Appearance

As a member of Rynmere's nobility, Idgaffe Endor dresses for the occasion. This is even more important given the fact he's the eventual heir to his House and his every action will be scrutinised by those around him. While no doubt this is troublesome to the Endors, the family at least ensures the man is present in Endor colours for those public functions he's expected to attend, so none would think another foul incident struck him again and thus present the house as being weak. Other than that, Idgaffe only has to make sure he doesn't diminish the station of the Endors through his escapades; something the barbarians of Krome ought to learn.

There are times however, that Idgaffe needs things done which the eventual heir can't be connected to. It's therefore favourable to him that with his own reputation in his home, it's easy for him to exceed expectations and make use of the resulting disbelief at that infamous wacky Endor's impairment to achieve his goals; if not present himself as someone other than that same image he has built over the arcs. This has proven to be effective multiple times over as even his own well-maintained body from his privileged lifestyle is easily overlooked by those searching for signs of the peculiarities he's known for.
Personality

Idgaffe is known to speak his mind even if he knows he might overstep his bounds which is of course, a boon one entitled to one known to others as a fool; especially one of his blood. This is nothing more than a ruse for the Idgaffe who decided long ago he'd do whatever he had to and wished regardless of what is expected of the young noble. It's even more effective than he imagined as even those scandalous Andaris have to play by the rules despite their indulgent lifestyle.

Despite the reputation he made for himself, Idgaffe is a thoughtful person and like other Endors usually has his thoughts on how to best profit from any given situation. Practically this mindset is impotent as like the Andaris, the Endors have to act with propriety which matters because they would have to consider the consequences of the means they would employ. Idgaffe however discovered his reputation in Rynmere allows him to act beyond propriety and practically whenever he needed to as; it's not only the Endors who share the view that only a fool would truly think of the consequences of their actions towards others at their own expense.

Unfortunately even with the advantages Idgaffe has come to appreciate, being known for a fool also means he has to put up with the judgement of those who look down on him. It would be something which would have otherwise devastated Idgaffe had he not learned that the only opinion which was of importance, was his own. Of course it was only because he a noble that he was bestowed the opportunity to realise this, which also helped his pursuit of improving himself towards his endgame.

Eventually...

But it's still a ways to go until it was time for Idgaffe Endor to show the world who he really is.
History

Like most of Rynmere's young nobles, Idgaffe Endor was promised the world and provided with anything he'd need for it. Other than his blood, the one thing which allowed him to stand out from the rest of the common stock were the incidents. These were not just incidents which befell him, rather, incidents the boy walked away from unaffected. Even so, everyone who knew of It eventually gave him a reputation as the child of misfortune for the other children to avoid; nothing about being the unnaturally fortuitous child for coming out of those incidents unharmed. The young Endor thought nothing of it. If nothing bad ever happened, why the worry?

It was inevitable that he adopted a care less attitude on the consequences and took more risks as he grew older. The incidents which surrounded him started to increase at a worrying rate; there was no one able to instil in him any common sense. The other youths, even the children, would think twice before going down a poorly lit tunnel. The hopeful adults who joined the military which Idgaffe admired just like the other children, would even pause the first time they took up a weapon. On the other hand, even though he had been hurt by them because of how he mishandled them, the young Endor never ever hesitated a chance to toy with another one of those dangerous implements.

Making Idgaffe a squire to a knight or skyrider was one of the plans Ted Endor had to ingrain some restraint in his son where judgment failed; a skill which would prove invaluable to the eventual heir. Unfortunately before it was set into motion, disaster struck the young Endor. It eventually became the cautionary tale used by the old wives of the duchy, of the Endor who ran with his luck too fast that he reached the end of it. It was the only explanation the uneducated lowborns could have reached for the incident, that Idgaffe spent all his good luck early on in his life that only the bad remained.

It was that incident itself which allowed the Endors to realize what went on with Idgaffe. It culminated in quite the audacious attempt on Idgaffe when he attended the first of the important functions the heir was expected to attend on behalf of the Endors. This proved premature as the youth eventually grew bored and decided to take a breather with his pet dog Rock, gifted to him on his birthday arcs before. That was when he had been approached by the creep in a mask; a mask so grotesque as if made up of many different faces and bones, that Idgaffe almost overlooked the oddities of the creep. He looked sick, but more menacing monster than pitiable man to the young Endor.

Coupled with Rock's loud barks to warn its master Idgaffe should have realized something was wrong but true to his nature, he'd rather be captivated by the hideous freak and believed the knives the man juggled was part of a performance. The Endor even refused to take the hint when the man said "nothing personal kid," and finally only understood the perilous situation he was in after two knives were shot past the sides of his head to cut him off. It wasn't the knives which got him though, but the strange motion the man made to point at the boy and release a bright, crackling projectile out of nowhere which filled him with pain; pain so intense Idgaffe couldn't help but scream.

Only the pain filled his mind and Idgaffe couldn't see or feel the changes to his body. He would have been taken to the point of no return if not for Rock which bit on the man's hand and interrupted him from whatever it was... Idgaffe writhed in pain and rolled on the floor to try and stop it while he crashed into anything and everything around him. An oddity later discovered from the investigations was there being a lot less damage than there should've been like the lone vase which stood among the smashed remnants. The immediate concern of those attracted by the commotion however, was with the boy and whatever ailment it was which afflicted him.

Before the new arrivals attracted by the noise could subdue the man, Rock was already thrown off and on the ground which stunk of burnt dog flesh and then the man vanished, as if spirited away by some higher power. After the shock wore off, the witnesses rushed to Idgaffe who still screamed in pain but it seemed the worst of it was over though Idgaffe still needed medical attention.

None of those present could tell what happened without sounding mad, nor would they after Ted cried bloody murder. At the age of 15 the young Idgaffe Endor changed. He no longer was the energetic youth who yearned for excitement and discovery. Instead, he was hidden away from the dangerous world outside. This arrangement suited the Endors just fine as they didn't want to risk another attempt on Idgaffe's life until the would-be assassin was found and even had a guard with him as a precaution. No further attempts were made on the young heir although, no one ever found out anything about those responsible for the attack.

Idgaffe was seen to by every single expert, even the hacks, over the next few arcs but they proved useless as none of them could tell what was wrong with him. He still limped around and refused to speak which troubled the Endors once the rumours the heir was touched in the head as a result of the attack started to spread. The Endors lost any confidence that Idgaffe would return to normalcy and decided to put their efforts into grooming their next child instead. Either Idgaffe's bad luck would catch up to him and he would no longer be an issue or he'd recover and the Endors would have two children to ensure the dynasty's longevity.

The answers to their trouble came in a man called Bartholomew. Though his family name was not provided which would have hinted the elder Endors to the man's origins, they immediately knew the man held promise as he didn't even try to haggle or bargain for his services. With nothing to lose, Bartholomew did some weird ritual with Idgaffe in private along with some drills after to no success. By his own admission it was unusual, but Idgaffe found the man's confidence in his confrontation with the young Endor on his ailments much more unusual. Idgaffe didn't know how the man saw through his ruse and decided to maintain his silence. Regardless, after a few more breaks with the man he cracked under the pressure and told Bartholomew the whole truth about faking it.

In the end, it still wouldn't change a thing even if he admitted it to Bartholomew because Idgaffe wasn't going to admit to it his family; that he believed crippling himself both physically and mentally, so to speak, would protect him from further attempts on his life. Promised a home and position in Endor if he successfully assisted the family with their troubles, Bartholomew wasn't going to have it and the two were at an impasse- even if he exposed it all to Ted there would be no proof without Idgaffe's cooperation. As he already awakened the spark in Idgaffe in the attempt to get him walking, something he realized was no longer necessary, Bartholomew offered to teach him how to use it. A method to protect him better than whatever scheme he could employ.

To sweeten the deal Bartholomew would even help the young Endor get over the attack if he agreed to provide the Endors some result even if it was for show, although Idgaffe was going to have to trust him- it would be something which would take a significant amount of time. The fearful Idgaffe still wouldn't accept the arrangement, not until Bartholomew gave a little taste of the things he would teach Idgaffe and filled him in with what suspected was used by the assassin in the attempt. In the end, Idgaffe was assured he could still play dumb- no one would care anyway as long as he appeared physically whole the moment Bartholomew presented the Endor back to his family. At the very least, his unrevealed soundness of mind would be something he could fall back on if he ran into trouble.

The miraculous return of Idgaffe was received joyfully by the duchy, even if it was apparent he wasn't entirely there; most nobles by reputation didn't seem too act smart to begin with. With the Hone taught by Bartholomew, he was able to show he was more than recovered for any physical task and Ted using whatever favors he could had Idgaffe end up in Endor's guards. It was the best choice although it was not made according to Idgaffe's own capabilities; the position would ensure Idgaffe would be out of danger compared to if the dullard was left to his own devices and be surrounded by other guards most of the time.

An arrangement which seemed too advantageous for him just because of some disability which also meant Idgaffe had to participate in the family business, to contribute back for the benefits he received, which wasn't too good for his cover. In fact, it wasn't too beneficial for the Endors either as Idgaffe felt the only way he could maintain his cover was to fail and fail memorably. The family seemed troubled by Idgaffe again and it wasn't until Bartholomew pointed out the apparent disability could be used beneficially that Idgaffe was able to salvage whatever goodwill his family had for him. With success when it mattered most, Idgaffe was able to justify why he was still the heir even as he played the fool. He was no idiot, no matter what the people of Endor thought about him.
