Below are rumours which are to be found about different areas of Scalvoris. These have been informed by a number of things from both players and prophets. There are different types of rumour:

Leads	A lead is a rumour which could lead to adventure, moderated plots, treasure, all sorts of things!
Gossip	Gossip is a rumour which might have a kernel of truth in it, or might be a lie. It could lead to really helping, or harming someone, if you act on it.
Lies	A lie is a (usually) malicious rumour which can get you, or those it is about, into all sorts of trouble. Careful!

Which is which?

So - now that you know what types of rumours there are here, how do you tell the difference? Follow them and find out! As players "claim" these rumours, I will pm them with which of the three types of rumour it is - and any other information they might need. PCs can submit rumours here, also. Templates for both below the rumours themselves.

Which Ones Can I Just Know About?

Leave that to your own common sense. If you live in Scalvoris, you might feasibly have heard about ALL of them, if you're newly arrived less so. There is no restriction on which ones you've heard of - just on how many you can pursue at any time.

How Many Can I Investigate?

If you want to investigate these rumours, you need to claim them below. No more than TWO rumours per pc at a time, please! If you haven't started / done anything with the rumour within a month, it'll go back on to the board, where it might change into something else.

AL1: "I heard tell that these attacks on Nellie's workers were done by Nellie herself. It's good for business if folks are feeling sorry for her and her staff, innit?"
AL2: "So, Jo'ne our Mayor? My uncle works for her and he tells me that one of the Pirate Lords is living with her."
AL3: "Efah from the Bones told me my fortune. She said that I'd help her find the one who's gonna replace her. Apparently, she's only got a limited time left, whatever that means."
AL4: "O'Rourke's ma doesn't look so well, but he's more worried about that cat. Weirdo."

DA1: "I heard that Elliot, he's got a new girlfriend and the Rangers are going to rot and ruin"
DA2: "There's a seamstress in Darbyton. So they say, she can make cloth which uses alchemy to make you invulnerable"
DA3: "Some of the goods arriving in Darbyton don't ever make it to the rest of the island, you know what I'm saying?"
DA4: "There's a mage in Darbyton who has one of those rupturing portals into a bank somewhere. But he needs blood to keep it open and hide him too. Dark magics, he uses."

EG1: "There's a code word that, if you say it to Liza, means she can get you stuff that's beyond your imagination"
EG2: "Tarnborg, the owner of the Lemon Messy? He's Cassion's son. No, it's true."
EG3: "One of the girls in the Two Queens has a curse on her means she kills one man in every ten she sleeps with. She's the most expensive."
EG4: "Liza's looking for folks to quietly take out the Watchers' Union. There's good coin, if you can get the job and do it"

GU1: "Don't cross Shania. If you do, you end up dead, sometimes twice."
GU2: "I know how it sounds, right, but I swear that I saw this Mer going into the barracks in the dead of night. Why?"
GU3: "Shania's such a nice lady! I heard that she's opening an orphanage in Gunvorton"
GU4: "Anything's available here. For a price - and that isn't always in nel, you know what I mean?"

Havardr[/color]]

Rumour	Outcome
HA1: "There's a series of underground tunnels beneath Havardr, connecting it to Viden. They steal children and sell them to the Videnese."
HA2: "Linca doesn't know what to do, the whales are dying off and half of those he catches are completely rotten as soon as he takes them out of the water. We're all going to starve!"
HA3: "They're breeding a new type of walrus in Harvardr. They say it's gonna be an attack walrus. What?"
HA4: "No one knows what, but Linca talks about some affront to the Immortals when he's in his cups. He says they'll have their revenge on him."

ST1: "Hey, that guy who owns the Spirit of Adventure? You know that no one has ever seen him outside that shop? Like, no one. Ever"
ST2: "There's a human bloke called Jim who is actually the one in charge of the town. I'm not joking, he's got all the power."
ST3: "The Immortals walk in the Temple, you know. Stan is some kind of conduit to them."
ST4: "I heard that our Mayor is actually an agent for the Eternal Empire, you know."
ST5: "There's a secret group who run out of Scalvtown. They don't want the university or the visitors or all these scientists on the island. Scalvoris for Scalvorians!"
ST6: "A boy at the orphanage burnt to death in his bed. I hear there's a girl looking for someone to help her get revenge on those responsible."

Faldrass[/color]]

Rumour	Outcome
FA1: "The people on the resort aren't people, exactly. They're some weird experiment by Necromancy to create the perfect being"
FA2: "There are these big snakes under Faldrass, they're like boulder snakes, but they've been changed somehow. There's two of them and if they leave, the whole place will just fall into the water."	What's going on here!?
FA3: "Serenity Garden has a dark secret. I tell you, my aunty, Mabel, she went there and she came back talking about the power of the Immortals. It's well weird.
FA4: "Forbick is a mortalborn, you know. Son of Faldrun, he is. Place is even named after him. It's obvious, innit?"
FA5: "The market on Faldrass is a cover for a much shadier kind of market, if you know what I mean. Slave trade central, it is."
FA6: "There's an old ruined tower on Faldrass and they say that it's a place where anyone can talk to the dead and they've got to answer."

Immortals' Tongue[/color]]

IT1:"Reza has been here since before the Pirate Lords and they arrived 100 arcs ago. She's not human."
IT2:"There's a different Immortal here every trial. There's always one of them, you know"
IT3:"This place is somewhere where Emea and Idalos meet, somehow. It's weird."	Pash investigated this LEAD but it is not yet solved. Still open!
IT4: "The couriers of Lisirra were created by Moseke, you know."
IT5: "There's a series of connected catacombs under Immortals' Tongue, with shrines to Immortals no one knows about. They're called the Forbidden and they're bad, bad news."	This is a LIE but what's the truth!?

Ishallr[/color]]

IS1: "There's something deep in the waters underneath Ishallr, you know. It sings."
IS2: "The university shouldn't be messing around in those Ice Caves. There's all sorts of weird stuff going on there."
IS3: "Do you know Zach, the guy running the exploration of those caves? Well I heard that he never sleeps, that's not normal is it?"
IS4: "Whenever some group comes to explore the caves, someone dies. There's always a price, it's always paid."

Mountains[/color]]

Rumour	Outcome
SM1: "The mountain tribes were here long before anyone else. They understand the secrets of the island."
SM2: "There's plants on the mountains which can cure anything, you know."
SM3: "Those mountains aren't solid rock, they're build like honeycomb and there's tens of thousands of the tribes running around."
SM4: "The Pirate Lords haven't left. They've moved to the mountains, just waiting till it's time to come back."

Scaltoth Jungle[/color]]

Rumour	Outcome
SJ1: "There's a fountain deep in the jungle which has magic properties. Water of eternal life, you know."	A LEAD claimed by Tio. Thread
SJ2: "The jungles have all sorts of tribes in them, healers and witches, all sorts."	[Claimed by Amaris
SJ3: "There are areas in the jungles where the air is so toxic, no one ever comes out."
SJ4: "They say that there's the ghost of a lost hunter roaming the jungle. He devours any he finds, because he's always hungry. But he eats dreams. Once you've met him you never dream again and become less and less human."

The Tower[/color]]

TT1: "No one who goes in there ever comes out, have you noticed?"
TT2: "I've seen weird lights coming from there at night. Like, really weird. Not good."
TT3: "It's where they take the slaves to experiment on them. There's scientists in there trying to make the supreme mortal to kill the Immortals, you know. That's why the university's come, really."
TT4: "The Tower? Yeah, it's like a cork on a bottle that. It's about keeping something in. No one knows what, but it is."

Watch[/color]]

Rumour	Outcome
WA1: "The whole thing with Watch is just an experiment in human behaviour, you know."
WA2: "There are hundreds of people living on Watch, silly, and a fleet of invisible ships, too."
WA3: "The guard on Watch is told a secret no one else knows. That's why they give him the alcohol. It's because he wants to try and forget."
WA4: "Watch and the Tower are linked, you know, under the water and beneath the island. There isn't one person on there, there's a stream of them."

How are you going to start investigating? Firstly, Merces will see the tower as he passes by, and become curious. The moment he begins questioning sources the rumor will come. As a result of the rumor, Merces will be forced by his own curiosity to investigate, and venture to the tower on his own.
