17th Cylus

A pounding in her head.

Edalene loved wine. Everyone knew this. Aeodan especially knew this, as he had had to deal with a drunken Edalene coming home from the bar far too many times to count. For her sickly brother, her love of the drink - always red, the colour of blood - was a source of bemusement, but he always took it in stride, making sure to put her to bed and lay a glass of water by her pillow for the morning, when she would surely need it.

This morning though, there was no glass of water. But there was warmth.

Odd, for Cylus, when the weather was consistently freezing and little light made its way through the frozen windowpanes. But there was no denying that her bed was warmer than usual. Groaning, Edalene turned over, sitting up in bed. "Oh gods," she muttered to herself, the room spinning. Clearly, too much wine.

Wait. Still cold. She glanced down at herself, her gaze blurry... Naked? Why was she naked in the middle of Cylus, when it was suicide to wear anything other than the warmest of clothes? Had she been that drunk she'd divested of her clothes? Would Aeodan have let her do that? Shaking her head, she moved to pull the blanket from the bed and wrap it around her, but it stuck. She tugged harder, and still, it did not move. Sighing, she turned her head to the bed...

and froze.

A person. There was a person in her bed. Not just a person, but a man. A real life man. Her head spun, and she stood up in a hurry, moving to get away from the bed. With a crash, her foot catching in the blanket, she tumbled to the cold floor, everything exposed.

"Fuck!"

Duncan grumbled groggily, half stirred from sleep by the cool prick of air down one side, and a throbbing in his temple. The hangover was nothing new, something he woke up with more time's than not, but the cold was something he couldn't ignore, and knew he wouldn't be able to settle back into slumber until he was warm again. He rolled sleepily, seeking out the warmth that he'd been pressed against moments before, one arm reaching out across the bed to find it. He wasn't particularly surprised when his hand drifted across soft, smooth skin, and without missing a beat Duncan wriggled forward, pulling the blanket back over him with his free hand and pressing himself against his partner's back, happy enough to go right back to sleep.

It was not to be however, and he was jarred back to consciousness as the woman shifted and sat, mumbling quietly for a moment. Sighing Duncan turned over onto his back, raising a hand to scrub at his eye's, finding it difficult enough just to peel them open and glanced over. She was looker, that was for certain, her thick brown hair a mess, tangled over pale shoulders. For a moment Duncan scoured his mind for the last time he'd slept with a woman. It'd been a while, certainly, as of late he'd focused his attention on his own sex, having found a weakness for the tall, dark handsome type. Duncan stopped that thought before it could continue, as it only brought to mind the man who'd caused such an interest in the first place, and he'd rather not sour the mood with those sad memories The warrior raised a brow, and flinched when the woman scrambled backward, tangling herself in the blankets and sliding off of the bed with a loud thud. With a groan, Duncan pushed himself up into a seated position and scooted closer, peering down at his bed mate.

"Fucks right, darling..." He all but crooned, a lascivious grin spreading over his face as he leant over the side of the bed, eye's lingering appreciatively over the woman's body, holding out his hand after a moment in order to help her back up onto the bed. Not for a moment did Duncan consider asking her name, or if she remembered any of the night before. Instead he winked, smile lopsided and eye's gleaming cheekily. "How about another round before I go?"

Eda gaped as the man pushed himself into an upright position. His bare chest rippled in the dark Cylus light, his lavicious gleam glinting white. He was handsome: no doubt about that. Dark hair, dark eyes... exactly Eda's type. But it had been eons since she had invited a man to her bed; so long, in fact, she had forgotten she had ever been attracted to them. His long fingers danced towards her, offering a hand towards her, and on instinct alone, she scooted further away from the bed.

Another round? Blushing, Edalene brought the blanket even closer around her, covering her chest from the gaze of this (far too handsome) man, before she could even wrap her head around what he was saying. She coloured angrily at his sweeping gaze - ignoring that she, too, had returned the gaze, sweeping over his body. Edalene preferred women, undoubtedly. But a man's body, particularly a specimen such as this, could be a welcome change.

Oh, gods. Women.

Melody.

Thoughts of the smiling, demure woman filled her mind. What had she done? Her mind racing, she stared at the man in her bed, her mouth agape in slight horror. Oh gods. She could never tell Melody. Never.

Standing awkwardly, ensuring the blanket stayed around her as she stood, making sure her nakedness was covered - but taking care to avoid his own, she glared directly at him. Her eyes would not - could not - dip below his face. Her cheeks hot, she cleared her throat.

"Another round?" she asked, her voice cracking with sleep and drink. The room swayed as she stood - still drunk, then. Gods. "Gods, how much did we have last night?" A demand. She would not address his inappropriate comment. Gods. No, she wouldn't.

But he was very beautiful...

Duncan couldn't restrain his amused smile as he watched the woman rise to her feet, pulling the rest of the planket off of the bed to wrap around herself. Couple that with the glare he'd been pinned with, and Duncan was slightly confused, but mostly dissapointed that his view of her body had been cut off. "You had quite a lot." Duncan snorted with a shake of his head, thinking over the multiple empty bottles they'd shared. "But you kept up pretty well, though you're only a slight thing, so it hit you a fair bit harder, I'd say." He smirked, taking it as a small victory that he'd at least managed to wake with most of his memories of the night before intact. He was a fair bit baffled by her reaction to him being in her bed however, but he shrugged it off, simply taking it as a combination of shock and the mind numbing of a hangover.

The ex-mercenary shivered, casting his gaze around the room in search of his clothing. Bits and pieces were strewn all over the place, and he instead turned his attention back to the woman and the blanket, eyeing her a tad jealously. "So you're not gonna help warm me up?" He tried one last time, expression hopeful. "How about you at least lend me some of that blanket? Before I freeze my balls off, eh?" Duncan stood and took a step towards the woman without a hint of self consciousness, combing his mind for any memory of her name. "I doubt you remember me telling you last night--" He paused a moment, suddenly wondering if the two of them had even exchanged names before they'd fallen into bed together, and coming up blank. "But I'm Duncan. You are..?" He paused a moment to await her answer, before slipping even closer to seize the end of the blanket, tugging playfully.

Edalene's glower only intensified at the man's clear amusement in this predicament. "I'm sorry," she snapped. "Do you think this is funny?" She gestured between their two bodies, her cheeks flaming red. "Maybe this happens to you all the time, but this is definitely a first for me, so I'd appreciate it if you took it seriously. Fucking hell."

"And fuck you, I'm betting you were the one who drank too much," she said, indignantly crossing her arms across her chest, doing her best to cover the obvious curves beneath the woollen blanket. She was starting to shiver, though, as much as she didn't want to share the bed with this strange man. Bed was the warmest place. Sidestepping his hand that he reached out, Edalene moved quickly and sat gingerly on the bed, making sure to stay out of the range of his hands. Blushing, she kicked the blanket out from under her, making sure to cover his - perhaps still interested - manhood. The blush would definitely not be going anywhere any time soon. "There," she muttered. "Take the damn blanket." She still kept the majority of it to cover her torso.

"I knew that,"
Edalene protested when he introduced himself - though to be honest, she had no memory of his name or how they came to her bed. She did not remember his name, nor conversation they made. She remembered vaguely sitting with him, laughing, oh gods - flirting. But how they came from the bar to her home was a mystery. Shaking her head, Edalene was determined to hold the moral high ground. "What, have so much drink you forgot who you slept with?" At these words, she blushed again, but held her chin high with a fire of indignation in her eyes.

The womans mood was definitley not what he'd expected it to be, and so he was at a bit of a loss as to how he should react, blinking slowly at her. Did she say a 'first'? He wondered confused, face twisting unpleasantly at the thought. Duncan cleared his throat and glanced around the room, attempting to get his words in order. "I, uh, I'm sorry if I made you feel belittled." He started, a large hand raising to scratch at the back of his neck. "A woman's first time is very, uh..." Very what!? Do you even remember your own first time, you dope!? He scolded himself, shaking his head. "Special?" Duncan trailed off uncertainly, wondering what else to add before the woman spoke again, stopping him in his tracks.

"Me!?" He exclaimed, pointing at his own chest, clearly offended. "You think you could drink me under the table!?" He snorted, hands flying to sit on his hips, expression clearly incredulous. "A little thing like you? No chance!" He grumbled, though his gaze still trailed her as she moved back towards the bed. She sat, and finally offered Duncan some of her blanket. Shivering he accepted it hurriedly, moving forward to join her, sitting down and pulling his half up over his body.

"Yeah, sure you knew, Miss Light-weight." He teased, subtly shifting closer to her. He didn't exactly appreciate her personality so far, but she was still a gorgeous woman who he'd had fantastic sex with the night before, and so Duncan felt an unavoidable pull towards her. "And it's not that I forgot, maybe I just don't care about your name? Huh? Think of that?" He blurted hurriedly, determined to one up the woman.

All of a sudden, the man stilled, his eyes widened like a frightened deer. Edalene watched him suspiciously, before releasing a most unladylike snort at his words. "No, you dolt," she protested. "Not my first time first time. Just my first time waking up with an imbecile I don't recognise." Her eyes widened, realising what she had said. "Not that I... don't know who you are. I obviously remember you." Scowling, she glared at her palms, determined to ignore the man's smirking face.

She drew a breath in sharply through her nose, stiffening as Edalene felt the man shift even closer, body heat emanating from the handsome man beside her. Given that she had shared the blanket with him, more of her skin now was exposed than before. Why did this have to happen in Cylus? Why not Saun, when there would be no need to share any blanket with a man for warmth? Her cheeks still flamed a fiery red, and that, and the man beside her were the only sources of warmth.

She snorted at the man's ridiculous statements. Besides herself, she could not avoid entering into banter with the man, even acknowledging the ridiculousness and the danger of the situation. For fucks' sake, there was something there with Mel, and she couldn't ... she couldn't stay faithful. Even this early. But fuck that. She forced all of those feelings from her mind, focused on responding to the ridiculous man.

"Well, I distinctly remember you insisting we leave the bar because you couldn't handle that last bottle of wine, not me. So who's the lightweight now, huh?" Her body kept turning towards him, and she realised their faces were far too close - but still, she did not pull away. In for a penny, in for a pound.

"And please, you definitely care about my name. If the way you were moaning it last night is anything to go by." Not that she could remember if he was doing that last night. But still, winning this battle of words was more important than the truth. At least for now.

Duncan couldn't help but laugh when he realised his misunderstanding, passing a hand over his face in relief. Thank gods! He thought to himself, grinning. The last thing I need is some girl fawning after me just because I'm her 'first' Despite his thoughts he highly doubted Edalene would be one to so such a thing, even if Duncan had been the one to take her virginity. He was quickly seeing now that she was quite the force, sassy and argumentative. Duncan appreciated it, having dealt with more than enough timid and delicate woman to last him a life time. He was a rough man, and the last thing he needed was to be carefully stepping around easily hurt feelings.

Duncan shook his head, expression incredulous at Eda's next words, yet only mildly annoyed. For the most part he was enjoying himself, appreciating both the banter and the beautiful woman before him. His motivation for leaving the bar with Eda at least was clear in his memory. "No, I suggested we leave because I wanted to fuck you." He argued, pleased when she didn't move away from him and taking it as encouragement to move even closer, his hand reaching out under the blanket and finding the smooth skin of her thigh. "Why don't we test that theory with an encore, eh?" He suggested cheekily, leaning closer than ever to speak into her ear, his other hand coming up to curl around her slender waist. "See who moans whose name the most?"

Edalene snorted again at his blunt words, shaking her head at Duncan, his shit eating grin spread lazily across his face. She didn't feel any need to pretend she was something she wasn't around this man, as the mistake had already been made. Besides. She would never see him again after this morning; of that much she was sure.

"You begged to leave the bar. But I can't really blame you for wanting to fuck me." Bold. Edalene smirked at the man, and even wider when she felt his hand creep slowly along her cool thigh. By rights, she should move his hand from her, order him to get dressed and leave. She shouldn't be doing this - again, a flash of Mel's face behind her eyelids - but the damage had already been done. What else was she to do about it now, besides enjoy herself?

Edalene's torso melted into his as he snaked a strong arm around her waist. It had been so long since she had been with a man; the muscles and the hard planes of his chest, the hair scattered on his torso and arms, all were strangely drawing her in further. Leaning up against him, she grinned at his word, her lips mere inches from his.

"An encore, huh?" she murmured, tilting her head so that she could look directly into his eyes. "Are you so confident that I enjoyed it enough to go a second time around?" Her lips traced lightly against his cheek as she spoke. "But then again, I suppose if it's in the name of a competition, which you'll lose..." Edalene trailed off. She'd resigned herself to letting this happen, again, but she wanted to make him work for it - even if it was just the tiniest bit.

Duncan's grin in response to Eda's words was wide, enjoying the mostly unexpected turn of events. The younger woman leant against him, and Duncan's arm tightened around her, his hand stroking over her side fondly, enjoying the soft skin and supple curves. I'm lucky. He thought to himself, admiring the feisty beauty beside him. Usually I don't get as lucky as this when I'm that drunk. He wasn't one to be interested in quiet, complacent women - or men for that matter - he liked a partner that was willing to banter with him, to tease and play and build the excitement between them, not just physically, but verbally too. Duncan barely knew the young woman beside him, but already he felt a sense of companionship along with the sexual attraction, like their personalities fit instantly and seamlessly together.

He hummed, his voice throaty and rough with arousal, lids flickering as Eda leant in close to drift her plump lips over the stubbly skin of his cheek. He dipped his head and placed a gentle, sucking kiss to her shoulder, placing another on the side of her throat as she trailed off. Duncan was of course a highly competitive man, and so he's hands moved quickly, both wrapping tightly around Eda's waist, his eyes glinting with amusement and enjoyment. "Sweetheart, you're gonna lose." He growled back, and tugged her around, lifting her slim body from the bed beside him and pulling her into his lap, facing him. His hands drifted from her hips to run slowly down her smooth back and over the flare of her hips, settling on the small of her back. "Now, you cheeky little shit, what's your name?"
