Waiting, it was always more waiting, Xander had waited his whole life and now Celeste suggested again that he wait. He would not live forever and nor would he have a claim over Krome forever, The people would forget his name, his face and his actions. The longer he waited to act after marrying Celeste the less support he would be able to muster, of course he understood her view of the fact that most other houses would unite against him but was that not why he met the people he did. Had he not allied himself with Hunter Gawyne and Alistair Venora to try and find a way to avoid all other sex nations opposing him. It was certainly one of the reasons he was happy to be marrying Celeste, especially before he realised how he felt about her.
Apparently he had misunderstood her questioning about their new neighbour, it appeared his mistake had irritated her. He could see it in her eyes as she backed up from him that she was frustrated and also confused. He too was unsure how to react to this all, for the first time he really did feel like the wolf pup Celeste called him. He had always been so sure of himself before she came along. "I will not say them then." His own confusion was more than evident, he could not understand what he had done to upset her. He knew women were sensitive, then again so were men, it might just have been that he had missed something.
He looked at her lost eyes, the brown hues an obvious indication to her muddled mind. Then it al became clear in the words she spoke, her response and her confusion. It was clear to him too why he felt so conflicted, since she came along he had been second guessing himself no end not to mention his wondering whether he really wanted the right thing.
"Secrets are secrets, Celeste, they are not as important as you. I can assure you that I am in control of my political affiliations with Alistair Venora. I am certainly at no risk at this current time." He moved over and sat beside her, his face was calm again and his composure returned. His mind was still foggy and muddled but he could think clearly enough now. He took her hand and gently massaged her palm. "I too never thought it possible, I didn't even believe in it and yet we have it. It is here and it is strong, strong enough to make me wonder whether what I have believed near my whole life is right." He swallowed his nerves and looked at her, straight into her deep and emotional eyes.
He took one long blink and then spoke his final absolute for the trial. "I do not think it Celeste, I know it. The truth can be hard to see, our mind can block it from surfacing and make us believe we are mad to think of it. Yet, I know deep down it is true, even when my mind tells me it is foolish to allow someone so much power over me. I think you know it too, you just have to let it be true and then we can be no stronger partnership. We could be the couple that change the whole of Rynmere, the ones to accomplish what no other has." He finished by gently kissing her wrist, his lips pressing against the veins and tendon that ran through it.
