Well, my boy,
There has always been hostility between Etzos and Rhakros, and Sirothelle as well.
But Sirothelle has not really been involved in anything major recently. Mal is right though, they did try to capitalize on the distraction.
But last Vhalar, the Global Event took place, which was a massive global attack by shadow creatures created by Aelig, Lisirra and Syroa, to draw attention away from their real goal of breaking into Treid's tomb in Oscillus.
I won't go into those bloody details, but will say that due to Lisirra's hatred of Etzos, they decided to make it the target of their "test run" of the creatures effectiveness. So Etzos was beset by the things a season or so earlier than everyone else, and since there was no word of anyone else being hit by the creatures, they took it very personally.
Naturally, they assumed Rhakros was behind it. And when the three Immortals launched the full global assault, it took a lot of the force away from what was crushing Etzos. The Etzori got an attitude of having
"prevailed against the worst Lisirra could throw at them" and mustered a counter attack, laying a fine siege to Rhakros while Lisirra was away.
When they found out that Rhakros was not at nearly full strength; and that Lisirra would be returning to recover from the grievous wounds she suffered in Oscillus, they pulled out. They set up the network of small walled towns to act as first-line-of-defense and early-warning-system, and are trying to place an above-average number of mages in the garrisons there, figuring on the unconventional warfare they will be facing from the forces of the
'Queen of Insects and Pestilence'.
There is really only one thread directly involving the
siege of Rhakros. It was an option, but most folks had other stuff going on. Nor are there that many
directly involving shadow creatures in Etzos. But there are a few.
I Spy with my Raven's Eye - this shows it is prior to Vhalar; that Ezos got hit with them sooner than most.
Shaodw Lands, Umbra Skies - Mal and Night, fighting them in the wilds.
A Dance of Doubt and Hope - The fight following Mal and Night back to the city.
But this was the big one,
Run For Your Life.
Mostly, threads made
mention of these events, as reasons for this or that action or attitude.
The actual Global event, for those in the Etzos area,
Started Here, continued
here, and finished
here, with a few spin-offs, one of which is still going on.
