet discretion.

Kitt is the owner and proprietor of a very successful casino in Rharne - this gambling hall is one where people are always clear that all is fair. Anyone found cheating is dealt with swiftly and harshly, so cheating is minimal. Kitt herself is a serene and calm individual who has a keen eye for detail and the ability to make money out of almost anything. She absolutely loathes Chip and he seems to delight in teasing her. In terms of the Merchants' Guild, Kitt is focused on profit and she tries to maintain the bigger picture of making sure that the merchants of Rharne are well looked after.

Incapable of fighting and uninterested in taking over his family’s business, Nathaniel began angling for the position of the Voice the moment he was eligible.

Franoccio Solos

Image
Race: Human
DoB: 20th of Cylus, 656
Title: Business Owner, Merchant, Former Lightning Knight Cavalry
Skills: Polearm: 68, Longsword: 63, Business Management: 61, Mount (Horse): 54, Tactics: 52, Unarmed Combat: 35, Endurance: 22

The Solos family follows a long tradition of serving in the Lightning Knight's cavalry, its lineage traced back to the founding of Rharne. Franoccio was no exception. Serving as a squire since age 12, his life has been devoted to the protection of Rharne's territories and in the service of Ilaren. After a long and successful career, Franoccio's son followed in his footsteps and the man retired. His accomplishments as a soldier followed him in his various business ventures, where he has expanded his family's fortune even more so. He has a large manor in the Sky Quarter along with three wives, and spends the day tending to business and enjoying his retirement.

Despite his soldier's mentality, Franoccio is a very approachable man. He is quick to laugh, does not hide behind his luxuries, and is, overall, an extremely friendly individual. The biggest flaw one could find in Franoccio would be his love for gambling, especially given how bad he is at it. Thankfully, he has enough moderation to only bet a few coins at a time.

Lat'ora

Name Lat'ora
Race: Sev'ryn
DoB: Saun 1, 668
Title: Melrathi Assassin
Skills: Moderator's Discretion (mod use only)

Very little is known about Lat'ora's life. What is known for sure is that she came to Desnind pregnant in 693, giving birth to her first daughter Qit'ria. She was married to the father, a member of the Order of Adunih named Fleck'ack. The pair settled down in Desnind, having three more daughters and a son after Qit'ria. But in Saun, 679, tragedy struck the Sev'ryn family. While Lat'ora was on a hunt of her own, her 11 arc old daughter Qit'ria decided to take her three younger sisters on a hunt of her own. The hunt went well, and while the girls made camp, bandits arrived. Qit'ria managed to escape and hide, but her sisters were slaughtered.

With that, Qit'ria left Desnind without a word, on a self exile. Lat'ora had other plans. She was able to track the bandits who'd killed her daughters and she slaughtered them all. Then she too left Desnind, hunting bandits of all sorts across Idalos. On Saun 40, 717, she returned to Desnind, to find her daughter Qit'ria was a mother of her own now, and a mage. Lat'ora had intended to help her daughter with her magic, just as she'd helped her husband with his own, but the Mantis of Rynmere arrived and spirited the man away, and indicating that Lat'ora was a part of them as well. She disappeared after them, and has not been seen since.

Etzori Delegation Security
These NPCs were given to Kasoria as underlings for the purpose of securing the Etzori Delegation to Rharne, as part of a plot. They are now his personal npcs, awarded in the following thread here
RAAND
Image
Name: Raand
Race: Human
DoB: 677
Faction: n/a
Languages Spoken: Common (Fluent)

Combat (Blades, One-Handed - Falchion) - Expert
Combat (Blades, One-Handed - Dirk) - Competent
Unarmed Combat (Ki'Enaq) - Competent
Intimidation - Novice
Cooking - Novice
Socialization - Novice

Appearance: Despite standing a solid six feet with broad shoulders and a shaven head, the most noticeable thing about Raand is his missing left ear. It was sheared off in a bar brawl arcs ago, and he never bothers to cover it. Now sporting flecks of grey in his dark beard, Raand is starting to look every arc of his age, face hard and wrinkled aside from his shiny bald dome. He usually favors muted colors in dress and some sort of cloak, both to ward himself from the elements, and hide his weapons.

Description: One of the few people who could legitimately call Kasoria a "friend", Raand has much in common with the Raggedy Man. An Etzori born and bred, Raand skirted the edges of the Oh'Pee's underworld, never delving into it as wholly as Kasoria did. He found out early that his size and nerve gave him an edge in combat, but preferred to use his skills as a bounty hunter and caravan guard. Better money, better hours, and more time with his daughter, especially after his wife died. Then came the invasion of Lisirra and her monsters... and plagues. Miranda died to one of them, and like Kasoria arcs before, Raand's whole world became one devoted to revenge and rage against the Immortals. One of them, at least. He marched with the Etzori Army to Rhakros, part of the "Irregulars", a ragtag battalion of mostly Oh'Pee gangers, convicts, and sellswords. There he rekindled his tentative friendship with Kasoria, and met the other members of The Band. He survived the siege, and the machinations of Sintra that unfolded an arc later. Now an ardent enemy of the Immortals and their human slaves, he'd also forged a reputation as a stoic and ruthless soldier, skilled either holding steel or unarmed.

VAUL
Image
Name: Vaul
Race: Human
DoB: 683
Faction: n/a
Languages Spoken: Common (Fluent)

Combat (Axes and Bludgeons, One-Handed - Hatchet) - Expert
Combat (Axes and Bludgeons, One-Handed - Mace) - Competent
Intimidation - Competent
Cooking - Novice
Torture - Novice
Stealth - Novice

Appearance: "Bad bloody news", is how any would likely describe Vaul upon seeing him. With the six-pointed ganger brand burned onto his right cheek, the hatchet and mace forever at his hips, and a general physical attitude somewhere between a rodent and a serpent, Vaul seems to exemplify the dictionary definition of "Oh'Pee ganger trash". Which he'd probably agree with (except for the trash part). His penchant for dark clothing and cloaked hoods probably doesn't help. A look under the clothes would reveal worse, for different reasons: angry, puckered, barely-healed scar tissue across the left side of his body, from nipple to knee; the ruinous proof of army surgeons burning a necrotic plague from his body.

Description: Vaul was always destined to be a ganger. He was poor, and his parents wanted him to be a good boy, stay legitimate, get a job, all that stuff. But he'd seen how pointless and painful that had been for them, and the young boy swore never to waste his life in such a manner. He deserved better, and so did they. With that goal in mind, he'd started running with Oh'Pee gangs since he was an adolescent, getting branded when he barely fourteen arcs old. As much a statement of intent as an initiation, saying to the world "this is what I am, forever, and I am not ashamed of it". Even after he got caught, even after his parents disowned him, that was what he remained. When Lisirra invaded Etzos, he was paroled from prison to fight her hordes... and promptly deserted. But when he ran home to find his parents and flee with them, he found only cold, plague-ridden corpses. Broken and enraged beyond words, the deserter turned on his heel and started slaughtering anything with even tangential connection to Lisirra. After Rhakros was razed, he came home, and did the same to Sintraists when that Immortal tried to usurp the city. After that he started working for the Etzori Army as a sellsword, working for contract against the Morty-loving holdouts in isolated parts of Etzos' chaotic territories. But he's maintained contact with his comrades from the Irregulars, men like him who thought themselves righteous while never being legal, and now his old Highmark Kasoria has come to him with a tempting, foriegn contract...

MIKIROS
Image
Name: Mikiros
Race: Human
DoB: 670
Faction: n/a
Languages Spoken: Common (broken)

Combat (Blades, One-Handed - Longsword) - Expert
Combat (Shields - Heater) - Competent
Endurance - Competent
Intimidation - Novice
Combat (Blades, One-Handed - Kukri) - Novice
Tactics - Novice

Appearance: Six-feet-six and built like a barn door, Mikiros doesn't bother much with stealth. A big, broad, bearded beast ever since his youth, Mikiros has now added a dead eye to his frightening appearance. And if that doesn't work, a look in his mouth at the burned, cleaved nub where his tongue was should do it. The grey in his hair and beard is starting to speak to his advancing age (fifty arcs is practically ancient in Etzos, doubly so for a lifelong Oh'Pee ganger), but his sheer bulk belies any weakness entropy might threaten him with. He favors simple, functional clothes that are usually custom-sewn for his size, and wears a battered but serviceable bronze breastplate when "on the job".

Description: Much like Vaul, Mikiros was always going to be a ganger. Unlike Vaul, he had far less choice in the manner. Orphaned from birth and raised in the grey, loveless environs of the Etzori Orphanage, Mikiros was always a big, lonely boy. He frightened his peers with his size and his careless strength, and what they feared, they ostracized. But the gangers on the streets beyond those walls always had a use for him, and Mikiros found a family in one of the North Side gangs. Regarded as dumb muscle by most, Mikiros (Miki, to his mates) was only the second part. He had a brain, but spoke little. That was not his forte, after all. He broke people, and people broke against his sword, his shield, his sheer size. But cunning and muscle could not save his "family" when Lisirra invaded. The plagues, the monsters, the anarchy, the famine... he lost so much. So many. So he fought back, with the Irregulars, and became a roaring monster of blood and steel on the Rhakros ramparts. But when he came home, and found Sintra cultists infesting his North Side neighborhood, he spoke out without fear. They found him one night, cutting out his tongue, his eye, and leaving him with a half-dozen stab wounds. But Miki did not die. Because he was a big tough sod, and because Kasoria found him. Now a ganger without a gang, Mikiros works with The Band as much out of loyalty as financial reward.

BELIAL
Image
Name: Belial
Race: Human
DoB: 696
Faction: n/a
Languages Spoken: Common (fluent)

Combat (Ranged - Longbow) - Expert
Combat (Blades, Versatile - Bastard) - Competent
Endurance - Competent
Stealth - Novice
Singing - Novice
Land Navigation - Novice

Appearance: Tall, handsome, and cocky by nature, Belial stands out among The Band with his youthful good looks and swankier clothes. A closer look, though, would prove those garments are still quite hardy, good for city living and country work. Only his odd, lopsided gait speaks to any physical infirmity. Namely, his missing his left foot: cleanly amputated with a heated ax, just above the ankle. He's worked hard to overcome that disability, spending a minor fortune (by Oh'Pee standards) on a decent prosthetic and not letting it get in the way of his archery or swordsmanship. Speaking of which, his custom-made bow is never far from his hands.

Description: Belial found archery young, and fell for it hard. Born to a pair of traveling mummers, Belial enjoyed exploring new towns and performing when he was old enough, but archery... that was where he felt truly accomplished. He practice constantly, both to hunt for his family and win prizes in festivals. Soon the Etzori Army took an interest in him, and Belial gladly accepted their offer. Being in uniform didn't hamper his skill, and soon he was promoted and on track to command a wing of his own bowmen... and then it all went balls up. Predictably, it was his wandering pintle that led to his downfall. Accusations of rape were made; furiously denied, of course. The fact the lady was the wife of another officer who didn't care much for "country trash" was likely a factor... but there were few in Belial's corner. As a mercy, he was offered amputation over execution. He chose his foot, unable to bear a life where he could not draw a bow. Banditry was his next pursuit, for coin and thrills and also, if he was honest, because he longed for the camaraderie the Army had given him. That all came to an end when Lisirra invaded, and his bandit gang was wiped out to a man. Belial had marched with the Irregulars for his revenge, and many a Rhakrosi died with his arrows in their eyes or throats or hearts. Upon returning to Etzos, he found sellsword work wherever he could, his actions in the war largely redeeming his (supposed) sins... but not entirely. So when Highmark Kasoria found him and made him an offer, out of the blue, the young archer decided to accept. After all, Rharnian women were supposed to be delightful.

Biography: Ahdayusis has been like a whisper in the wind, much like when Vhalar leaves meet Zi’da’s ultimate death- they vanish. The turbulent rush of her disappearance is quiet, utterly nonexistent save for a few written letters every season when she attempts contact in the form of requesting updates as to her prodigy's state of wellbeing. Tous is never excited by her letters; she could go without her incessant need for clarity regarding her point of magical progress. Ahdayusis has always been someone who is indifferent, unamused and challenging to impress. She is someone who has walked the lengths of the world, has experienced everything she feels needs to be experienced and ultimately relates to no man as to how the way the world should turn. Ahdayusis has her moments when she is gentle and compassionate, but she is mostly described as someone with little affection toward the learning man. She is inpatient, misunderstanding and requires a fair bit of work in order to connect with. Ahdayusis is cold and calculating, but stands strong with the values of compassion and empathy. She values precision and accuracy and that seeps into her desire of promptness and punctuality. She dismisses hesitancy, disregards those who fail to find confidence and waver on the edge of making decisions. Ahdayusis is short-tempered, but is able to give honest and positive criticism if her mentees are worthy of it. When she isn't sipping on tea or contemplating the meaning of the clouds that are fixed amidst the sky, she is usually apprehensively wondering about how better she can influence her pupils of her good intentions. Ahdayusis is a mixed book- you never know when the climax begins and ends. However, what you can be sure of is her determination and resilience, especially as it relates to gifting her vast knowledge to the next generational learning few.
Relationship to PC: Self-declared co-parent and magic mentor. This means that because Ahdayusis has known Tous since she was young, there is a deep network of connection between the two of them that allows her to easily decide Tous as a worthy initiate for the sharing of her personal magic. Ahdayusis is no globally known mage and has no immediate impact on the world or any organization, but she holds enough power and wisdom to seek a student worthy of adventure.

Name: Silas Montvaliar
Age: 691 Zi'da 23rd
Gender: Male
Organization (if any):

Appearance: Silas has silver hair that falls just past his shoulders. His eyes are a vibrant emerald green. He has a lean and agile build, standing at an average height. Silas prefers to dress in dark, flowing robes of simple browns and grays that allow for ease of movement. He always carries a satchel filled with the trappings of a mage scholar, little sketches of various things, becoming totems, and so on.

Personality: He has a quick wit and enjoys making jokes, even if they don't always land. However, he can also be somewhat awkward in social situations, often struggling to connect with others on a deeper level. Silas has a strong sense of loyalty and is always willing to help those in need, even at the risk of his own safety. He has an established desire to use Dreamwalking to explore Emea. The mage tends to form emotional dependencies on others, often relying on their good will to accomplish his goals. This can make him vulnerable if those he depends on betray him or are unable to help. Additionally, his jokes and awkwardness can sometimes hinder his ability to effectively communicate with others, especially in serious or tense situations.

Bio: He has an obsession with the entity/Immortal, Unity. Although not marked, he seeks to understand the Entity that emerged from the wake of Kielik and Jesine's murder. He wishes to explore every aspect of Emea, from Uleuda to the Immortal Domains. He often resides in dreams, and doesn't have as much a tangible effect upon the waking world as many other mages. Even so, he is a force to be reckoned with in terms of the mischief he can get up to with a combination of glamour and empathy magic. He's seeking a student to help in his explorations of Emea, whether they occupy the same space in Idalos or not, he will probably maintain contact with them through the bonds of dreams.

Relationship: His interest in Szilvia is opportunistic mostly. The fact that she knows a little bit of Qa has intrigued him, to the point where he thinks she may be able to turn the key to Uleuda for non Yludih. He initiated her into Dreamwalking along two of his magical disciplines. This is Szilvia Meszarone's Magic Mentor. Please contact a moderator and coordinate if you wish to use them as a magic mentor.

Alchemists Guild
Tovar Hirak
Image
Name: Tovar Hirak
Race: Human
DoB: Ashan 31st 671
Title: Head of the Alchemists' Guild
Skills: Alchemy: Master, Appraisal: Master, Business Management: Expert, Leadership: Competent, Logistics: Expert, Socialization: Expert

Tovar is a calm, steady man for the most part. It is very difficult to get him angry, but those that do will find that he is quick to lash out verbally and slow to forgive. He has a keen mind, and and an eye for detail. Tovar knows his business and while he loves a good negotiation, it is rare for someone to get the better of him when haggling over the price of something the Guild is selling.

Tovar created the Alchemists' Guild because it allowed him to combine the things he is passionate about. He has a strong interest in alchemy, especially the creation of potions that will aid fighters in some way. And he strongly believes that alchemy is a powerful tool that can be used to shape the world. As a result, he wants to make it easier for those who are skilled in alchemy to get what they need for their work. When not running the business side of the guild, Tovar can often be found with his good friend Markel working on an alchemical project or debating on the merits of one thing or another. His skill at running a business combined with his ability to convince people to work together, and to negotiate a good price in a trade allowed him to create the guild.

As guild leader, he keeps everything running smoothly. Tovar runs the business side of things, selling the reagents and such that the hunters, and gatherers who have joined the guild are able to bring in. He also trades with both local merchants and foreign traders alike to get as many ingredients that are used in alchemy as he can. And he is the one who oversees the goods coming into the guild as well as sets up the meetings where the alchemist members get together to debate and discuss their craft.

Tovar keeps everything above board in the guild. He has a strict honor code, and if he catches any guild member breaking any laws or dealing in illegal ingredients he will report them to the Lightning Knights immediately and their guild membership will be permanently revoked. While the guild may offer semi legal/restricted ingredients for sale, Tovar is very diligent about making sure that only those who are legally allowed to use them can purchase them.

Markel Ignar

Name: Markel Ignar
Race: human
DoB: 59th Vhalar, 647
Title: Alchemist, member of The Alchemist's Guild
Skills: Alchemy: Master, Brewing: Master, Field Craft: Competent, Medicine: Competent, Science: Competent, Teaching: Competent

Markel Ignar is a good friend of Tovar's. When Tovar created the guild, Markel became its first member. Markel is a highly skilled alchemist who specializes in alchemical alcohols. That is his biggest passion, but he has a wide variety of other alchemic interests as well. When he was younger, he enjoyed gathering his own ingredients when possible. But now that he is older, he leaves that to the younger guild members. He will, however share his own knowledge and experience in gathering ingredients if asked.

Markel is a very intelligent man. He is friendly and outgoing, and is always up for a good debate on a subject that interests him. He is also always up for a drink with a friend. Markel is passionate about alchemy, and he loves to share his passion with anyone who is interested. As such, he will happily teach the basics of alchemy to anyone who is willing to learn, but as most alchemists, he is protective of his work. So while he is happy to teach someone the basics, he will not share his alchemic recipes with anyone.

Rikar Tobrin
Image
Name: Rikar Tobrin
Race: human
DoB: 9th Zi'da, 699
Title: Hunter, member of The Alchemist's Guild
Skills: Alchemy: Competent, Blades: Competent, Hunting: Expert, Ranged Combat: Competent, Strength: Expert, Unarmed Combat: Expert

Rikar is a giant of a man with a booming voice, and a ready smile. Standing at 6'5" with broad shoulders, some find him intimidating. He is loud, outgoing, and has a thing for the ladies. When he is working, he is all work. And when he is off work, he is all play. Rikar loves a good drink, and a good fight. He loves a good challenge even more.

He is a highly skilled hunter who makes the most of every kill he makes. Any alchemical ingredients a kill might offer goes to the guild. The meat and furs/hides are sold as well unless he needs them for himself. Any trophies a kill provides are kept for himself unless they can be used in alchemy.

In addition to hunting, Rikar is one of the guild members who helps to provide security for the Guild. Sometimes this takes the form of guarding valuable ingredients or protecting Tovar in a potentially risky trade negotiation (one with unknown or potentially hostile trading partners). Other times, he will go out with hunters or gatherers and protect them while they are working.

As a young child, Rikar saw alchemy save his father's life in the form of alchemic treated leather armor that saved his life while on a hunt. Since then he has had an interest in alchemy and he firmly believes in the philosophy of the guild. But since his family fell on hard times shortly after the incident that sparked his interest in alchemy and alchemy can be an expensive endeavor, he had little opportunity to pursue his interest. In addition to that, his father was a domineering man who believed that the life of a hunter was superior to all others. Rikar wanted to earn his father's approval, so he chose to hide his interest in alchemy and devote himself to becoming the best hunter that he could be. When he learned of the guild, he saw a way that he could do both. He joined the guild as a member who would provide alchemical ingredients to the guild and further the spread of alchemy by making it easier to obtain the necessary ingredients. Since he joined the guild, he has been taking lessons from Markel, and pursuing his interest in alchemy as well as providing alchemic ingredients to the guild.

Rikar's morals are...fluid in a sense. Friendship and loyalty are extremely important to him. He will not deal in illegal ingredients himself, nor will he help someone obtain them if he knows that they are illegal going into it. But if he is protecting a guild member that he is friends with and learns after the fact that they were dealing in illegal ingredients, he might or might not report them to the guild leader; it depends on how strong the friendship is. Likewise, if he learns that a friend is dealing with illegal ingredients while he is helping them, he will not abandon them during the hunt since that might put them in danger. If their friendship is strong enough, he will keep their secret, and might even help them if someone stumbles into them while they have the illegal ingredient. But should this happen, he will not help them gather ingredients again.

Teghen Londo
Teghen Londo

Name: Teghen Londo
Race: Eidisi
DoB: 42 Ymiden, 681
Biometrics: 6'2", 185lbs. Light purple blue-ish hue to his skin like that of a deceased person. Shoulder length black hair that seems to be brushed only as a necessity to stay out of Teghen's completely white eyes. However, no matter the weather, if Teghen is travelling outside Viden, he will wear high knee boots, leather pants, cotton shirt with little V cut at the top tied with a string, knee length coat and gloves as though he is trying to protect as much of his skin as possible. Whenever he is on a field trip, he will carry a satchel slung over his shoulder that contains his journal. Ever since coming to Rharne and adjusting to the climate and environment, Teghen also carries basic useful tools for survival in the wild and some potions and smoke bombs created for him by Alber of Dreamer's Delight in Alber's side hassle.

Backstory: Teghen is as Eidisi as they come - arrogant with strong sense of entitlement. He looks down on non-Eidisi and only sees them as tools to be used to the extent of their usefulness and not beyond. Though he had learned how to mask most of that belief in order to get what he needs.

From a very young age, Teghen had become interested in history. First of his family where he tried to trace the family tree and their origin as far back as he could - finding nothing interesting. Then he got interested in the history of Viden but found it thoroughly researched with little room to groundbreaking discoveries. So finally as he grew, he had turned his gaze to the world of Idalos and its origin. Much like many other Eidisi, Teghen enrolled in the Academy and joined the race to be the first to shed light on the mystery of the world. But unlike most of his peers, Teghen had taken a radical approach of being out there in the field, collecting first hand information from primary sources if possible. That alone is a tedious task of finding, locating and then gathering intelligence, but Teghen believes he is already miles ahead of his peers and his next discovery will be that which marks his name in history books themselves. Therefore, his most recent expedition had brought him to Rharne in Vhalar 723. Under the premise of coming from Viden Academy, Humanities department, he had forged somewhat a link with the local Insitute of Innovation, being granted some access to their resources from their Humanities department. After all, he was going to bravely investigate the Ywyngyll forest, even find the Unabor and question it. Thus began Teghen's seasons long preparation that saw him travel around Rharne gathering knowledge before his big trip into the "lion's maw".

Eirich Arathion

Image
Name: Eirich Arathion
Birth trial: Cylus 17, 673
Trial of death: Ashan 89, 714
Race: Aukari
Skills: Combat: Unarmed (Expert), Discipline (Expert), Meditation (Expert), Intelligence (Master), Detection (Expert), Deception (Master), Seduction (Competent)
Relationships: Elowen's Father
Status: Dead
History: Eirich was raised like many other Aukaris. He entered education at five arcs old and completed it at eighteen whereby he received the rune of Barer of Flames. Eirich had shown prowess in information retention and recall. Anything said to him, anything he had read or seen, he would be able to remember with great precision which he further worked on and improved over his life. This ability pushed Eirich in two decisive directions. One, he was in the Aukarian library all the time. He revelled in the information he could glean from the books and journals, locking it in his brain. Two, the path to spycraft was almost a given. It wasn't that long after his graduation that he began receiving his missions.

Eventually, he was posted in Rharne. Given his past and his abilities, he managed to secure a position in the Merchant's Library of the city. Over the arcs, Eirich created a name for himself as the reserved but highly reliable and knowledgeable member of staff. During his tenure in Rharne, Eirich was then approached by one of Purveyor's minions. This was before the fateful fight between Purveyor, Purveryor and Rharne. Eirich was told of a new mission within the territory. Under the illusion that Fladrun himself was mobilizing to move against Rharne and the Immortal of Lightning, the man joined the cause and became involved in what became known as the Underchildren experiment. Along with other man subscribed to this action, he was tasked with impregnating one woman and making sure she had delivered the baby safely. It did not matter to Purveryor how this was done. Given Eirich's position in the library, he was able to pick an easier target - a wife of a gemstone trader. She was unhappy in her marriage due to lack of children's and husband's frequent travels. Of course, the Aukarian spy exploited that. Over short but very intense and secretive courting period, the woman found out she was pregnant. She was ecstatic, and she also had no further need for Eirich, choosing to preserve her marriage over an affair. Not that Eirich pressured her otherwise or minded. After all, she had also served her purpose.

However, it was before the child was born that Eirich found out that Faldrun was never planning to invade Rharne. Purveyor drove this independently, out of spite. Eirich had been manipulated. Anger was the closest emotion he could experience. Rage would have caused him to burn the city down himself. He was humiliated. In an act of rebellion, Eirich had decided to never let Purveyor get the child he helped create. He held little feelings for the mother or the girl that ended up being born. To him it was a matter of principle. Purveyor had used him to his own ends, exploiting Eirich's belief and loyalty. Therefore, Purveyor was a traitor in his eyes. Eirich could not take the man one on one, but he could perhaps hinder the activities. So over the following arcs before the collection of Underchildren was meant to happen, Eirich spent his time finding out as much as he could about the Underchildren, keeping a coded journal that recorded all that he had found even though that which he had found was minimal. His mind was the safest place to keep this information, call it premonition, Eirich had a need to put this particular topic in writing.

In that time, he also put in place a plan of how and where the child would be hidden. He staked out a remote shack in the woods south of the city of Rharne. It was a home to a local herbalist - a well established, quick thinking and sharp woman but unfortunately not immune to the craft of deception that Eirich lived and breathed. She was still one of the hardest targets to convince of the story he came up with - there was a child of fire in the city of Rharne, unloved by her parents and in danger of death. Would this old woman take this poor soul under her wing and prove that blood did not determine actions? Eirich would never find out nor did he care, why the woman agreed to it at the end. But she did and that was his job done. He watched from the shadows that day when the Mistral's apothecary collected the child from the streets and spirited her away.

Not long after, Eirich met his end when he openly rebelled against Purveyor. That was the only day Eirich ever felt free erupting in beautiful blaze of anger and rage. Arcs of suppressed feelings flamed around him even as he fought knowing he was going to die. The library staff alerted authorities of his disappearance and a missing report was filed. They even put up flyers for Eirich but no one would ever find him. Eventually, they would just commemorate him with a small portrait of people of honour displayed in the library.

Morticare Thrawe

becoming/glamour mentor
Name: Morticar Thrawe

Race: Human

Date of Birth: 38 Ymiden, 797

Date of Death: 15 Saun, 723

Skills:
55 becoming
55 glamour
54 acting
30 larceny
30 musical instrument: pluck
26 teaching

Appearance: Lean and wiry, with long red hair and green eyes. Typically dressed in colorful clothes, carrying a lute. Typically smiling.

Personality:

History: Before he was a jester, Morticar was a thief. Before that, he was a slave to the Venora family. He stole his freedom by trading Venora keys, valuables, and guard rotations in exchange for the power to Become. He helped his mentor rob the Venora for another few fruitful years before he broke into the room of Noraius Thadian, a traveling jester on visit to entertain the noble family. Noraius was a master glamourist, and attended by three initiates to boot; Morticar’s becoming magic wasn’t enough to stay unseen. But Noraius was more intrigued than offended at the young thief, and let him go without so much as raising an alarm. Morticar used this generosity to try and rob the man again. Once again he was caught, then let go over a round of chuckles. Morticar had always been a cheerful, outgoing lad, and the lot of jesters were likewise cheerful and outgoing; he tried a third time, a fourth and fifth, and it all seemed funnier each time. Morticar spent an entire season failing to rob Noraius Thadian, and when the jesters picked up their act to move to the next performance, Morticar followed them. “For the valuables,” he’d always say if they asked why, though he didn’t really need to steal anything. When he started pretending like he belonged onstage next to them, the pay was more than enough to simply buy the valuables he wanted.

Morticar was initiated into glamour the arc before Artere awoke. The hive mind swept quickly across the nation of Rynmere; it was by pure chance that the jesters were separated at the time, organizing clients in different locations. Morticar just happened to be at Noraius’ side when they escaped, and was the only one of Noraius’ apprentices to do so.

They arrived in Rharne, amongst a flood of other Ryn refugees, and started life anew in the mountain city. Then, in time, a Rharnean thief got into her head to rob Noraius Thadian, and Morticar’s story found itself a sequel.

Relationship to PC: Mentor and then lover. Velane Dufont repeated the same steps Morticar had once done: rob Noraius, get caught by his apprentice, and then refuse to give up. Morticar always did love thematic parallels, and the fourth time she tried, he initiated her into becoming in exchange for a severed toe and a handful of valuables. Half of this was from practicality ― the mentor-initiate bond ensured she would never be able to sneak past him no matter how sneaky she got ― and half because his mentor had no more sparks to give. If Noraius Thadian’s magical line was to survive, it would be through Morticar. She was a petty thief, not a mastermind, just as Morticar had once been, who practiced larceny because it allowed her to eat instead of because she actually wanted to live a life of crime. She was a hungry criminal, not a wicked one, with shriveled up seeds of hope and imagination just waiting for a bit of water. He initiated her because he thought she could be something better. He was right.
