By chance I saw the thread on Reddit while looking for ways to kill time and thought "why the hell not?" I spent the last week reading through stuff to get an idea of how I want to roll with things but the problem are way too many choices! (why must there be so many choices?!) Thankfully I narrowed my options so here's hoping I'll start soon. I only have to make the decision between something straightforward (stabby stabby) to get my feet wet or dive right with something troublesome but hopefully more versatile(scummy scummy) Shouldn't take longer than a few days (maybe...)

And, oh right the questions. Hmmmm... Nah. Let me finalize my character first and I'll think on them later.

So just take this as a "hi! I'm here." for now.

We're glad that word is getting out about the site, as yu can see, we're still very new so much is yet to be done in that vein, we're very flexible and if you have any particular concepts in mind for your character, go annoy one of the staff and they will be happy to help! My advice, at least for now, would be to pick a city with a few other players in it... so it's not too boring for you! Also, if you come across any errors or inconsistencies (or anything that is confusing) please let us know!

Thanks. Fortunately while I was looking over the cities and running over character ideas I already pinpointed Etzos (my kind of town) and Ne'haer (which sadly only one of my ideas can run with) and it looks like those two already have other players (besides Viden) so I don't have to make any last minute changes to search for other potential places of activity.

The only thing left to do now is character backstory (gah, give me any game and this is the part I hate the most) but there is at least an incentive to make something proper this time round through the approval rewards. Most of the time things like this feel like homework for extra credit (without the extra credit) which makes me feel like I'm forced to churn out something. [Approval rating +1!]

And errors and inconsistencies. Hmmmm... Well understandably this is a new site and things are still wip so I don't think there are much based on the stuff I looked at. Some things just require more diving into the resources (like the scython) if they exist at all. The only thing I've found lacking so far was information of some race called Euri (besides references that people hate them) Even the knowledge base doesn't have an entry prepared for them.

Also, Y R magic in sekrit club?!? T.T (although I'm apprehensive about playing magic nowadays so it won't affect me yet )

Until we the staff make the edits to change the name EurI in all parts of the database, assume that any reference to the Euri are instead referring to the Mer.

And arcana is a secret club (lol) for a number of reasons, several of which are to be elaborated upon in future threads. There are, however two join able (one in development) factions that teach arcana.

Interesting change. "The Mer" sounds a little less interesting but I guess anything with the word "The" placed in front of them would seem more menacing. Like some sort of collective horde which lays waste to everything. I guess my knowledge base diving wasn't good enough because the word Euri appeared in the Chrien's page (the shame!)

On the subject of arcana if you don't mind me asking 1) will the factions be the only way to learn them in the future and, 2) I found references that conduits are identifiable as some sort of crystal although form and shape differ based on creator. Are there other things which required while using them like bodily contact, held like a magic wand and waved around, being obnoxiously big like a wizard's scrying orb, etc?

Each arcana is distinct. Arcana is by no means complete yet, but each discipline has differences, with there also being different branches of arcana. Thus far, Intrinsic arcana are the most developed branch and require none of the gestures or flourishes that magic requires.

Conduits can be any size that can hold a 'well' and can be any object. A creative use is an artificer embedding a well into a glove, though rings, wands, staves, pendants, crystal orbs and whatnot are all acceptable.

PS: They're just 'Mer'. The has no place in front of the racial name, but when referencing a race one tends to use the as a prefix. Like... the Qi'ora. But yeah.

Sorry it's taken me so long to pop in and say hi but here I am! Welcome to the site, we're really excited to see you here! I see you've already started cracking away at the lore and asking some questions but I would recommend posting those questions in the Q&A Forum just in case someone else might be looking for some answers to the questions you've asked. I've already looked into the confusion with the 'Mer' and 'Euri' names and I'll be fixing that tonight, if not tomorrow. Thanks for pointing that out for us!
