Quacia Development Submissions

If you aren't sure about a development project, please post in the Discussions Thread first!

If there is something that you would love to see added to Quacia then put it here for consideration.

Rules

  • All images submitted must be hosted in the site's Gallery.
  • Please keep in mind that your development, once approved will be uploaded to the Wiki. This means that images will need to be appropriate. You might want to include a few small images, that's fine - or one larger one. We're not worried, images are great, and we'd like a nice visual.
  • Use the provided templates below. They don't have a lot of coding etc - they're wiki-ready!

Coldheart Hostel

Description: An unassuming townhouse on the outskirts of the Gleam. From the outside, it's made of the same, dark granite stonework that the rest of the city appears enamored of. Sparse bloodlights and cave grapes grow from the sides of the grounds of the townhouse, vining their way around windows and thresholds. The roof has attractive skylights, which provide ample ventilation to the laboratory in the attic.

On the ground floor, there are a couple of bunk rooms for boarders to stay, as well as a shared bathroom and a large, fully equipped kitchen. Upstairs is the living space of the house's owner, Rakvald, who keeps a master bedroom, bathroom, and study to himself. Above the second floor, behind a pull-down trap door, a spacious attic opens up into a large laboratory of dubious intent.

The basement, below the first floor, is devoid of decoration for now.

Goods / services available here? If so what, how much? Dentistry, body modification, weight loss clinic.

Alâmina Perfeita

Image

Name of Location: Alâmina Perfeita

Description: The exterior of the shop appears as a mini-fortress in its own right. Several armored guards stand sentry, still as statues beside the doors leading inward, while the windows are barred from the outside by exquisite metalwork.

Inside the graystone of the building, a spacious reception where prospective clients may wait and relax while waiting for a consultation with Eapheo or his son. Interesting enough, there are no examples of the smith's work laying around, or on display. Perhaps such is his reputation and skill that it speaks for itself, and needs no proof. But the truth is that Eapheo's blades are priceless heirlooms, and not for sitting on a wall, collecting dust, unless the person who owns the wall wishes to spend the exorbitant amount required to acquire a blade.

The first person to greet any customer, will likely by Eapheo's son, Rufion, who sizes anyone up as if he's spoiling to fight them. Once he ascertains their purpose there, and that it is to consult about buying a sword, they'd be directed to wait among the other customers.

The furniture is sumptuously decorated with plush velvet seating, festooned with cloth of silver and gold, and fully decorated with all manner of Quacian artifacts and artwork. Nobody ever sees the actual forge where the work is done, unless they are accepted as a client. And then, not everyone is deemed worthy of being a client in Eapheo's estimation. They must either perform some form of service for the smith, or else prove themselves a master of blades. Eapheo will not tolerate lesser swordsmen sullying the reputation of his blades by suffering defeat.

In any event, whether they receive the blade by merit, birth, or by service, they must then pay the full amount called for.

NPCs at this location: Eapheo - Grandmaster Bladesmith. Rufion Eapheo's apprentice and only son.

Goods / services available here? If so what, how much? Bespoke swordsmithing services. From scratch, a bespoke sword will cost 25 wp for a flat fee when constructed of any pure metal. Alloyed blades cost 40 wp. Blades are guaranteed for life. If a damaged blade bearing Eapheo's family mark is returned to his shop, he will offer free repair/tempering/reforging.

All swords made here are of masterwork+ quality, and never any less. He caters to the excessively rich (tier 10, typically) and even they may only expect to make one purchase in a lifetime. In truth, one purchase is all that's needed to receive a weapon that will likely last for generations.

It should be noted that this smithy specializes in swords ONLY. He will not make any other kind of weapon. Swords can be anything from fencing smallswords/rapiers, to massive two-handed, pike-breaking zweihanders.

Eapheo Perfeita

Race: Human
Age: 2nd Saun 668
Title: - Grandmaster Swordsmith
Moderation Mod Input/Self-mod
Able/Willing to Mentor?: Yes
Skills Willing to Mentor: Appraisal (Only on a limited basis to those performing essential services to his business.) He will not, under any circumstances, teach the art of smithing to anyone not of his own blood.

Description: The man wears elaborate Quacian styled dress, and also sashes that are well decorated by jewels and brooches. This is not a grizzled backwoods smith, afraid to compromise his image with such accoutrements. If anything, his displays of affluence are there to reinforce a sense that he is the utmost master of his trade.

He stands at about six feet tall, with an extremely tough, wiry build.

Rufion Perfeita

Race: Human
Age: 17th Ashan 698
Title: - Master Duelist, Master Swordsmith.
Moderation Type: Self-mod/Mod-Input
Able/Willing to Mentor?: Yes
Skills able/willing to Mentor in: Combat (Blades 1-h/2-h), Strength, Endurance, Acrobatics, Tactics, Dancing.
Description: Known as a daring duelist, who has championed several nobles in hundreds of successful duels, he is among the first to test any sword that is bequeathed to whatever client enters the forge of his father. While the swords are ordinarily designed with the capabilities of the person using them in mind, Rufion is one of the better judges of a blade's balance. Any sword that is found inadequate by Rufion, is cast into the foundry for smelting, to be poured out into another piece of metal, and forged anew.

The House of Woe

The house is located on the outskirts between the Fortress and the Gleam. The main hall opens up to a central reception, which is well lit by both windows and bloodlight chandeliers that hang from the high vaulted ceiling. A wide staircase is situated in the middle of the reception, toward the back, leading up to the second floor of the house.

In the back of the reception, a door leads to the forge, and through that, to the undercroft, and beneath that the dungeon.

Twin double doors lay on either wing of the house, the western wing leading toward a hallway that enters into a bath house. The eastern wing leads to a big kitchen and dining area.

Upstairs, the first door at the top of the stairs leads into the library and from there there is access to Woe's hidden study. At the western wing there's a door leading over to Woe's master bedroom. The eastern wing has door leading into Fleaface's master bedroom.

All throughout the house, gothic architecture is elaborately realized, complete with high jagged spires on the gables, and gargoyles perched along the high points of the roof. There isn't much of a grounds to the place, but what grounds there are to walk are fenced off by a metal grate, sealed with a lock.
Room Layout

Huge: the Lowest level of the house is located a level beneath the basement maze. It's a fully equipped torture chamber/prison, with enough room to hold six prisoners comfortably. It also contains a shrine to Sintra
Huge: The undercroft, which has an access behind a hidden door behind a bookcase, is a basement maze. This is the first line of defense before one makes it to the dungeon.
Huge: A large, central reception area on the ground floor of the townhouse. There are
Large: A large forge and workshop, where Woe does most of his handiwork.
Large: An upstairs library with access at the top of the reception's staircase.
Large: A large bath house, on the western wing of the house.
Average: A Big kitchen with access on the door to the eastern wing of the townhouse.
Average: A master bedroom, Woe's room.
Average: A master bedroom, Fleaface's room and the guest room.
Small: A small study space, tucked away in the corner of the library.

Approved! It will technically be in Gleam since Fortress is walled off, but it can be right up next to the perimeter! Enjoy this fancy house!

Re: Quacia Development Submission Thread

Image
Sa-Ki-Uata
Race: Qiora/Eidisi Mixed Race
Age: Ymiden 52nd 582
Title: - Junior Councilor to the Guild of War
Moderation Type: Self.
Able/Willing to Mentor?: Yes
Skills able/willing to Mentor in: Blacksmithing: Master, Chemistry: Master, Alchemy: Master, Design: Expert.

Description.
Appearance: The woman exhibits prominent Qiora traits over the Eidisi, yet with a bluish tint to her skin rather than the typical green/browns of a qiora. Her youthful appearance betrays nothing of her advanced age. Only her calm and deeply thoughtful manner speak of long experience in life, of getting by despite the worst designs of other mortals. Her skin is dark blue, with leaf-like veins and skin devoid of body hair giving away her Qiora nature. She prefers rich yet practical garments, often wearing robes and cloaks of singular colors, without much care for excessive adornment. She has a strong build from spending many decades working the foundry and the forge.

Personality: Calm, thoughtful, and straight-forward describe this woman perfectly. While she has the appearance of benevolence, as a follower of Chamadarst, she will not hesitate to do what is necessary to further her own ends. For that reason, she can be difficult to deal with, and one is taking fate into their hands when they even entertain the idea of trusting her.

Nevertheless, among her few weaknesses are a love of passing on what knowledge and wisdom she has. She's perhaps an open book when it comes to her craft, yet she's careful to couch her advice and lessons in riddles that confound many who listen to her.

Backstory: Her life began in Viden, where she was born to one very highly positioned Eidisi of Videnese society and her Qi'ora trade slave (He was a mason). There, she wanted for very little, yet her father often instilled a sense of grasping dissatisfaction in her. When she grew to adulthood, she left Viden to pursue an interest in the founder's industry, of smithing and alchemy. She harbors a dual devotion to Yvithia and Chamadarst, owing to it her dual heritage and the values her parents instilled in her.

From there, she spent much of the next few decades wandering the world, learning what she could about her chosen crafts, absorbing every new revelation like a sponge. Before long, her search for knowledge and interest in high technology brought her to Quacia, where she was put in the employ of a rich Guild of War family. She spent much of her time apprenticed to one master or another. She made a good living until she reached mastery of her craft, and then resumed perfecting the art of foundry, weapon, and armor smithing for over a century and continues to do so into the arc of 720.

Re: Quacia Development Submission Thread

Image
Name: Quacian Bloodhound

Description: A dog with a keen sense of smell, that can trace the scent of blood for miles. It will alert violently at creatures that don't have proper blood flow, such as tunawa, Naer, Yludih, and Creepborne if they come near a bonded human.

Location: Mostly the Baronies, but also considered a luxury pet by the wealthy who can afford to keep an animal fed.

History: While hounds and other hunting canines have been constant companions to the people of Quacia since before the Cataclysm, it wasn't until well after the rise of the Theocratum, that the Quacian Bloodhound began to emerge as a distinct breed. Trained to sniff out those who lacked proper blood flow, and thus any creepborne changelings, the dog became an important fixture in Quacian life. Breeders of the Quacian Bloodhound are in high demand among those traveling abroad, as they may warn their masters against venturing into a Creep-infected patch of wilderness.

The Theocratum has a mixed reaction to the beasts. Some are threatened by the dog's keen sense of blood tracking and fear it might interfere with the selection process of blood sacrifices, while others believe it is blessed by the Wounded God, a gift to help his people against the ever-encroaching Creep.

Appearance: It looks like an ordinary bloodhound. This notably includes Wrinkled skin (to trap odors) and ears that droop and drag on the ground (to push the scents toward their noses). Where this dog differs is in its heterochromatic eyes, one of which is silver, the other is the deepest crimson.

Lifespan and Development: See a typical canine/dog.

Diet: Carnivorous, of particular interest to the dog's appetite are bones and bone meal. Some butchers make a good living arranging a special dog-feed that keeps them well fed with less loss of useable meat, by combining the meat with bonemeal. Quacian Bloodhounds thrive on a steady diet of meat and bonemeal.

Temperament: Protective of their bonded humans, and fiercely loyal. They make great hunting companions or guard dogs. They do not tolerate Yludih, Naer, tunawa, or any changelings, however.

Abilities: The ability to sniff out and alert at the presence of changelings, tunawa, and yludih, basically any moving creature that lacks silver or red blood. Otherwise, the typical specimen has a very keen sense of smell that it can make its way by, but is quite blind. The Quacian Bloodhound is a sturdy breed with above-average endurance and strength for any other dog their size. They can be easily trained to react in different ways to certain blood-types and those who lack bloodflow. For instance, instead of alerting as their natural inclination may be, certain prized trained beasts will lead the way away from these bloodless aberrations.
High (almost master) level of detection once fully grown; with extreme sense of smell. Great stamina—they can track for long periods of time. Can also track unique individuals through both scents on the ground and in the air. Can recognize trails that have been traveled. Can sense scents up to 300 hours old, and track a trail up to 150 miles. Their range for scents is around a quarter-mile.

Re: Quacia Development Submission Thread

How Quacia handles development will be changing. There are many things you can develop, whether a new Location, a City NPC, or Flora & Fauna. Templates for these commonly developed (and needed) items are at the start of this thread.

But that is by no means a complete list of things that can be added, so if you have an idea for anything else... feel free to post them also! Games, slang, uniforms, and more are welcome for suggestion.

Again, if you want an old/outdated development to be put through, please resubmit so it can be checked and potentially put up on the Wiki.

Start a new thread based on the proper template in the Development Forum with any development submissions. One submission per thread. Thanks.
