Kash'deel Funerary Services
Image
The building which housed Kash'deel's Funerary Services was in one of the better areas of Andaris and it aimed to serve the wealthy. Therefore, even from the outside it was obviously plush; large windows had deep red velvet drapes, the dark wooden door had a brass knocker which gleamed and the subtle and sign was decorated with sophisticated scrollwork, naming the store as Kash'deel's Funerary Services.

Stepping into the funeral home, the small bell above the door tinkles and the customer steps into the plush but understated reception area. Soft, deep carpet on the floor quietens footfalls and the large mahogany reception desk dominates the room. The receptionist is a woman in her late fourties to early fifties, with blonde hair which is usually covered by a black scarf which she wears draped over her head. She is a handsome woman who smiles with a gentle smile in greeting, not appearing too pleased to see the latest customer; this is, after all, a funeral home.

The full range of services are offered here, Jamal Kash'deel and his wife, Mildred, see to most of the trial by trial running of the place. There are other staff behind the scenes, but the customers do not get to see them. Upon arrival customers are asked about their enquiry and usually taken into a small room off to the left of the reception area, a small and more intimate area with plush overstuffed chairs, fresh flowers and a quiet place where either Mildred or Jamal (the owner himself) will speak to the client and discuss their needs.

Jamal Kash'deel

Name: Jamal Kash'deel
Created by: Faith.
Race: Human
Age: 54
Born: 15th trial, Rebirth Cycle, Arc 662
Title: Jamal the Undertaker
Blessings/Curses: none known
Skills: Business Management: 40, Torture: 20, Psychology: 20, Sword: 20, Carpentry (Coffin Making): 20.
Other Information:
A lithe and once handsome man in his mid-50s, Jamal has a permanently cold expression on his sharp features. He is wiry and muscular, obviously still physically very able and he is stronger than his size suggests. He has grey receeding hair and a salt-and pepper beard. He owns one of the funeral homes in Andaris, where rich clients are treated exceptionally well.
To his clients he is the very epitome of a gentle and kind man, but his true nature is a cold and hard individual. He is not cruel by nature, but as a worshipper of Famula he takes his role very seriously.

Mildred Kash'deel

Name: Mildred Kash'deel

Race: Human
Age: 50
Born: 27th trial, Rebirth Cycle, Arc 666
Title: Mrs Kash'deel
Blessings/Curses: none known
Skills: Business Management: 60, Psychology: 60, Painting: 60
Other Information:
Mildred is a quiet and meek woman who seems to be quite content to let her husband run the business. She is a good person to have at the reception desk as she is quiet and empathic. She also offers her services as an artist to those who might wish it, to have a final portrait of their loved one, either in repose or as though sitting with their family and friends. She is very aware of Jamal's devotion to Famula, although she deeply respects all Immortals, she does not share his fanatacism and she avoids his slaves as much as she can as she finds the whole thing rather distasteful.

Race:Biqaj
Age:39
Born:Zi'da 74th 679
Skills: Appraisal-20 Business Management-15 Logistics-10 Navigation-10 Seafaring-20 Swimming-15
Other Information:Born to the modestly wealthy clan Qa'Jeral, Lirqyth was a dedicated daughter and shrewd business woman. Arranging a marriage between she and the son of a rival clan, her father Pyrim attempted to convince the girl that the marriage/merger between the two shipping merchant clans would be best for all involved. Flatly refusing the proposal, Lirqyth stated directly that she would only ever bind herself to a man of her own choosing, and only ever out of love.

When moored in Andaris for repairs Lirqyth first met Toby Porter. Despite the huge age and race difference, Lirqyth immediately became infatuated with the human farmer. Beginning a secret relationship via letter and the annual visit to Andaris, Lirqyth would oppose her fathers schemes for two arcs. This was until early in the arc of 702 when it was discovered that Lirqyth was pregnant.

Disowned by her father the young woman returned to Andaris alone. She wed Toby three days later. On the 29th of Saun of that arc, Lirqyth would give birth to twins. The boy she named after her father, Pyrim. The girl would be named after her mother, Myrira. Though sadly the little girl died in child birth.

Lirqyth was never the stereotype of Biqaj. Soft spoken and calm, she is also fiercely independent and dedicated to her family. There is no greater joy to the woman than being a mother and wife. Quick witted, she is the other half of Toby and their business, and together they live a peaceful life on their farm. Still, she recognize and dreads Toby's advancing years and misses the wide open oceans of her youth. With a warm and soft grace the noble woman carry's on. Her place is with her husband. And with her son. And she would rather it no other way.

Other Information:Toby never wanted to be a farmer. In truth there was nothing more horrifying than the idea of spending his entire life bound to a single place. Since a boy he had dreamed of wandering Idalos and drinking all the sweetness she had to offer. But his place was in Andaris and on his fathers growing farmstead.

For many years Toby had not married. Not so much unlucky in love, is was that Toby just could not bring himself to feel that deeply for any woman he courted. And though rumors abound as to his bachelor way, Toby ignored those that would rebuke him. His was a simple and content life, even if a lonely one, concentrating his efforts on the continued growth of his farm. He felt a special sense of purpose in his destiny and how vital he was, in his small way, to the people of his nation.

When Toby first met Lirqyth he had no idea what to think. Here was a woman so strange to him, and so beautiful, and so sharp, he was flabbergasted that she would choose to have anything to do with him. Very quickly Toby knew he had fallen in love. For arcs their distant relationship would continue, each new letter bringing them ever closer. But it was not enough. Toby, in an act of stunning selfishness, gave Lirqyth the ultimatum. Marry him or he could no longer continue their relationship.

To this day Toby still feels extreme guilt over the turmoil he caused to his love and her clan, and every day he tries to demonstrate this regret. He is a dedicated man. A loving husband and father, driven by his desire to everyday make the world a happier place for his wife and son.

Other Information:Pyrim Porter is the son of Lirqyth and Toby Porter. Growing up a half blood was not particularly difficult for Pyrim his mother and father were careful to teach the boy both the ways of the Humans and the Biqaj. Some, maybe, would have found themselves in some limbo state between both worlds. But not Pyrim who always took his mixed heritage in stride. Extremely sociable, intelligent, confidant, and the boy is a prime of example of what good parents can achieve with little. Still, he is a teenage boy. Flirtatious and perhaps a touch overconfident, Pyrim is dreamer by nature.

As many boys his age, Pyrim has aspirations to join the Moseke Knights or U’frek Sailors. The promise of adventure calling to his age and Biqaj blood. And though his parents would love nothing more than to see the boy achieve these dreams, they have been forced to set a course for him which he rather not sail. Taken out of schooling early, his father Toby needed the boys hand on the family farm. And though Pyrim misses his friends greatly, he knows that it will only be a few short years before he is able to set out and make his own way in the world.

Venora Village
Image
Sabaissant, often called "Fort Venora" by those not native to the Duchy, is the capital seat of the Duchy of Venora and ruled by the Great House of Venora. It is located in the central-west region of the Duchy, and is surrounded by noble estates outside of the city walls, many with their own vineyards. This region is one of the least agricultural of the Duchy, as the wealthy denizens - including the nobility - forbid the smell of fertilizer and other such things from pervading their environment. This is not a complaint one would find stark within the community. In fact, one would say that the expectations within Sabaissant are exceptionally high; the people are highly critical and exceedingly protective of their high standards. The attire of those living in the city is expected to be of high quality, there are virtually no homes available for the lower class, and those without contribution to the Duchy are expected to live in some other town, perhaps as a farmer or some other drab thing.

The citizenry of Sabaissant is populous, interestingly, considering the average wealth of the population. A good reason for this is that Venora is considered to be the most beautiful and fair-weathered of the regions of Rynmere, and the capital especially so - it sits alongside a northern mountain, with tradewinds from the south thus rebounding and washing over the city for an extended period of time, as well as a placement on the axis of Idalos that offers naturally pleasant summers (free from humidity) and winters that are at least moderate by nature. In terms of outdoor activities, there is a large lake directly beside the brunt of the city, as well as a river to the near southeast. The conditions are essentially exquisite, and so greatly sought after. Much of Venora's capital is thus filled with wealthy businessmen and their families from all over Rynmere, as well as elderly who have surrendered their life savings to live in a suitable, warm environment in their old age. More, the most successful artists, poets and musicians from all over the world often travel to Sabaissant and never wish to leave; it is a city of constant artistic excellence, as if embroiled in a never-ending renaissance. There are festivals thrown often, ones that display the talents of the most renowned artists in all of Rynmere and even beyond.

The culture of entertainment is one that also finds a home in Sabaissant. While plays exist all over the Kingdom, there are many bands of theatrical performers native to Venora, and their greatest performances often take place in the auditorium near the palace. In fact, many a show can be found there, from a theatrical play to an opera, a display of new artistry, or even an impassioned political speech.

The palace, looming over the city, is the home to the House of Venora and their extended family, including the many cadet branches that rule over counties, baronies and other realms within the Duchy. It is the center of political intrigue in the Duchy, and thus was built large so as to properly host the community of aristocrats within the region. The main castle hosts the direct family of Duchess Ebony and the woman who will soon replace her, Willow Venora. It is a home for the future rulers of the region, though from the primary branch of successors only Lord Alistair lives here primarily, with Zvezdana and Andraska basing their careers in Andaris.

In terms of industry, the capital thrives off of a variety of unique businesses. Firstly, there is the production business, one in which fancy textiles, silks and other materials are used in the creation of fine, adorned attire. Many of the noblemen in Rynmere buy their brocade doublets, hose and other such pieces of clothing from Sabaissant tailors, while a great deal of noblewomen adore the regal and beautiful dresses sewn by their seamstresses. The clothing industry is exceptionally developed in Sabaissant, standing to be one of the largest and most high profit enterprises in the area. Further, there is art, tapestries, sculptures, vases and other such luxury goods; these as a whole make up a great deal of the capital's income, with patrons buying exquisite art for unbelievable amounts of gold nel at one of the city's state-sanctioned auction houses. Sculptures and other similar products are sold at a high value as well, with legendary names behind the sculptures; Giulano Farnese, Henry Servano, Leighley Kletos, Merandara Seiande. There is a great deal of fame and prestige found in the city, contributing to its vast wealth.

The vineyards operated by the noble estates also spell income for the city, as some very fine vintages are produced in the fields outside of Sabaissant. The rich soil in the region reserved solely for these vineyards, and so a great quantity of product goes into the hands of wealthy winemakers and their employees or slaves. Slaves are, in direct connection with the wealth of the city's denizens, a large percentage of the population though not the majority. They handle the dirty work of the city, ensuring it is kept clean and maintained for the pleasure of their masters and mistresses. Better a well-trained and diligent slave operate the unfortunate labor of the city, a Sabaissant noble would say, than a man of low birth and the freedom to tarnish his surroundings as he chooses. There is an exceptional emphasis on class in Sabaissant, and those apart from higher-class society are welcomed for short periods for the sake of business, but never to stay in permanent residence. The gentrification of the city is consistent, and intolerance of the poor is required.

Harmony lake
Image

A medium lake branched from the Avari river and feeding into the Farm land around Fort Krome. A thirty minute walk from the Fort Krome, to the south east of the city off of the path out of the town just under 2 Kilometers away. The lake is large enough to have a good fish population yet small enough to see from bank to bank unlike the larger Lake Krome which stretches past the horizon. A rough measurement puts it as a 1 kilometer across and takes just under an hour to walk around.
It was found during the settlement of the Krome area and provided a good source of water during the building process and for the Saun of that year. The name lake harmony comes from the stillness of the lake, the water being very flat even in the strongest of wind. People come here often as a way to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of life, the area having a way of soothing people which also contributes to the name. The water is also very clear and always fresh, making fishing and swimming an easy task. This clarity also means that it acts as a giant mirror at night, able to reflect the sky above and the moons. Every year at the end of Cylus the local populous release floating candles into the lake and flying lanterns into the sky as a way of welcoming the return of the suns.

High Fashion in Venora
Image
The ducal crown of Venora
Image
Women's Aristocratic Fashion
The fashion of women in Venora is exceptionally diverse and highly sophisticated. Silk is of course unrivaled in need for any noble lady to wear, and it goes beyond merely the fabric and the expertise - dresses are practically that of art collages, with flowery ornaments, ribbons and other such things lining the bottom to the middle of the dress. Women often wear shawls or thin overcoats made of animal fur above their dresses, as this shows a level of sophistication and wealth. Adornments and accessories are almost always that of a flowery design, with many of the aristocratic houses of Venora being represented by a different flower: Venora the Rose, Graysons the Lilacs, Desmond the Tulip, Leighton the Primrose, Guiliani the Dahlia, so on and so forth. These flowers - whichever they are - will often be worn in the form of elaborate jewelry for women.

For women of lesser noble families, such as those with no relatives of the rank of Count, singular or small arrays of flowers are to be worn in the hair of the women, a fashionable design that compliments their hairstyle as well as promoting the Venoran ideals of growth, devotion, beauty and elegance. The flower in the woman's hair that represents their noble house is to be worn up until they are married, at which point they will often instead wear this flower as an icon in their jewelry and replace the flower decorating their hair with that of their husband's noble house symbol, even if this means wearing a miniature boat in her hair. If a woman is to marry a lowborn man, she discards the flower decorating her hair entirely, displaying that she is disgraced. It is fashion, beauty and artistry that dominates the social hierarchy of Venora. As such, to be stripped of the beauty of one's adornments is to be relegated to the lower brackets of the social and political hierarchy. These pressures exist to ensure that men and women of high birth marry one another, rather than commoners.

Women will usually not wear the ducal crown even if the reigning ruler of Venora, instead wearing the Rose of Nora, a large diamond accessory in the shape of the rose that curves around the head and is to be worn similarly to a tiara.
Image
Men's Aristocratic Fashion
Men's fashion in Venora is often dominated by colorful and exceptionally high quality brocade vests, as well as luxuriously designed silk trousers and a variety of accessories that display his unique aspects. While men in Venora do not wear quite as much fancy attire as women, their brocade vests and silk trousers, as well as the silk clothing they wear as their undershirt are expected to be of impeccable style, quality and elegance. Before marriage, the color of their vest is often that of their house's flower - thus the Venora men will often wear red to public occasions, Graysons a sort of light indigo, Desmonds a golden hue, so on and so forth. The colors worn by Venoran men are thus often bright and noticeable when they are young, displaying that they are young and ready for marriage so that mothers and fathers may watch their behaviors and see if they are suitable for their young daughters. When they become married, they often tend to wear darker colors - a shadowy purple, dark blues, black, to display that they are unavailable.

A man will often wear several rings - one displaying his marriage (often a gem styled into that of his wife's noble house), one displaying his talent (a ring cut to appear as a paintbrush for example), one displaying his chosen Venoran virtue (beauty, elegance, devotion, growth, nobility) in a symbol that the man will often draw himself before bringing it to a jeweler, and one signet ring that displays his family's crest, which is very often of course a flower.

The patriarchs of noble families tend to wear low collars that reveal the beginnings of their pectorals and a pendant running down them displaying their crest. The men of House Venora are expected to be attractive and presentable and even after marriage they will almost always wear their red brocade vests, the leader of the house complimented by the Crown of Lamonte, their ducal crown.

Outside of the Duchy
As Venora is the land of beauty, elegance and art, their fashion often inspires the clothing industry of nobles and middle-class citizens across Rynmere. Men and women across the Kingdom often advise their tailors and designers to style their vests and dresses similarly to that of a Venoran outfit, though many outfitters in Rynmere are incapable of the artistry required of one of their trade working in the duchy of luxury. As such, Venoran tailors are in exceptionally high demand and are often contracted to work for noble families outside of their home duchy, which is a profitable outcome for the duchy itself as they often bring home the money they gained from places such as Andaris, Warrick, Burhan and Gawyne.

@Kingdom, could you put these NPCs under Venora Village? So sorry for not submitting them with it!
Note: Gave Ebony a bit more SP than 100 despite being non-military since she's the Duchess. Hope that's okay!
Name: Ebony Venora
Created by: Alistair
Race: Human
Age: 68
Born: 3rd of Cylus, Arc 647
Title: Duchess of Venora
Blessings/Curses: N/A
Skills: 65 Leadership
30 Politics
30 Deception
25 Etiquette
20 Intelligence
15 Business Management

Other Information: Duchess Ebony of Venora is known to be an incredibly traditional woman, one who firmly supports the divide between noble and lowborn. She is not known to be greatly loved by the people, but rather respected, and adored by the nobility. She has ruled as Duchess of Venora for 38 years, placed as the heir of Venora after the tragic and sudden passing of her brother Wolsingham at a Knight's tourney, one where an upstart count drugged his horse which resulted in his dismounting and the breaking of his neck.

This was said to have inspired a change in her to become a proper Lord, provoking authority and demanding the loyalty of her vassals. Since then, she has also given more and more counties and baronies to Venora cadet branches rather than other, rival families, ensuring the family remain strong within the Duchy.

Now, in her old age, she is ready to retire to the town of Lamonte on the coast, living on a beachfront home her family has owned; one she's visited each year, and one she hopes to die in with her aging husband, Karl Venora (nee Warrick).
Name: Willow Venora
Created by: Alistair
Race: Human
Age: 50
Born: 14th of Ashan, Arc 666 (I nearly spat out my drink when I realized what year she was born)
Title: Countess of Lamonte
Blessings/Curses: N/A
Skills: 35 Investigation
30 Deception
20 Etiquette
15 Seduction
Other Information: Willow Venora is the oldest surviving child of Duchess Ebony Venora, though one with a reputation far below that of Noah's and Kalani's. Willow Venora is a proper noblewoman - she is good at playing 'the game', deceiving others, uncovering plots, dancing with her words and fooling the hearts of men. However, her actual leadership skills have always been known to lack, and decisions made by her often go sour. Even so, she is beloved by Duchess Ebony and as the mother of three children of relative prominence in the Kingdom's political affairs, her line is sure to lead Venora in the future, despite her relative incompetence.
Name: Kaleb Venora (nee Fate)
Created by: Alistair
Race: Human
Age: 51
Born: 18th of Ymiden, Arc 665
Title: Count of Lamonte, General of Venoran Army
Blessings/Curses: Audnev 2
Skills: 65 Intelligence
50 Leadership
40 Deception
30 Interrogation
30 Longsword
20 Mount

Other Information: Kaleb Venora is a man of exceptional skill, poise and nobility. Even despite being from a low-ranking noble family, he managed to convince Duchess Ebony in his youth to marry to the heir of an entire Duchy, a deal that made him one of the most prominent individuals in the Duchy, his family gaining the ownership of the County of Lamonte shortly after. He comes from a wealthy merchant family, known for its contracting of artists and musicians as well as the creation of fashionable trends across the Kingdom. It is said by many that his leadership abilities, his ruthlessness and political domineering, are sure to set him as the true leader when Ebony is to abdicate and retire.

He has a peerless public reputation as both a military leader and a man of dignity, but in secret is known to be a terrible father to his children, all three of whom generally despise him though Alistair and he share a silent, strange accord. He is marked by Audrae twice, known as one of the most influential schemers in the Duchy of Venora, and an individual who has maintained a power structure in the city of Sabaissant that not even the Duchess has recognized; he pulls many strings behind the scenes, and has ensured that his wife does not for a moment ever imagine herself to be the true and rightful Duchess.

Name: Ryqos Ej'Nacj
Created by: Aeon
Race: Biqaj
DOB: 17th of Ashan, 676
Title: Colonel of the Xiur Skyriders
Skills: Ranged: Shortbow - 75, Blades: Rapier - 70, Unarmed Combat - 70, Animal Husbandry - 50, Mount: Volareon - 50, Discipline - 30, Cooking - 25, Seafaring - 25, Navigation - 25, Strength - 25, Gambling - 15, Teaching - 1, Singing - 1
Other Information: Born a Biqaj, he was a disappointment to his race when he decided that he wasn't liking their way of life. He wanted a civilized, disciplined lifestyle, so he joined the skyriders, in hopes of experiencing what no other Biqaj ever did. Because of his decisions, Ryqos, after his rite of passage, gave himself the last name which pointed out how he had forsaken his Biqaj life. He was a talented fighter, though his style of fighting wasn't exactly what regular knights practiced. He was always agile, wearing only leather armor most the time, and never (ever) using a shield. He rose up in the ranks, never giving up, and he earned his Volareon by the time he was 26. The flying animal was a loyal companion for years for Ryqos, and it costed it it's life. Many times Ryqos did incredibly stupid things with his Volareon, like chasing a group of a dozen bandits by himself instead of returning to his post and reporting his sighting. Most of the time, those kinds of things were worth it for him, as he succeeded almost every time, with 10% talent, 66% skill, 20% an amazing mount, and 14% luck. But every once and a while, luck is drained out, and that was exactly what happened, when Ryqos' Volareon got killed while he was fighting some petty thieves, by another group of bandits, one with better equipment. Ryqos managed to escape, although he never found the body of his mount. With the death of his Volareon, Ryqos didn't bother finding a new mount, but he stayed on land, mostly entertaining himself with petty criminals, and torturing teaching young Skyriders. He is currently a colonel of Andaris, though not a very renowned one at that, he prefers that the ones under him issue orders in his name, while he drinks himself to death does other important things. After reaching the rank of colonel, Ryqos decided it was good enough for him, and that he had done what he wanted to with his life, so he stopped trying, and stopped caring about promotions. He had decided, he was going to remain a colonel until his death.

She was born a crofter’s daughter in Warrick, but she was never interested in learning her father’s trade (or any other normal job). Even as a girl she was rather wild and flirted with boys everywhere she went. Eventually she ended up in the capital of Rynmere, Andaris, where she met Madame Alessa, the manager of the House of Roses and asked the rather surprised woman for a job. She figured she might as well make money with what she enjoyed. Lucille is a very extroverted and slightly sarcastic young woman and not ashamed of what she does at all.
