It was not a comfortable time of rest for any of them. For Lakia the breaks passed in a bit of a blur. However, as long as she kept taking sips of water and nibbles of food, by the time she woke up she felt better. Not great, not by a very long stretch, but her body had started to make the blood she had lost, the raft had held and the warm Faldrass sand had held the hypothermia at bay.
Now, in fairness, she still felt absolutely awful, was in a lot of pain and prone to feeling light headed. However, compared to how she was before she rested, it was a vast, vast improvement.
Amaris had an issue, of course, in the fact that the bottom of her boot no longer existed and the floor was covered in goo and far, far too cold for her to walk barefoot. Jackson's lower half was around somewhere, and he had been wearing a pair of perfectly good boots. Maybe they were still there if anyone wanted to look. Also, Amaris had spent the time with a highly unpleasant taste in her mouth which meant that the new dawn (or whatever time it actually was) found Amaris feeling highly nauseous, a little bit dizzy and unable to face eating.
Padraig felt the same symptoms arising from the unpleasant taste in his mouth, it might reasonably appear that the pair of them were experiencing the side effects of some strange toxin or another. When they had settled down, Padraig had checked on Niv and found the small Tunawa fast asleep in the waterfall, covered in yellow goo which had obviously splattered over her. No amount of trying to wake her up worked, so she was going to need to be put into a pocket for safety.
Then, of course, there were a few questions to be answered as they got ready to move. Where were they going to go? What were they going to do? Where was Arwel? None of them knew exactly when they had lost him, which was not ideal.
Now that the time had passed, the acid had burned or melted or been diluted away in the snow and ice on the ground which meant that, after rest was much easier for Niv than before it. The purple spiders were all dead and the white ones were all gone. The ceiling had not caved in any further and the lake, should they look over there again?
Well the lake was frozen again.
And the face in the ceiling was back.
