Saun 10 717

It had been incredibly warm as the light of Saun finally seemed to fade out almost suddenly, the world around him now just a dry and empty space from which he stood alone within. At first Patrick had looked around clueless as to where he had arrived, but after he'd heard a few things he felt certain then. Where he had fallen was the one place he didn't want to be, because the monster that prowled about awaited him. Even now he heard the overly menacing purrs that curled from the darkness, his own demon awaited within the vast pitch black while it lurked from all around him. Scared now Pat twisted a turn to run in the opposite direction of where he faced, hopeful that he might outrun the beast that haunted his being. The presence of the creature felt so close to him, so eerily nearby as if it's overwhelming hot breath nearly scorched the surface of his skin.

The time had to be drawing closer now, the frequency of these appearances were too common an indication. Still Patrick ran as fast as he could nonetheless, the silvery eyed beast bound to be upon him. Patrick's steps echoed on what seemed like smoothed stone more or less, and yet no matter how far his bare feet took him he noticed something. There were no walls whatsoever here. He kept running with desperation in his mind as the heat behind him slowly started to rise, escalated on the inclination that his nightmare drew closer to him yet. Behind him was the sound of claws sharper than razor scraping against stone, as the curled sounds within the monster's throat became more vigorous in pants.

It chased him.

It drew closer in a manner of Trills compared to the amount of meters Patrick had to have ran, the sounds of a large and hungry predator freshly next to Patrick's own ears as he barely had time to look over his shoulder. He fell forward onto the floor next as the beast growled over him almost in a glide, as the form of the four-legged beast vanished quickly into the cloak of darkness once more. Shaken from the encounter Patrick slowly pushed himself back onto his feet, eyes blood shot as they scanned for the creature in the direction it had went. Nothing. The creature seemed veiled by shadow once again, with his playfully low snarls to echo all around Patrick. The stone beneath his feet felt hot as he stood, the faint light of his familiar friend shone faintly within the distance.

"Patrick!!" Ri called out from such a far away position. "Patrick hurry!! Hurry, run this way!!" She beckoned him as he just watched briefly with his attention split, between her and the Sessfiend that wandered amidst his position. Ri continued to urge him to her place and after another snarl heard from his right, Patrick darted into a sprint for the winged creature he sought to unite himself with. If anything she would be able to help him out of here, help him escape the hunting this creature sought to torture him with. "Patrick run!! Run!!"

"Ri!" He called out to the fairy as he pushed himself further into the run, no matter how much his chests heaved he didn't stop. No. He pushed himself harder to reach her, and just as he began to do so he heard the creature behind him once more. Something else happened though. The floor beneath his feet felt so warm now, rather uncomfortably so in fact, that he heard stone crack right behind him in the process. His pursuit for his friend now challenged by the crumbling of stone beneath his feet, as the pressured heat from below started to swell and rise in force all of a sudden. The Sessfiend seemed to be right behind him, he felt the heavily rushed pants from it's maw upon his flesh as he pushed onward. "Ri'ku!!" He called out just before he felt the ground beneath his feet shift, until nothing remained there to hold him in place as it did beforehand. As Patrick fell he could hear two things in his descent, the cry of the Sessfiend as it too fell into the all consuming void... and the sound of Ri'ku's voice as she called out to him.

Darkness seemed the only thing present until he felt his drift lull to a stop, and then somehow the world around him took on a different form. Patrick at last opened his eyes not to darkness, but to a meadow of flowers that appeared to be bordered with trees all around. Above him existed a plain sky as there existed not two suns, but a sun and a moon that shared the same domain in cohesion. "Where..." Ri'ku fluttered before his face from out of nowhere in a frenzy dynamic, resembling that of the concern she usually displayed for him.

"Patrick! You made it!"

"To... where?" He inquired as she turned to dart about a few inches away.

"I'm not sure." She responded in turn. "Could be another's dream or... a sanctuary perhaps?"

"What?" Patrick scoffed at the implication of her suggestion, no matter how plausible it seemed to explain the outcome. He looked down to find himself dressed in a comfortable pair of cotton clothes, white shirt and white pants that loosely clung to the surface of his flesh. As he walked about the meadow curiously, he heard faintly within the air a dying echo of the beast that chased him. Had this place really served a sanctuary from that creature? Where they legitimately safe here? Within the confines of another's dream even? He needed to investigate first to understand, thus he wandered aimlessly among the flowers to see what he would discover.

Niv sat at the head of a long table constructed from a slab of wood and supported by pillars of stacked buttons bound tightly with twine. There was a fresh dish towel laid upon the table with garnished bugs displayed on leaf dishes and acorn shells filled with bubbling goop.

“So who’s coming?” Squawked the large white cockatoo named Patcha sitting to the left of the tunawa. The riding saddle was on his back as it typically was and he bobbed up and down as he was never able to sit still.

“Well I made a pretty long list but it seems like everyone is busy..” Niv bit her lip and pinched her brow before looking to the young lemon tree placed next to the bird.
“Ellis.” She called and the lemon tree responded with a shake of its leaves. “Are Pash and Kali coming..or are dey doing deh boom boom.” The tree that during the waking breaks lived with Pash, stood still for a moment before making another more subtle shake of its leaves.
“Knew it!” Niv crossed her arms and puffed her cheeks in fustration. “Those rascals.”

“What’s the boom boom?” The innocent eyed flying squirrel leaned in and whispered to Niv.
“I”ll tell you when your older Skret,” Niv whispered back.
“Oh sorry.” Skret looked down at her paws and began fiddling with them.

Feeding off the anxiety of the timid Squirrel, was the fear spirit Moop that was bonded to Niv with the help of Ashan’s blessing. The flames that encompassed its bee like form, crackled and popped as it hovered ominously. It twisted its head slowly and with a series of echoed screams and whimpers it asked where Faith and Padraig were.

“They went to get me Bones!” The glowing dog across from Moop interrupted with a cheerful bark. Its tongue panting happily in anticipation for the treats he would receive.

The four tailed electrified cat sitting next to the dog sighed loudly and rolled his eyes as it wrung dark liquid from a storm cloud into his tea cup. It let go of the then white cloud which drifted back into the sky where it belonged. “Cosmo, They are not getting you bones, you IDIOT! I’m their master, the great and powerful Quattro and I already commanded them to get me fish" The cats head turned sharply to the dog and sneered before adding "I said NOTHING about Bones.”

Cosmo’s head sunk in disappointment. “oh..” he whimperd.

"Your tears give me Pooower..." Quattro cackled to himself as he revelled in the poor dogs anguish.

Everyone went quiet as the blue bells rung signalling the arrival of new guests. Out of the tunnel crafted of dense grasses and weeds leading into the party room, came a familiar face.
“Oh Patrick! Welcome welcome!” Niv waved her arms about happily.
“Who’s your friends?” Niv inquired after spotting the fairy and the silhouettes standing behind him.

by Tei'serin Nji'ryn
The forest that surrounded Tei'serin was deep, and soothing. The sound of water dripping from the leaves, and the quiet song of birds going about their business were the only sounds that she could hear. A thick bed of leaves covered the floor. It was impossible to tell if anyone else had come this way, since there was no dirt visible for footprints to be left in. But Tei'serin was reassured by the fact that she would hear someone trying to sneak up on her by the rustle of the leaves as they approached. She was safe here. And if she was really lucky, she would be able to hide for a time.

Tei'serin felt a soft fluttering in her belly, and she placed her hand over the small bump there. To her, it felt as though her unborn child was trying to tell her that she was safe, too. She smiled softly for a few trills, before it faded. Her pregnancy had only recently become visible. The doctor who she was seeing assured her that this was normal...but she was convinced that she had gotten pregnant ninety trials ago. Tei'serin knew different. She had conceived on the first of Cylus, in an amazing encounter she had had with Ziell.

Two hundred and forty six trials had passed since then, not the mere ninety that her doctor believed. Tei'serin knew that it took two hundred and eighty trials on average for a baby to be born. That meant that her due date was in early Vhalar, not in Zi'da, like the doctor imagined. And yet...you could never tell by looking at her. She looked barely pregnant. Did that mean that something was wrong with her baby? Her hand tightened protectively over her belly, as if by doing so, she could protect the child sleeping within from harm.

But the soothing aura of the forest quickly eased her fears, and she followed the bird song until she came to a...tunnel? It was a tunnel made out of grass, and weeds, at that. Curious as to who might have made such a thing, and why, Tei'serin entered the tunnel, intent on seeing where it led. Perhaps its creator was waiting on the other side.

The tunnel led into a room, where someone seemed to be having a party. But as she stood behind a few feet behind a strange man and peered around him as best she could, it quickly became obvious that it was unlike any party she had ever seen before. Not that she had been to many parties to be able to judge such things. The guests appeared to be a white bird, a squirrel, a glowing dog, a four tailed cat, and a...talking wooden doll with vines and leaves growing out of her head? Perhaps the man, and the fairy he had with him, as well.

The wooden doll greeted the man warmly, so Tei'serin guessed that they must know each other. Tei'serin stood awkwardly, wondering if she should go. She hadn't been invited to the strange party, nor did she know any of the guests. She had simply been hoping to find out who had built the grass tunnel, and why they had chosen to do so.

Emea. It was one of his favorite places to hide in when he was not in her direct vicinity. This world was malleable and permitted him an opportunity to be creative as he once was when he created the Tunawa. At the moment, the Southern continent appeared to be peaceful. This also meant that it did not require his monitoring every waking second. Audrae and her lot had been quiet for some time now and the Cikkaken seemed to have themselves completely organized. Even Magani, the city of his people, was quiet. So, at times like this, he would let himself slip into Emea for some uninhibited fun.

At first he stood in a white space. He would lean down and place a finger in the ground to watch it bend like elastic. Then, at an increased speed, a seedling would sprout. It reached upwards with two leaves, its green stalk growing bark as it turned into a sapling. Extra branches poked out as nubs and then turned into thick arms. The leaves unfurled, fell, sprouted, and unfurled again and again. The tree grew until it was an ancient tree in a matter of bits. This is the kind of world Emea was. He could build his own forest in a matter of seconds, just to provide himself a place to sit and think. With the expanse of white around his lone tree, Ymiden fell on the bed of soft leaves that the tree had made for him. The branches swayed side to side despite the absence of a breeze. With his arms behind his head, he stared up at the leaves as the white above flickered between the swaying branches.

Moseke had been his shining light; she was his savior. Now, he needed to find a way to show her his eternal love and devotion. There were whispers of hidden items within the world of Idalos. One of their cousins had a desire for them and appeared to be making a game of it. It was very classic of him. Ymiden was wracking his brain for those that might help him with this endeavor. He had followers around the world but whom could he convince to do something for him so that he could do right by her?

He closed his eyes, quietly searching through dreams of others with his unique connection to Emea at that very moment. Men dreamt of women and women dreamt of children. Sons dreamt of wooden swords and shields while daughters dreams of a knight in shining armor. One girl made him stop in his ethereal seeking because she dreamt of being that knight in shining armor. He chuckled. Some people just wanted to break the mold. It was cute. He then came to another dream where there was a collection of oddities. It was a long table with petite forest ware. A Tunawa sat at the head of the table. Slowly, others seemed to join the small wooden creature.

This seemed like a good a place as any to start. Ymiden opened his eyes and stood up. He knocked on the thick trunk of his tree. With a creek, a door opened up. Sparkling swirls reached up and he tumbled down the proverbial rabbit hole.

There was a loud crash behind Tei'serin as Ymiden slid into the dream. He was laughing, having enjoyed the tumble into this wonderland. He jumped up, knocking his head on the tunnel ceiling. "Sorry I'm late. If I had a pocket watch, that wouldn't be a problem. I thought I might join this little tea party. Looks fun, if not a bit undersized." Ymiden reached forward to place a hand on Tei'serin for support as he ducked down and into the main room. Falling to his knees, he reached forward for one of the acorns filled with goop. He looked at their gracious host. He raised the acorn up to cheers Niv before tipping it back. It was slick and sticky, but quite tasty. As soon as he drank it, he began to shrink.

Soon, he was Niv's size. "That's much better. You two should do the same. Your host would probably appreciate it if you didn't go breaking his furniture and house with your immense size," Ymiden stated calmly, picking a chair next to the four tailed cat.

Emea. The world where anything could happen.

Sorry if I took it a little bit more Alice in Wonderland, but I was smiling the entire time. It was worth it. I will continue posting so that you all can get acquainted and meet your host for this Global plot and perhaps find out what will be requested of you. I'm looking forward to this!

Strangely his venture through the meadow and into the woods led him into this sort of tunnel like entrance, until he finally reached an spacious abode inward through the beyond. "This is so exciting!" Ri seemed to eagerly cheer as she bounced about in the air near him, their presence now graced with a dining room of a sort decorated for a gathering. It felt strange mostly because of it's designated location for one, and that it had been so well set within that location. Granted the host of the little gathering seemed to be someone he knew though, Patrick soon found the unusual sensation of the moment seem to lessen upon seeing the little wood roamer. "Well I'll be damned, never thought I'd be seein' you again Niv." He admitted with a chipper smile about himself, the sense of safety overwhelming now that the fallen beast he'd lost seemed far behind him now.

"Oh, sorry." He snickered when Ri'ku fluttered her way down to circle around Niv. "Niv this is Ri'ku, a lil' companion o' mine that nobody can see."

"Except within the Emea," She corrected as she seemed to draw closer to Niv, "I've eagerly waited for this sort of moment Niv. Pleased to meet you naturally!" Though the light of her bubble wouldn't really allow anybody to see, Niv could at least tell when the fairy drew in close to greet her with her own hug. Patrick remembered well just how fond Ri'ku had been of Niv once they had met, which felt like a long time ago even it had just been last winter.

"As for... who?" His smile drooped in utter confusion as he scratched the back of his head, his eyes briefly shot to the ceiling as he twisted to see the ones Niv referred to. He only had the one 'friend' with him as far as he knew, so to figure out that others had come in behind him intrigued him. "Don't know these two any, guess they must've wandered here like I did." He reasoned as the girl seemed to remain quiet for the most part, the man that followed in behind her seemed confidently comfortable in being here of course. Rather in a natural stride he seemed to take an acorn and sip down it's contents, so that he would shrink down a few sizes to fit a spot at the table set within the room. Patrick's eyes widened as he stood there dumb struck, just what in Idalos did he managed to find himself in? At the suggestion that he and the girl ought to do the same, he followed the lead of his predecessor and took an acorn rather cautiously.

He didn't doubt that what was inside would... hurt him maybe? Acorns were toxic to humans though weren't they? Besides what kind of shit was in this anyhow? It seemed rather pasty when he eyed it curiously, after considering just what all could go wrong he shrugged; and then tilted the acorn so that he could consume this substance. It seemed... tangy almost, but in a sweet manner. Was that sap? Did he just consume sap? The goop seemed to produce the same effect on him, the surface of his skin barely even tickled as Patrick watched his world grow in size. Naturally though it had been him shrinking down a few sizes, just like the other stranger that walked in after they did. "Wow! Now we're about the same size!" Ri cheered as Patrick felt what he could only assume was her hand, she'd guided him along to find a seat next to the stranger himself. Of course Ri'ku made sure she had been closer to Niv, likely because she'd been so eager to finally meet the little Tunawa in person.

"Well this is certainly a lil' odd." He looked to the girl that followed him inside, curious to see where she would sit before taking initiative. "Name's Patrick love, Niv and I are old friends from a while back." He looked from her to the guy that hadn't introduced himself yet, unaware that they'd been in fact graced with the presence of an Immortal. "And you both are?" He inquired as he fiddled around with a leaf that was presumably his plate in this little party.

“No one is late,” Niv replied to the mysterious man with a dismissively jovial hand gesture. “We were just waiting for more people to arrive.” No one seemed to recognize the man but he seemed familiar, Like Niv had seen his face time and time again but had forgotten. She wasn’t sure how, considering he was possibly the most handsome man the Tunawa had seen and Niv was usually good at remembering faces.

“Yes yes!” Niv explained as she clapped her hands happily. “Deh man is right, sit down! sit down! Plenty of places for everyone.” Niv drew her attention quickly to the girl who seemed lost. “Dat means you too.”

“I hoped we’d see each other again,” The Tunawa smiled a wide grin at Patrick. “I’m glad my wish came true.”

“-And hello Ri’ku.” Niv waved at the cheerful fairy as they fluttered about “I’m happy teh finally meet you too.” The tunawa smiled as she returned the hug and looked to Moop, who was continuing to hover ominously.
“Moop is invisible too, it must be hard for you both to not be seen.”
The fear spirit’s twitched and slowly turned to look at Niv before making a haunting moan of pain.
“Moop says she feels lonely sometimes.” Niv translated.

“So you don’t all know each other?” The Tunawa frowned and bit her lower lip but quickly shrugged off her confusion. “Well you’ll know each oder now.”

“Don’t forget to check them off the list SQUAK!” The Cockatoo spoke up to remind his friend.

“Oh yes!” Niv shrieked wide eyed before unraveling a dense roll of parchment. The list cascaded to the floor and continued going to only the immortals knew where. Niv’s glassy eyes narrowed in focus at the text on the paper.

“Patrick, Check! Patrick’s invisible fairy friend! Check!” She hollered before going even farther down the impossibly long list. “Aww yes here we are, Handsome man with a pocket watch! Check! Shy Sev’ryn woman with a baby sprouting in her belly” Niv paused and looked up at Tei’Serin with a pinched brow. “Is that you?”

“Okay so, I dink we should start with a game, just to get to know each oder?” Niv addressed her guests as a good hostess should. “It’s called two truths and a lie, I’ll start.” Niv bit her lip and tapped her wooden chin for a few ticks before speaking again. “Okay so, I live in a lemon tree that grows on a boat, I hate the taste of spiders and I’m 7 arcs old. One of deh tings I said is a lie but which one?” Niv gave a coy grin.

A few of the guests answered incorrectly before Quattro the cat figured out the answer. “Agh so easy, Who doesn’t like the taste of spiders?” He added smugly.

“Okay your turn.” Niv pointed her twig like finger at Tei’serin.

Tei'serin wondered when the world had stopped making any sense. Wasn't there supposed to be some kind of warning about these sorts of things? When another man appeared, and drank from an acorn, she wanted to stop him. Acorns were poisonous unless you happened to be a squirrel, and she didn't really think that this man was a squirrel in disguise. But when all he did was shrink to the size of the talking wooden doll, Tei'serin began to wonder if perhaps he was a squirrel wearing a man costume after all. The first man to arrive drank from one as well, but he too simply shrank rather than being poisoned by it. Were they both squirrels?

The man had told her that she should drink one as well, but Tei'serin hesitated. Even if both of the men were really squirrels, she knew that she wasn't one. Drinking from the acorn would likely poison her. And yet...that thought didn't really frighten her even though she knew that it should. Besides, she was thirsty, and she didn't really want to be left out of the strange party, so after a few trills, she took one as well. The liquid within was thick, but sweet, and fruity. It was quite pleasant. Her entire body began to tingle as she shrunk down to the size of the wooden doll.

Once she had finished shrinking, the man she had first seen turned to her, and introduced both himself, and the talking wooden doll. He was Patrick, and Niv, who was apparently his friend, was the doll. The man who hadn't introduced himself seemed strangely familiar, as if she had seen an image of him somewhere before. But try as she might, she couldn't remember where, nor what his name was.

"My name is Tei'serin Nji'ryn." she said softly when asked for her own name.

Tei'serin wondered who had brought the wooden doll to life, and if there were more talking wooden dolls around, but she didn't have much time to think about it. Niv decided that they should play a game where the person who was "it" had to tell the others two truths, and a lie about themselves. Then the others would have to guess which statement was a lie. It was similar to a game her students played, though she had never played it herself. Niv went first. Tei'serin was about to say that she thought the "fact" about living in a lemon tree that grew on a boat had to be a lie when the cat insisted that the lie was the part about Niv hating the taste of spiders.

She was eying the wooden doll thoughtfully, wondering what wooden dolls were supposed to eat when Niv told her that it was her turn. Tei'serin gave the matter some thought. She didn't like talking about herself with strangers. It made her deeply uneasy. But a game was a game, and she didn't want to make the others angry with her. Finally, she decided what she wanted to go with.

"I am a teacher, my favorite color is yellow, and I live on a farm."

It seemed that at least two of the ragtag group knew one another. His child, the Tunawa named Niv, and the human gentleman named Patrick had at one point been acquainted. Ymiden would even go so far to call them friends. Niv seemed, like many of his kin, to be very chipper and enjoyable. The Tunawa were very unique creatures, able to adapt to the world around them given their physical disadvantages. They had become a very hearty race. He moved his focus to the man. He seemed normal at first, but he could sense something about him that only Immortals would be able to track. There was hint of another upon his skin. He was marked, that much was for certain. It was not a mark that Ymiden was super familiar with, so without seeing it he would not be able to tell who Patrick was aligned with. The shy woman seemed a little apprehensive about joining them but soon became smaller as well. Once she had, Ymiden stood up and pulled out his chair, offering it to the lady.

"Please, Tei'serin, take my seat. I'll sit at the other end of the table." He waited patiently for her to sit before adjusting her chair inwards to the table. Then he moved to the other end of the table. "I am going to guess that the lie is living on the farm. A teach has enough work. Tending to a farm would imply that you do not get very much sleep."

Ymiden sat down at the other end of the table, waiting for her to respond. He offered a wonderful crestfallen face when she told him the correct face. "Bah. Here I am assuming things that aren't true. A lovely lady like yourself would be able to hold down a classroom and a farm. My apologies. What is that saying? Assuming makes an ass out of you and me? Yes, that's it.

"Your turn." The four-tailed cat purred, the tails waving back and forth as if it were one in slow motion.

"Very well. I will go." Ymiden leaned back in his chair, cupping his chin between his index finger and his thumb. Normally he would not be enticed into games. He was very reserved in the real world. Emea allowed him many more freedoms than his duties back on Idalos would. He would certainly have to introduce himself. That was one truth. He could outright tell them he was an Immortal but that seemed rather boring. They would figured out that was a truth once he introduced himself. His eyes rolled skyward. If there were a Sev'ryn among them, they would know his relationship with Moseke most likely. He didn't think any of them were Sev'ryn, so he could use that. Then there was the reason he had come to Emea in the first place. Yes, that would work well.

"My name is Ymiden. My lover is Audrae. I need the help of your group."
OOC
I'd like each of you to make a guess on Ymiden's two truths and a lie honestly based on how your PCs would react. He'll tell you which is the correct answer next post and I'll go into detail about what the quest is at that time as well. Any questions, let me know.

This private little gathering seemed to develop stranger and stranger as they sat down, first they were to shrink down a few sizes and then next, they were set to play a game of two truths and a sole lie. Patrick was a fan of games naturally, and played one similar to this many times as a bartender... and a drunk. At first when Niv went and with a few guesses from everyone, save Patrick, the truth came to be known for them all to understand. It seemed simple enough, though Patrick didn't like the idea of indulging personal information so openly. He might've known Niv a little sure, but even then such information could only prove leverage on him later... if he weren't careful about what he said. Tei'serin seemed to be the one who went up next, her own silence filled with careful pondering on what it was she should share.

Finally the three statements came to be spoken and left for them to decide, and while a few of the others were either bickering about the possibilities; Patrick remained yet again quieter as he watched Tei'serin a little bit more closely. Ri'ku didn't seem to pay too close attention as she too seemed occupied with the game, but overall Patrick kept himself observant while the other fellow that joined them seemed to make his guess. Either a teacher or farmer, and then the color yellow being stated in the group. The reasoning for the farming to be a lie seemed well enough but... even then the man seemed unsure about the full assurance of his claim. He changed his mind to say that perhaps, and he could've very well been right, Tei was both a farmer and a teacher perhaps. The possibility seemed likely and yet even so, the only other variable was a favorite color...

Yellow... she didn't seem like the type that pointed such things out, and from the posture in her form and roughness of her hands? Patrick could see good and well those hands were worked, and teachers didn't typically have such hands to deal with as they didn't use them for the same purpose of a farmer. "I'll wager that it's teacher actually." He suggested afterwards before the man decided to make the next turn, of course his eyes wandered around the group before they fell on Tei again. "Reason bein' is that you're too loose, too care free with yer posture actually. Teachers have a form of etiquette in their posture, even then the posture wouldn't matter because of how rough yer hands look. Roughed hand's like that means hard work which is what farmer's do, and I don't see why you'd state a favorite color when it's likely one of yer two trades aren't actually real." He shrugged afterwards with a wry grin, a few soft scratches made at the skin of his neck underneath the collar bone.

This of course would've barely revealed the silvery bite marks underneath the cloth that covered his skin, nevertheless he didn't pay any mind to the fact that someone would notice it there. The man went next with his own set of statements, two of them truth while one... a lie. As he rested his eyes on the man, he became more noticeably a figure of attraction to the bartender. Why Patrick hadn't been apt to notice this before was beyond him, but the guy who stated one truth being his name suddenly seemed very attractive to Patrick. Wait. Those names. Ymiden? Audrae? Those were very heavy names to throw onto the table, and the fact this man did so with so little reluctance created another pause in Patrick's demeanor. This man... did he just introduce himself as Ymiden? The Ymiden? As in the Immortal Himself that walked the earth? Now hold on a Trill.

Ymiden was a season to be sure, but the Immortal behind that season? Here? What was his second statement? About Audrae? Audrae who Patrick never met nor hardly heard of, just the basic everyday rumor that she despised man. Was that true? How did this came to be if Ymiden had been Her lover? That is of course IF this 'Ymiden' was in fact telling the truth. "I say bullshit." He stated bluntly to the man with little disregard for his tone. "For one; when has Immortals ever sat down and sipped tea just for fun and games. Two if ya really are Ymiden then why waste time on us puny mortals, when ya probably have better things t' do than 'ask fer our help' as you say." It was likely he came off resentful a little with the topic of Immortals, his arms crossed as he became aware of the sudden silence that developed after his little outburst.
Off Topic
Sorry this came in so late, work tends to drain me of inspiration! As for Patrick's rant at the end, people can assume he allowed them to throw guesses first before butting in the way he did. :)

Tei'serin blushed, and thanked the man as he offered her his seat. She was unused to such kindnesses, especially from men. When he guessed that her lie had been the fact that she lived on a farm, she smiled softly, but said nothing. The man who had been introduced as Patrick claimed that she couldn't be a teacher. His explanation of why he thought that made her wonder what teachers were like in larger areas. Any teacher who acted as formal as Patrick's words seemed to suggest they should would be laughed right out of Treth. At the very least, no one would respect them, and if a teacher wasn't respected, then they would have no chance of teaching their students anything.

Both men were wrong, and it seemed to her that they were wrong for similar reasons. Tei'serin waited a while to see if the wooden doll wanted to make a guess of her own before she began to speak.

"Word choice is important." she said softly.

How many times had she told her students that over the arcs? It was a valuable lesson to learn, and the students who did learn it tended to learn more than those who did not in the long run.

"I said that I lived on a farm, not that I was a farmer, or that I worked it." she added without any hint of chiding in her voice.

Admittedly, few lived on a farm who were not farmers, or the children of farmers. So it was an easy assumption to make. Even so, she could not honestly call herself a farmer. While she did her own share of the work that went into maintaining her farm, others did most of it. Sorin did what he could, and most of it was done by farmers. Younger sons who were learning their parents trade who wanted to start out working on a smaller farm to gain experience did some. Many of those were among her older students, or former students. They were paid for their efforts with a portion of her crops. Other farmers who wanted her to give their children extra lessons, or who had children who needed to be home schooled for some reason worked her farm as payment for her teaching their children.

Tei'serin glanced at her hands. Patrick had mentioned how rough they were as part of his reasoning. And he was right. Her hands were rough, and bore the brunt of arcs worth of callouses. And yet...other types of work could make one's hands just as rough. Being an herbalist was a prime example of that. Digging out stubborn roots, and other such tasks did not leave one with smooth, unblemished hands.

"While I like yellow well enough, it is not my favorite color." she said simply.

She usually wasn't the type to tell others what she liked, and didn't like. But color was a trivial enough detail that using it as a "fact" about her served as a means of not having to reveal more important personal information. The man who had offered her his seat went next, and Tei'serin's eyes went wide at what he chose to tell them. The obvious choice of a lie was his name. Patrick seemed to agree since he said as much. And yet...who would dare to claim to be an Immortal when they were not one? Surely such an arrogant claim would anger the real Immortals. It may not be likely that an Immortal would be around to hear such a claim. But even so, Tei'serin truly believed that they had a way of knowing when mortals were doing something that concerned them. Being marked by Moseke when she had never even been to Desnind was all the proof Tei'serin needed to believe that.

The next most obvious choice was that Ymiden needed their help. Why? What could they possibly do that he could not? And yet...if he really was Ymiden...there was only one possible choice.

"You love Moseke, not Audrae." Tei'serin said simply; her eyes were still wide, and her voice was little more than a whisper for daring to speak so bluntly to an Immortal.

Tei'serin was pretty sure that every Sev'ryn knew that much.
