Anna was staring and Elyna approached, “I made a mistake,” she assured Emily's younger sister, “It wasn’t his body they found...and now he’s back.”
“Elsie has her father back?” Anna had tears in her eyes and embraced the noblewoman. “Oh, my Lady, that’s amazing.”
Elyna could only continue smiling as Anna excused herself, “we’ll take care of the terror today, thank you, Anna.”
The blonde woman was quick to vanish out the door and Elyna dropped down onto the bed. Staring at the carnage that only a toddler could create in an almost empty room. Her sewing kit was pulled out, and from experience the Skyrider knew that somewhere, Anna would have hidden the needles and snips, anything that could hurt the child. The question was where, and how long would it take her to find them? She told herself that it didn’t matter, that there were more important things than sewing today.
She watched Malcolm struggling with the toddler and where he perhaps expected sympathy, she only laughed. “Oh nothing is wrong, my love,” The skyrider edged back on the bed and put her feet up, careful to keep her boots overhanging the edge.
“This is your daughter, remember, sweet little Elsie with a mind of her own?” The young woman let Malcolm suffer a while, because he’d never seemed to believe that their daughter was a terror behind an angelic face. When she did stand, she approached the pair of them and pressed kisses to her daughter's face, then blew raspberries against her belly through her gown. The pathetic winging cries were quick to turn to laughter and the skyrider raised a brow, unimpressed.
Then she kissed Malcolm on the stubbly cheek and nuzzled against him. Her little family was complete once more, “she just missed you,” Elyna whispered, “she’s been crying for you…”
