Rules for Memory Threads

What Are Memory Threads?

  • A memory thread is a thread set in a cycle before PC creation.
  • In order to write a collaborative memory thread, all PCs involved have to meet the criteria for it being a memory thread (eg: it must be set before PC creation for all).
  • The purpose of memory threads is to allow you to flesh out your PCs history.

Skill Play in Memory Threads

Skill Levels

How do we play our skill levels, when it comes to memories that occur in our pcs past history, or memories?

There's no easy solution to this problem. So we've decided that a person can use their current skill levels when applying a review request for memory threads. Please be reasonable about this, though. A mortalborn that is hundreds of years may have skills that fluctuate in level throughout the centuries. But it doesn't make sense for a current master of unarmed to start kicking ass when they're five years old.

As in all things, it depends very much on the reviewer's discretion. We urge reviewers to take these details into account. Especially when awarding points or denying review requests. Those who abuse this system to do ridiculous feats as a baby or a toddler, for instance.

Magic & Memory

Magic skills are not considered standard skills for the purposes of this rule. They may not be played beyond novice in memory threads, and only then if they were present at PC creation.

Memory & Dreaming

Players may not undertake dream memory threads as this is simply too complex in terms of the Dreamwalking skill

Memory & Wealth Threads

In order to request Wealth Points from a thread review, a completed seasonal Wealth Thread is required. Seasonal Wealth Threads cannot be claimed before the PC started IC play, therefore Wealth Points cannot be claimed for memory threads.
