he morning of the trial came with a cool tropical breeze, and the viper was already waiting at the place where the lothar had told him to meet him. He was early by several breaks in fact, and decided to try something he had seen Fridgar do.Taking the Nemician Stalker totem, he had aptly named Jumper, he began to fill the totem with ether. Falling into a meditative state he began to impart part of himself into the totem, more than what was already present. He felt the creature's need to stalk and prowl the forest and he enjoyed that feeling. After a break or so of communing with Jumper, the Totem took shape, and Dosan's first Totemic Guardian was born.
Jumper quickly took a prone stance, checking the surrounding area and Dosan gave him a wave, the creature leaping into the closets tree.
"Keep an eye out for a Lothar for me Jumper"
he commanded, to which Jumper gave a confirming howl as it lept from tree to tree. There in the lush silence of the forest, he continued his meditation trying to clear his mind, to find some balance in the storm that was his head. So much had transpired and he needed to come to terms with it, or at least try to. In the blank silence of his mind his past in Quacia, the smell of the Lair and the rot of the city filled his mind.
It was both a familiar and depressing memory. The feeling of helplessness washing over him, only to be subsided by the feeling of joy and excitement. In that feeling the smell of his mate, of Fridgar, and the way his runes looked filled this space.
In those memories, he tried to see, to find what went wrong, why he hadn't heard from the protean in so long. Part of him believed that maybe, just maybe he had done something to offend the great mage. He searched through all the memories he held with Fridgar but came up short. This left him somewhat disappointed in himself and angry at Fridgar.
He was just like the rest, only in his life as a lesson, to learn from. The viper felt foolish to think he would be different. All men of power were the same it seemed, and that realization only served to irritate him even more. He hated the fact that he let himself become vulnerable to someone he felt he could trust, he hated the fact that he thought he could find happiness in another.
All that emotion flood in and out of him like a river, and then, like an alarm Jumper howled from within the trees. Someone was coming, and the viper wiped the tears from his eyes as he opened them. It was that Lothar from the trial before. The Viper did what he could to compose and hide his emotions from earlier, putting on a normal face for the Lothar. He couldnt let him see him in such a way.

As the Lothar approached, Jumper landed a few feet in front of Dosan, defensive and snarling at the man. Dosan chuckled, patting the creature on the shoulder and walked in front of it.
"Its ok, he's a friend....I hope he is at least, for his sake."
the viper mused, smirking as he looked the warrior over. "I don't believe i got your name yestertrial, care to share?"
he asked, raising a brow. The Lothar smirked and nodded, extending a hand to the viper. "Argo Ragnorvelk, but just call me Argo. I'm glad to see you came. I would have been upset if you hadn't shown after that display you put on." he said in response. "Well I'm here, now care to tell me about this.....Lyrosaur?"
he demanded, eager to learn more about the creature. Argo nodded and the two, along with Jumper leaping through the trees, began to walk further into the denseness of the rainforest. "The Lyrosaur is a giant lizard that can breathe lightning from its mouth. Many believe it is a form of divine punishment, the gods disappointed in our actions. Some believe it is a test by the gods, to see who among the mortals can defeat a beast of its power. I can't say I believe either of those but I know its been on this island since I was a boy, if not longer. I use to always hear tales of it and how it would come to a village after someone committed a heinous act and wipe out the village as a form of punishment." he began, the memories obviously shaking the large man up a bit.
Dosan could sense that much, but kept his words to himself, waiting till he heard everything. Argo cleared his throat and continued. "If you ask me, I think its a menace that has plagued our island for far too long. I've dreamed of slaying it, but when everyone who goes after never returns, you start to think if the glory is really worth your life." he said, looking to Dosan as they came to a cliff that overlooked a large clearing. "Do you really think you can kill it by yourself?" he asked, a hint of doubt in his voice.
Dosan looked to the clearing before him and could see what looked like a proving ground. This had to be where the Lyrosaur hunted or spent its days when not on the prowl. No matter the case, it would be where he would kill the beast. A smirk painted his face as he already and some form of a plan on how to kill it.
"Meet me here tomorrow, and bring every able-bodied person you can find. I have a nasty little plan on how to take care of this beast, but it's going to require some work."
he requested, looking back at Argo. "I'll help you kill this beast, I did say that didnt I?"
with a smirk the two began their walk back to the village. Dosan had one more question he wanted to ask of the Lothar, an important one.
"Tell me, has anyone seen a man, a Lothar like you, um...he has runes all along his arms. His skin and hair are pale, and he has crimson and black eyes?"
he asked looking to Argo, hoping that maybe the Lothar had come across his mate. ☰ ☱ ☲ ☳ ☴ ☵ ☶ ☷
Argo shook his head. "I'd remember seeing someone that fits that description kid, but I can't say I've seen him. Friend of yours?" he asked, a look of curious concern on his face. Dosan shook his head as it was far more complicated than Argo would understand.
"More like a mentor, but no need to worry if you haven't seen him."
he said, disappointed in the answer, but more so hurt. He was hurt in the realization Fridgar truly abandoned him, left him in a foreign place to make a new start, after promising to protect him, to guide him. Where those all lies? Lies just to cement his loyalty? He gripped his head from the thought, his tail swaying erratically from his mental frustrations. He couldnt believe he got left behind by someone again.
First his father, now mother, and then the Duke, Alistair, and Fridgar. It was a long list of people to have let him down, but he wouldn't allow it to happen again. No, he wouldn't allow another abuse his trust like that ever again.
For now, he would focus on the task at hand, and killing the Lyrosaur was a top priority right now.
