I hope this letter finds you safe and well and your crew safe and obedient. I hope business is going well, wherever you might be traveling on the sea. I pray to whoever may listen that you return safely when the winds carry you back to me.

I had intended on writing to keep touch with you, but I find myself writing with intent of delivering a message. I apologize for the content. I was due for my cycle when you left. It never came. I have waited and my fellow doctors at the infirmary here have confirmed my suspicions. I’m with child.
