This is the place to both submit your application for a job, AND to come crawling for mercy when you've slaved away for a season and clung to the foolish notion that I will reward you with a fair season's wage for a fair season's work.

If you're going to be that way, I can only hope you've checked the Professions Page, and taken note of the skills one must have to qualify for any given job. When a profession lists jobs separated by a "/", it means you only need to have one of the skills listed. If, however, the jobs are listed with the word "and", you guessed it, you must have some training in all of them.

If you are looking to collect wages, it would help to check the Job Threads, Professions and Wages Guide. It will help you understand what all will gain you bonuses to the basic wage your job earns, as well as the taxation costs based on your wage bracket.

For your convenience, and to help me line my pockets, here is the chart to help you calculate the debits to be inflicted upon you.

0gn – 4gn per day = Beggar x N/A
5gn – 10gn per day = Poor x .05
11gn – 30gn per day = Commoner x .10
31 – 50gn per day = Luxury x .15
51gn+ per day = Aristocracy (& Blackmail Victim) x .20

As a merc, I believe your Unarmed Combat can count as a weapon skill.
This will give you an additional 2gn skill bonus to your wages.
But yes, sorry, none of this matters until your CS is formally approved.
It occurred to me that you could be hired as a merc by most of the human factions there.
Some of them would definitely NOT want it known though.
