When Padraig told her that they were going to be using a thermo-reversible gelling agent called methylcellulose, Faith looked at him and laughed. She still didn't laugh often but this one came from her toes. "Oh! Well, silly me. I should have known that!" Shaking her head Faith determined there and then that this was going to be the 'cold food hot stuff' as far as she was concerned.
She had to admit, though, she was impressed. "You made this from vegetables?" Turned out, from the fibers of vegetables and plants, quite a number of them. Faith shook her head in surprise and delight at this man, the man she was going to marry. "People will taste my food and credit me for your genius, you know." He didn't mind, and he didn't believe it either, yet it was true. Faith didn't doubt it, not for a moment, but Padraig didn't see how amazing what he did was, she knew.
Tasting it, she considered briefly and nodded. "There's not taste, you're right. The texture is a little odd" Faith closed her eyes, concentrating on the texture. "It won't make a difference, though, not in the quantities we're using it." She smiled at him and nodded. "Alright, so I'll make the ice cream, then we're ready to go?" It was a project for his Chemistry Diploma, yes, but Faith could not deny that he had helped her in the restaurant too.
Making the ice cream was not an issue for her, at home she had a "cool box" which she'd made by the simple expedient of using some green sand. She could store the ice cream in there over night and then, the next trial they would have killed three birds with one stone. He had a final project for his chemistry diploma, some teaching tools for his physics classes and she had ice cream which was hot.
As they cleared everything up from their work, Faith considered that it had been a productive trial.
